The document is a lesson plan for a mathematics class on the six trigonometric functions. It outlines objectives to define and explain the six trigonometric ratios as trigonometric functions, and demonstrate them. It details learning activities including a review, motivation with a word puzzle, presentation on the definitions of sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant and cotangent using examples. Students will practice finding the six functions for sample triangles.

Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 9

Prepared by: Mark Anthony N. Ramos

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Define the six trigonometric ratios of the acute angle of triangle;
2. Explain why the six trigonometric ratios are trigonometric functions; and
3. Demonstrate the six trigonometric functions to the class.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: The Six Trigonometric Functions
References: E-MATH Grade 9
Materials: Laptop, projector, LED monitor

III. Learning Activities

A. Preliminaries
1. Daily Routine
Greetings
Prayer
Checking of attendance
2. Review
The teacher will ask the class about the topic from the previous meeting
3. Motivation
The teacher will show the class a hunt-a-word puzzle and will ask them to find the
six words namely; sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, and cotangent.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation
The teacher will ask the students if they already encountered the mentioned six
words.
2. Abstraction
Using a powerpoint presentation, the teacher will discuss the different
trigonometric functions.
Six Trigonometric Functions
Sine of an angle is the ratio of the opposite side and the hypotenuse
Cosine of an angle is the ratio of the adjacent side and the hypotenuse
Tangent of an angle is the ratio of the opposite and adjacent side
Cosecant of an angle is the ratio of the hypotenuse and the opposite side
Secant of an angle is the ratio of the hypotenuse and the adjacent side
Cotangent of an angle is the ratio of the adjacent and opposite side

The teacher will present an example of a right triangle and will conduct an
interactive discussion in determining the six trigonometric functions of the
presented triangle.

3. Application
The teacher will present in the powerpoint images of triangles and will ask
random students to find the six trigonometric functions. The answers must
be written on the board by the chosen students.

It’s Practice Time!

1. Find the six trigonometric functions of angle A of the given triangle.

2. Find the six trigonometric functions of the angle formed with respect to the
Holy Cross.
