Deflection Criteria Is Code

Deflection limits for concrete structures are specified. Deflection after construction due to permanent and transient loads should be less than or equal to the span divided by 350 or 20mm, whichever is lower. Total deflection due to all causes such as loads, temperature, creep, and shrinkage must be less than or equal to the span divided by 250. Lateral sway at the top of a building due to wind must be less than or equal to the building height divided by 500, and story drift at any story must be less than or equal to the story height divided by 250.
