Feeder Protection Relay Specification
Feeder Protection Relay Specification
I. Protection elements:
1. Phase Over Current (50) –
a. This protection is intended to protect the feeder & connected power cable
against phase to phase faults, flashovers occurring at terminations & connected
cable.
b. To avoid tripping during startup as a result of asymmetric CT saturation a defined
time delay element settable from minimum 10ms shall be available.
c. Shall have four user selectable stages having non-directional overcurrent
element with Time delayed & Inverse time characteristics with enabling &
disabling selective function.
d. There shall be user selectable inverse characteristic curves when IDMT is
employed for protection.
e. The relay shall be suitable for Circuit Breaker applications.
5. CT supervision –
a. The current circuit supervision function compares the residual current from a
three phase set of current transformer cores with the neutral point current on a
separate input taken from another set of cores on the current transformer.
a. A detection of a difference indicates a fault in the circuit and is used as alarm or
to block protection functions expected to give unwanted tripping.
V. Power supply:
1. Auxilliary supply - 110-240VAC @ 50 Hz & 110-250VDC
2. Input voltage range – 85-250 Vac & 85-300 Vdc
3. Relay start up time : < 10 seconds
XII. Enclosure:
1. Relay front panel shall meet the requirements of NEMA 12/IP 65
2. CE, UL, and cUL for Class I, Division 2 hazardous locations applications, ATEX, and RCM
certified
3. Flush mounted type
