Task 2

This document describes the various tools a student teacher used to monitor student learning during their teaching practice. For each of the 8 lessons taught, the student teacher recorded the monitoring tool used, how it was used, and a reflection on its effectiveness. The tools included notebooks, checklists, rubrics, exit tickets, name sticks, smart boards, alarm clocks, and quizzes. Overall, the student teacher found that using these various tools helped them to effectively plan lessons, monitor student understanding and performance during activities, and evaluate learning at the end of each lesson. The tools also allowed for providing targeted feedback to students.

Teaching Practice Task 2: Monitoring the Learning

Program link: This task is associated to the guidelines of the course EPR 3203 – Teaching Methods for
the Primary School Teacher (Course learning outcomes 4 – Plan and implement appropriate modes of
assessment for primary mathematics teaching and learning)

Objective: Describe how you monitored the learning when the students were working on their activities
and identify the tools used to record your data. For each lesson you teach, you will describe the tool that
you use to monitor the work of the children. In the second column, you will describe how you used that
tool and you will reflect on how useful it was.

1 Lesson 1  Notebook  At every start teaching practice I use this tool. I

2 Lesson 2  Checklist  At every lesson plan I use this tool, is used during
student work in the centres. After I explain them

3 Lesson 3  Rubric  I used this tool with checklist is used to evaluate
the performance of students in class, I put point

4 Lesson 4  Exit ticket  At every lesson plan I use this tool at the end of
each lesson I do. I have exit ticket (small paper
