2. REFERENCE DOCUMENT
This section defines the reference documents and drawings used for this detailed engineering
design.
The construction shall comply fully with the latest edition of statutory laws and regulations of
Nigeria, relevant SPDC Standards and Specifications, International Standards & Codes of
Practice and industry-published guidelines.
All Building Structural elements were designed in accordance with the following specifications,
codes and standards below.
Where national regulations exist, their provision and those of the standards and codes to which
they refer, were applied.
In the case where the design of a structure or part of a structure is not covered by any of the
listed reference documents, the use of a reputable and fit for purpose international code or
regulation, subject to prior approval of the Principal was adopted by the contractor.
In all cases, Contractor avoided mixing the requirements of several different codes or
regulations when designing a particular item of a structure.
Only the main reference documents were indicated; the Contractor was responsible for
complying with all secondary reference documents dealing with the subject of this document.
The execution of the work and such design and detailing as the Contractor may be required to
carry out was performed in accordance with the relevant specification, codes or standards.
Unless otherwise stated, reference to any specification, code or standard meant the latest edition
of that standard or code, including addenda or supplements or revisions hereto, in being at
the time of contract award.

5. CONCLUSION
Foundation of size 6.805 m x 1.47 m x 0.8m deep is adequate for the Demineralized Water Unit
Skid Foundation.
The foundation maximum settlement is 9.2mm which is less than 25mm hence okay.
The 0.3m thick provided supporting slab passed all requirements for bending, shear and
deflection.
The 0.8m deep beams provided passed all requirements for bending, shear and deflection.
Total volume of reinforced concrete is 13.16 m3.
Total volume of blinding concrete is 1.85 m3.
Total tonnage of reinforcing steel is 0.53 tonnes.
Eight (8) 20mm diameter anchor bolts provided by vendor is adequate. Bolt length calculated is
350mm.
