AGE REGRESSION
Just let you mind drift back in time... going way back...drifting easily....
naturally... almost effortlessly. Becoming younger and younger now...going
way back. Knowing and realizing that you are safe and secure and no matter
how far back you may go, you will never be out of touch with the sound of my
voice. My instructions will always take precedence over everything you
experience, either physically or emotionally. You may now view your past
experience as if you are a spectator, from a safe distance with no physical or
emotional attachment to them until or unless I suggest such attachment. Now,
think about your particular fear, your phobia, whatever frightens you and know
and realize that you are safe and secure, viewing yourself as a detective. You
are curious and eager to learn of the origin of your fear...eager to investigate all
clues. Now, in a moment I’m going to ask your subconscious mind a question
and I’d like it to answer me in this way. If the answer to my question is “yes”,
then the forefinger of your right hand will raise. If the answer to my question is
“no”, then the forefinger of your left hand will rise. Do you understand this?
Please answer with the appropriate finger, (pause for confirmation).

Now, go back in time to the first time you experienced your fear, the very first
time. See it at a distance; you might even imagine that you’re viewing it on a
movie screen. You are physically and emotionally detached from the event,
viewing it clinically and dispassionately until and unless I suggest otherwise.
You now begin o understand why you felt fearful. Small pieces of the puzzle
are beginning to fit. As you view the first episode of your fear, I’d like you to
ask your fingers, “Is this the very first time I felt that fear?” (If the answer is
negative proceed in the following manner until the first event is reached.)
Continue to drift on back in time, growing younger and younger until you recall
the incident that caused your phobia. When you reach a time that feels right, as
if it might be the one you are searching for again ask your fingers, “Is this the
first time I felt my fear?”(When an affirmative answer is reached proceed as
follows.) Now the, I’d like you to experience this event as if it were actually
happening. Become a part of that scene and experience completely and totally,
physically and emotionally all that you felt then. You will do so at my signal.
Of course, although you are reliving the event, there is also a part of your mind,
which knows that you are quite safe and secure in the chair. So go ahead, feel
fear... or panic... or anxiety or whatever else would be appropriate. Just let it
happen, (allow a few moments for this.) Now, I’d like you to go through it
again, only this time your fear and anxiety will be considerably less. (Proceed in

this manner on or two more times.) Now then, I’d like you to, once more,
remove yourself from the event and again view it as spectator, just as if you
were watching it on a movie screen. And you realize, both consciously and
subconsciously, that you were watching it on a movie screen. And you realize,
both consciously and subconsciously, that you are viewing this from the
perspective of a person who is older, wiser and more mature then the person
you were when you originally experienced it all those years ago.

And you now begin to feel much more comfortable and you know, both
consciously and subconsciously, that the past no longer has any influence on
you in the present. Let the screen come a little closer to you now and begin to
let go and release old emotional ties to the past. Let go of fear, let go of anger,
let go of pain and embrace understanding and freedom. As you allow the screen
to come closer and closer, you find that these memories are losing their hold on
you. And now I’d like you to imagine a cord connected from you to the screen,
a cord that ties you to the past. Now just imagine cutting that cord to the screen
and as you do you release yourself from the past. Just watch the screen fade
away. It grows more and more faint. The screen is dim and disappearing and as
the screen fades you begin to feel a healing take place, healing from past fears
and past experiences, healing and soothing. Now, take a deep, lung filling
breath and as you let it out, the final remnants of your fear just rises for you.
Your mind and body is now free of your older fear. You are completely free;
you no longer need your fear. It’s disappeared...deflated like an empty balloon
and you feel relieved as if a tremendous burden has been lifted from your
shoulders. You feel calm, at ease, peaceful, serene, relaxed and tranquil as you
realize, both consciously and subconsciously, that your old fear is not only gone
but that it’s been replaced by strength and confidence.

And as continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I’m
going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind...suggestions
which it will find reasonable, acceptable and in your best interests.

You’ve decided that it would be wise and beneficial to cut down somewhat on
your drinking. You don’t wish to stop drinking but you realize that modifying
the amount you drink would be best for you. You’ve made this decision for
various good reasons. No one is making you do this. You could, instead of
reducing the amount you drink, double or triple it. But that’s not what you want
to do and you recognize that would be foolish anyway. You want to reduce the
amount so that you’re drinking moderately. With no compulsion to do this, of
course, you won’t feel irritable in cutting down. As a matter of fact, you’ll even
feel a sense of relief at ridding yourself of excessive drinking which could be
harmful to you. You’re very glad that you’ve reached a sensible decision to cut
down on your drinking.

You know how it is when you eat a Thanksgiving dinner. You don’t eat turkey
with stuffing and all the trimmings very often, so when you do it’s a treat. Most
people get a great deal of satisfaction from a Thanksgiving dinner. When we
finish it we are so well satisfied that, for a long time, food loses all its appeal.
We’re full. We want no food for a long time. In the very same way, when
you’ve finished a drink which you thoroughly enjoyed, you are gratified, you
are satisfied, and you are satiated. You want no more alcohol for a long time.

Now, I’d like you to recall a time in your life when you were really bored with
what you were doing. Take a few moments do this until you hear my voice
again. (Pause) Now, recapture the feeling of boredom as strongly as you can.
Take a few moments to do this until you hear my voice again. (Pause) Now, I’d
like you to replace the event that originally bored you with the act of drinking
and as you do this you find that you automatically begin to associate feelings of
tedium and boredom with alcohol and drinking.

Now, I’d like you to picture and imagine yourself in some situation where
you’re usually tempted to over indulge in alcohol. Perhaps you’re in your own
home or at a party. As you begin to drink you notice that your interest in alcohol
begins to wane very quickly. You imagine yourself really enjoying the first
drink or two but you notice that after this you begin to tire of drinking and you
want to do something else. You can imagine yourself really enjoying the first
drink or two but then apathy toward alcohol and drinking sets in quickly after

that enjoyable drink or two. Feel yourself becoming indifferent toward alcohol
and drinking.

As you imagine this scene, notice how you begin to feel good about your lack of
concern for alcohol. You feel thrilled about your feeling of monotony and
dullness related to drinking, especially over drinking. When it comes to alcohol
you now feel detached and indifferent. After you’ve drank a small amount you
are anxious resume or get started on some other activity that’s more interesting
to you. That activity can be anything that you find interesting and exciting:
reading, conversation, hobbies, watching television, playing games, anything
that appeals to you but that does not include drinking.

Picture and imagine yourself standing on a white sand beach. As you do you
write the phrase “interest in alcohol” on a piece of paper and put it into a bottle.
Now throw the bottle far out to sea and watch it float off into the distance,
disappearing. Now, write the phrase “interest in alcohol” in the sand and watch
the waves gradually wash it away. And now you’re realizing that with each and
every passing day your interest in overindulgence in alcohol grows less and less
and you’re now satisfied by much, much smaller amounts of alcohol than
you’ve been used to.

And as you continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I'm
going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind ... suggestions
which it will find reasonable, acceptable and in your best interests. ... .Each and
every day in every conceivable way your attitudes and ideas about alcohol are
changing. Gradually, definitely, your attitudes and beliefs about alcohol are
changing for the better. You're becoming less and less interested in alcohol and
drinking. All desire to drink excessively is fading away. Every day you think
less and less about alcohol and drinking.

You enjoy alcohol in moderate quantities and anything more than that simply
doesn't interest you. You're feeling better and better as you drink less and less.
You're drinking less because you want less. You actually want less. Every day
you want less and less. The time that you use to spend thinking about alcohol is
now being directed into healthier, more productive channels. Everyday in every
way, you're becoming more and more satisfied with less and less alcohol.

You drink for pleasure only. Drinking is not a substitute for anything else. You
may have problems from time to time, but you don't try to solve or forget about
these problems by drinking. If you're upset, disappointed-or emotionally
distraught about anything, you no longer think of drinking to solve your
problems. You fully realize, both consciously and subconsciously, that
excessive drinking only serves to cause additional problems rather than solve
current ones. You can and you will solve your problems without resorting to
alcohol. .. .. You no longer think of alcohol as a reward. When things are going
well, it's now easy to resist drinking. Not wanting to celebrate with alcohol
makes you feel even better.

You no longer compensate for disappointments by drinking. Alcohol doesn't


make you feel any better in times of disappointment. You now find it easy to
resist alcohol, even in times of disappointment.

You do not drink because you're bored. When you're bored or apathetic, you
instead direct your energy toward other activities besides drinking. Anytime you
even begin to feel bored, your subconscious mind automatically directs you
toward activities that take your mind away from drinking.

Now then, I'd like you to reflect for a moment on all the successes you've
already had in the past ... the many positive goals that you've reached and
achieved and feel proud ... proud of yourself, of your accomplishments ... of all

the positive aspects of your life. And now know, both consciously and
subconsciously, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that because you've been
successful in the past and because you've reached so many positive goals, you'll
simply continue to be successful in every area of your life. You're now more
motivated and more determined than ever before to reject all that is unhealthy
and harmful to you.

Now this particularly and especially applies to alcohol. You have all the right
reasons to reduce your consumption of alcohol. You do it for yourself, for your
health and well-being, for your self-respect and that feels fine. And since you've
been successful in the past, you will simply continue to be successful and reach
every positive goal you set for yourself and you now choose to reduce your
consumption of alcohol.

You've made up your mind and you're now more motivated than ever before to
create the most healthy and positive life for yourself so you're now in complete
and total control of your drinking. You feel it within. You now make a
conscious choice not to have that one drink too many and emotionally You feel
just fine. You're drinking less... enjoying it more and enjoying a new found
control and self-respect as you become and as you remain the person you want
to be ... will be ... deserve to be.

And as you continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I'm
going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind ... suggestions
which it will find reasonable, acceptable and in your best interests.

Realizing now that symptoms are all very subjective experiences and
sensations. We feel and experience them both emotionally and physically.
Before we take on the task of changing your emotional feelings and perceptions
about those situations and events that cause you anxiety and panic, we're first
going to help you modify your physical feelings and sensations. And because it
is easier to modify objects. We’re going to do this by changing your unpleasant
sensations into an object.

I'd like you to begin by taking that unpleasant sensation that panic and anxiety,
and picture and imagine it as an object. And give it a shape. It can be an abstract
shape, without numbered sides or a top or a bottom or it can be a concrete shape
with easy to see lines. It can be a shape with geometric design like a big rubber
ball or balloon or it can be a loose, irregular shape like a puffy, white cloud
floating in the sky fluttering and changing in a refreshing breeze. Whatever
shape comes to your mind is the right shape for you....the shape you want your
anxiety to be.. (PAUSE)

Now just continue to drift on down deeper and deeper and as you do you are
realizing that the first shape that comes into your mind is the best shape for you.
Now concentrate on that shape and let it linger in your subconscious mind and
as you drift on down deeper and deeper, I'd like you to give that shape a colour.
(PAUSE) And now I'd like you to give that shape a size. You might imagine
that shape next to some object you know or you can give it a size by just
knowing its size. (PAUSE) You're realizing that this is a symbol of your anxiety
and panic. And you also know that the larger the shape is the more pronounced
your panic and anxiety is and the smaller the shape is the less your anxiety and
panic is. You're also realizing that the less vivid the colour is the less severe and
significant your anxiety and panic is.

I'd like you now to practice changing the size of that shape or object. First make
it a little bigger and then take a deep, relaxing breath and make it smaller. And
if you have any difficulty making it smaller you can try a few techniques or
tricks I'm now going to suggest to you.

If the shape is a balloon, you can put a needle into it or kick it away or throw it
away. You could put it on a boat or a truck or tie it to the tail of an airplane or
bird and let it go away. Do this now until you hear my voice again. (PAUSE)
And watching it become smaller and disappearing, you are realizing that this
symbol, now becoming smaller and smaller, is associated with your feelings and
sensations of panic and anxiety and they are becoming less intense. All the
uncomfortable feelings and sensations are just floating away like a tiny twig or
leaf floating down a sparkling, bubbly mountain stream or autumn leaves
drifting down from a tree in a lazy breeze.

And you're knowing, realizing and remembering that you can make this symbol
as small and as comfortable as you want it to be. And you are making it smaller
and even smaller anytime you, desire to do so by just closing your eyes, taking a
deep lung-filling breath and beginning the process I described to you:

Each and every time. -now and in the future, that you utilize this technique all
physical feelings and sensations of anxiety and panic become less and less and
you find that the more you practice this technique the easier and more effective
it becomes.

And as you continue, you’re aware now that symptoms of anxiety are your
body's natural fight-or-fight response. They're natural and harmless. They're
unimportant. And you are losing your fear of the symptoms of anxiety. You're
unafraid of the symptoms of anxiety. You accept the harmless symptoms of
anxiety. You remind yourself that you are medically safe. Whatever your
symptoms, you know they are unimportant and that you are medically safe.
Your symptoms are natural you're losing your fear of the symptoms of anxiety.
You're becoming stronger, more confident, more self-assured. You're in control
of your fears and anxieties.... You can relax your body whenever you feel fear
or panic; you can breathe deeply, deeply. The air will push deep into your
abdomen... deep down into your belly.

Take a deep breath into your abdomen right now... and let go. Exhale that old
air. You can take slow, deep breaths to regulate your breathing. Whenever you
feel anxious you can begin taking slow, deep breaths into your abdomen. Take
another deep breath to remind yourself that you can regulate your breathing...
you breathe slowly, deeply, whenever you feel anxious. You can relax your
whole body. When you're anxious you can check your body for tension. You
check your shoulders and neck, letting your shoulders droop and relax. You
check your jaw, letting- your jaw hangs loosely, loosely. You check your
forehead, letting it become smooth, smooth and relaxed. You check your
abdomen, letting each deep breath relax your stomach, each deep breath
relaxing your stomach more and more deeply. You can relax any part of your
body that feels tension. When you are anxious, you check and relax any tension
area in your body. You know that you are in charge. You have the tools and
knowledge to let go of all anxiety and fear.

You know the truth now that panic passes quickly when you stop your anxious
thoughts. Panic passes quickly. It passes in less than three minutes when you
empty your mind of anxious thoughts. You can wait it out and soon, very soon,
it will be over. When you are feeling anxiety and panic you can stop the anxious
thoughts, stop the thoughts of danger. Inside your mind you will shout "STOP”
to the anxious thoughts, knowing your panic will pass in less than three
minutes. You can shout "STOP" inside your mind to cease the anxious thoughts.
Panic passes quickly, it is over, over, over. Panic passes and it's over when you
stop the anxious thoughts. You can wait it out and soon the panic will be over.
You are in charge; you have the ability to release all panic and anxious
thoughts.

Imagine your anxiety as a picture hanging in a museum, perhaps a picture of
war or strife or anguish. See the picture on the wall of the museum. You're
moving past the picture, floating past the picture, you're almost past the
picture... and now it disappears from sight. Your anxiety passes like the picture
out of sight, out of sight. You know now that you can accept any feeling in your
body. You can accept any emotion because you float past, until it is gone and
out of sight. You accept and float past your feelings.

Now you have new responses to your old anxious thoughts. You no longer
frighten yourself with the catastrophic fears. You're letting go of the old fear,
the old anxiety... letting go, letting go, letting go of the old fears. Right now you
can remind yourself of your new responses to the old anxious thoughts.
Whenever you are aware of the old anxious thoughts, you know .now that you
can stop them. Those thoughts are fading. See them fading like a light going 'out
in the distance. You have new responses to the old anxious thoughts. You know
now that you can accept any feeling in your body. You can accept any emotion.
You accept without running from your feelings and emotions. You float past
anxiety and panic, knowing it is a brief time and in a while you'll feel so much
better. You float past without fighting. You know now your feelings are
transient and passing... they are passing, passing and soon will be gone. Your
feelings, no matter how uncomfortable, pass and are gone. They are gone. Your
anxiety or panic soon will be gone. You accept and float past your feelings.

CONCENTRATION
You are feeling absolutely great about yourself. You opinion is as good as
anyone else's. Love is what you are, not what you do or what you have. You
have total confidence in yourself. Now!

You have something value to contribute. You are totally positive; negativity is a
part of your past. It is easy for you to sustain positive thoughts and emotions.
When you sleep, you have a lot of R.E.M. and good dreams. Each morning you
wake up in a normal range of consciousness feeling great.

You do not force a direction in your life; you allow it to flow.

You now find it very easy to concentrate. You have total recall at will. Anytime
you find it 'beginning to become difficult to concentrate, you take a deep breath
and relax. You are no longer bored with the things around you thus making it
easier to concentrate.

You now structure your time so your energies are not scattered. Things do not
have to be difficult to be worthwhile. You no longer have to force the things in
your life. It is no longer a battle to remember things; it is an easy natural flow.

CREATING ABUNDANCE
You've come here today to establish creating abundance within yourself. And
you now begin to discover how you create abundance in your life.

Now that I mentioned this it might be of interest to you because you've come
here to create abundance and here I am telling you that you are already creating
abundance. You're doing it. Let's begin by testing some of your beliefs on how
you create your own life, because believe it or not you are abundant right now.

Perhaps you don't recognize it. And you might say "I'm depressed most of the
time and that's not very abundant." But I would like to suggest to you that you're
abundantly depressed. Or you might say, "I get up angry all the time with
people I'm close to." And I then suggest you're abundantly angry. Or you might
create relationships that don't seem to work for you. And again I'd suggest that
you're a success and abundantly create those relationships that don't work.

Now you might be thinking that you don't like what you have. Perhaps you don't
like the way you set things up and that may be true. However, realize that the
process that underlies how you put your life together doesn't care whether you
put it together in a way whether it works for you or not. That's something that
you have to choose to do. And if you make wise choices, you can create things
that work for you. But the process of creation in abundance in itself is the same.
And you may have mistaken the products of your creation for the process.
Because no matter what you do, you're good at .what you do. Everyone is. If
you’re scattered and can't get organized, then you're abundantly scattered and
disorganized. If you tend to gripe a lot, then you're abundantly gripe-full. If you
have migraine headaches, then you're abundant at getting migraine headaches. If
you intend to spend your entire paycheck, then you're abundant at loosing your
money. So now you may be wondering what is necessary for you to create
yourself to be the way you want to be, to receive what you want. And that's
really the point, isn't it? That you're always on some level getting what you
want. And there's a subconscious process that you have inside you that creates
what you want. The difficulty is that you don't allow yourself to know what it is
that you want. Some people are abundant at losing control in their lives. So as
you look at your life and examine what you do, realize that what you're doing,
how you're doing it, more importantly, are doing it well. What you really need
to do is to re-direct and work with different contact and different content using
the same process that you're using now. It's like that old saying that says every
failure contains its success. And. that's really true. So when you find out what

you need to do in order to be successful, you'll be amazed at how easy it is for
you. Begin now to redirect your energies. That's where the real power comes
from when you direct your subconscious mind to do what you want and to want
what you receive. Be very aware of focusing on your breath now. And as you
do begin to notice how you breathe, deep or shallow. And how it feels when
your abdomen expands and contracts. And how the body feels when it's letting
go and relaxing. Just continue to breathe relaxing, releasing, becoming so
restful. There's a component of creation connected with your breathing, because
in a way you create yourself when you breathe. So continue to breathe and
create your own experience and fee! on a very deep level where this sense of
creation comes from. Many of the things you do in life are things that you
believe whole heartedly. And there is a firm trust within you as you think of you
as a trusting person. You continually support yourself. And it's this trust that
you want to intensify and develop. For you see it's this trust that assists you in
your creativity. You believe in yourself. So magnify now all those positive
feeling you have, about yourself. Flood your subconscious mind with
affirmations and reinforce who you really are: I'm a creative person. I have
remarkable insight. I have terrific thoughts. I dream beautiful dreams. My mind
is strong. I have limitless potentials. I have awesome ideas. I see new vistas.
Challenges bring me strength. My thoughts are fantastic. My advice is solid. I'm
intelligent. I have amazing abilities. I use my God-given talents productively. I
create beautifully. I have incredible perception. My mind is a wonderful
creation of God. I have vision. I have great honour and respect for myself and
others. If these ideas are acceptable to you, then let them be as second nature to
you as your breathing in and of itself. Now as I count from the number one to
the number five, I would ask that you return to full and alert awareness at the
number five. One, feeling very relaxed and inspired with yourself. Two,
allowing your inner awareness of creativity to interlink with your conscious
mind. Three, feeling a greater awareness and perception of your surroundings.
Four, breathing more deeply and more alert now. And five, breathing deeply,

Now as you relax more deeply, let the cares of the world take care of
themselves. Simply drift and float in your own pleasant thoughts. Let the sounds
inside and outside this room just fade away and cause you to go even deeper
and deeper into comfort.

You' ve come here today (Name) because you have had feelings of depression.
And I want to assure you that you have come here none to soon, nor is it too
late. Yesterday you may have felt down and depressed. But I want you to know
that today is a new day; a new beginning. Remember that saying, 'Today is the
beginning of the rest of my life."? It's so true. Today is a very special and
important day for you. Because you know that yesterday and all those sad
feelings are a part of history. They are a part of your past. And you now choose
to close the door on that past and leave behind any fears, doubts, and self
limitations. You accept, and understand that today is a new beginning of
wonderful, exciting adventures in your life; a step toward the realization of your
many worthwhile goals and the attainment of your true and highest potentials.
As you continue to breath slowly and gently you realize that you begin today to
establish a new and solid foundation in our life A foundation based on learning
from past experiences, of knowing where you want to go, and being confident
that your choices are based on knowledge and wisdom.

You decide now to allow all the worries, fears, concerns and problems of the
past to just fade out of your life. You release them and let them go totally and
completely. You know that God has a special purpose and plan for you. You are
now open to that special purpose and plan. You put your life and trust in His
hands. Remember He said, "ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find,
knock and it shall be open to you." So just as a child learns to walk one step at a
time, you begin today to pay close attention to an the good and wonderful things
that are happening in your life. When you face life positively, you realize that
each and every experience we have leads us toward fulfilling God's plan for us.

So pay close attention to all the positive happenings around you. You are
creating the exciting environment and space around you. You are now directing
your own thinking. You're the programmer of your own destiny and the master
of your own life. You have the incredible freedom and power of your own
choice to move positively in the directions you choose, and in doing so you
realize that all your thoughts and actions are forming a remarkable image of

SCRIPT FOR DEPRESSION


Induce as deep a hypnotic trance as possible and then give the following
suggestion:

Relax more and more and as you drift deeper and deeper into relaxation, let
your thoughts relax. Relax your thought process, nothing to think about right
now, just imagine yourself in a peaceful, special place and because your mind
and your thoughts are in a resting place, your sub-conscious mind becomes
open to positive post hypnotic suggestions.

Your sub-conscious mind is your protector, and, as your protector it will alert
you to negative thinking. The moment you recognize your negative thought
process in progress, you immediately stop, take a deep breath and realize your
negative thoughts have no value. They cannot solve your problems or make you
feel better. They have no value, they have no value, they have no value, these
thoughts only give you negative messages about yourself, let them go.
Remember you are a valuable person, you are loved and cared for, you are
smart and creative.

Now, just relax more and more, notice your breath, just notice your breathing,
and refocus your awareness on your breathing and relax deeper, now refocus
your thoughts and imagine positive goals, achieving positive and healthy goals,
imagine a checklist of positive goals. The list may include enjoying a good
night’s sleep, awakening refreshed in the morning, feeling hopeful and positive
about the future, feeling relaxed and calm, feeling healthy and strong, feeling
productive, and taking pleasure in leisure activities, like seeing friends, going
for a walk, going to the movies.

Each new day you feel more confident, you have positive goals for the future
and you make good decisions daily, you take care of your health and well-

Manifestation:

And now relax deeper and deeper, from this quiet place of deep relaxation, I
would like you to project yourself a little into the future, it may be tomorrow, or
the next day or the next month, or you may see yourself six months from now,
not too far into the future, just a little into the near future. As you project
yourself into the future, imagine the easy flow forward, gentle, easy, no need to
rush, just an easy flow forward, let your sub-conscious choose the future time,
imagine a future place, a place of serenity and peace, just imagine it for a
moment a place of serenity and peace, linger here, all is as it should be, allow
yourself to relax and simply feel peaceful.

Now, create your future, imagine that you have achieved your goal, imagine
what it looks like, imagine every detail, pause and give yourself time…all the
time that you need, when you are ready to continue, do so. There is no need to
know how you achieved your goal, just imagine the end result in the most
positive way. Now, add to this future image by placing positive feelings. Add
joy, happiness, imagine yourself smiling, imagine yourself dancing with joy, or
running, jumping, laughing, really feel those positive feelings now, remember
the last time you experienced a good belly laugh, your whole body felt it, you
laughed feeling the full force of the joy, now, if you are not experiencing total
joy, that’s all right, as you practice this manifestation you will experience the
positive feelings more and more each time as you practice this manifestation.
Just create your future manifestation, in the most positive way, each time you
see it, add a little more detail, each time you see it, add more positive feelings.

I would like you now to add the final portion to your manifestation, see your
manifestation serving a positive purpose in life, imagine your manifestation
benefits everyone. Your manifestation brings joy and happiness to you and to
everyone. Now, bring this manifestation to the present, bring the images,
feelings and goals to the present time, you own these positive feelings, they
have been inside you all along, and all you need to do to bring them forward is

EXERCISE MOTIVATION
Beginning at this particular point in time you have the motivation to exercise ...
to do your physical exercise. Exercise to aid you in attaining perfect health and
a slim. trim figure. You know that exercise is good for you. You have the desire
to pursue that physical exercise. You now have the motivation and the desire
and the determination to pursue the exercise, to continue it on a daily basis and
to increase the amount of exercise that you do each day.

Any helpful exercise is very appealing to you. Any exercise that's going to help
you in toning and trimming, regaining your perfect health, is very appealing to
you. You set up a time to exercise, making the time available to you to do your
exercise. Whether that's in the early morning. sometime during the day or in the
evening after working, you set up a regular time to exercise. You make the time
and take the time.

Every day at the time of exercise period you feel restless. Every day at the time
of your exercise period you feel the urge to do something. Every day at the time
of your exercise period you have the feeling that you must, absolutely must,
engage in some activity. You have the urge to do the particular exercises you
want to do and you feel so good when you exercise, no matter what that
exercise is. You feel yourself breathing deeply as you exercise. You breathe
from the diaphragm. You begin to exercise briskly. You find that it's fun to
exercise. You feel so good when you start exercising. You find yourself
stretching. Your body automatically becomes very erect and very limber and
you exercise freely and easily. Each and every moment that you exercise makes
you feel more vigorous. Each and every moment that you exercise makes you
enjoy even more the sense of well-being throughout your body. You breathe
deeply and you enjoy the movement of your exercise. You enjoy the sheer
feeling of being alive.

You exercise in this way for the length of time you've set aside for yourself,
however, you do not overdo. You start sensibly and build each day. You enjoy
each and every moment of your exercise and when you've completed your day's
exercise it's perhaps with a faint sense of regret that you realize your exercise.

And as you continue to drift an dawn, so calm, so Comfortable, so relaxed, I'm
going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind ... suggestions
which it will find reasonable, acceptable and in your best interests.

I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself at the airport You’re at the airport
and you’re watching the planes coming and going. You can see the faces of the
people that get off the planes and the joy they feel when their loved ones are
waiting for them. You can see the anticipation of the sales people as they arrive
to make big deals. Flying can bring joy and prosperity. You feel their joy and
their anticipation and it's a really good feeling.

Now, I'd like you to. picture and imagine yourself waiting to make a flight See
and feel that excitement in yourself ... the anticipation of a good flight, with
positive results ... and you feel really

Good. Your flight has now arrived and you’re now boarding the plane. See and
feel yourself boarding the plane. You walk to the seat, secure your things in the
overhead compartment, sit down, settle in '... and relax. You feel the calm and
relaxation yet you also feel the excitement and the anticipation of a good flight
with positive results. Now, you fasten your seat belt and the plane begins to taxi
dawn the taxiway. You can feel the little bouncing as the planes taxis along the
taxiway. It's a good feeling.

You're calm and relaxed yet you also feel the excitement. Feel the excitement
with the calm relaxation. The plane begins its takeoff run, accelerating down the
runway. The plane lifts off. What a great feeling. It's almost like, when you
were a kid, sitting in the back seat of a car. The car goes over a bump and you
felt a tickle in your tummy. You knew there was nothing to be concerned about
then and you know there's nothing to be concerned about now. It's a really good
feeling. You feel the gentle excitement of the lift off.

Now you're in the air and you feel the wonderful and delightful feeling of being
airborne. You look out the window and see the city... the clouds ... the
surrounding countryside. It feels very close to having the power to fly on your
own. The fill progresses and you continued feel calm, relaxed, at ease, peaceful
and having a thoroughly enjoyable time. You read the in-flight magazine, enjoy
a meal perhaps and maybe even watch the in-flight movie. You’re now
approaching your destination. The plane is circling ... preparing to land. The
plane comes in. It lands on the runway, very smoothly, with the very slightest of

bounces. The plane taxis up to the terminal and stops. You now unfasten your
seat belt. See and feel yourself getting off the plane feeling fantastic and you
wonder why you’re ever been afraid to.fly. What a feeling of freedom.

Now, if at any time you fly, you feel the old apprehension returning all you
have to. do is close your eyes, take a deep lung-filling breath and let it out
slowly. You then let your mind drift back to this time and this place in that chair
... feeling so. very, calm, peaceful and relaxed. You then reinforce these positive
feelings by saying or thinking to yourself the ward "calm" for a total of five
times you then take another deep breath and open "your eyes. And as you do
you immediately feel calm, peaceful, relaxed. serene and totally at ease. Any
nervousness and apprehension just fades away.

Now, I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself face to. face with your fear.
Actually make it into. Something that you can see. New look at it and notice
how weak it really is. It's very very weak. You are much stronger than it is.
You're poised, at ease, relaxed and confident. And you’re smiling because you
know that your fear has lost its strength and importance. You no. longer need
it... you no longer want it. Each and every time you fly it gets easier and easier
because now your emotions match with what you know intellectually. Flying is
one of the safest modes of travel... safer than trains, busses or automobiles.
Flying gives you a sense of freedom, gets you where you want to go the fastest,
way possible. You're so very proud of yourself because you've conquered your
fear and you are in control as you are now and shall continue to be to an even
greater extent, each and every time you fly.

FEAR OF HEIGHTS
And as you continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I'm
going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind ... suggestions
which it will find reasonable, acceptable and in your best interests.

I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself in your kitchen and there is a
kitchen stool in the comer. Go over to the stool and check it very carefully to
make sure that it's solid and safe. Make sure that the kitchen stool is completely
safe. Now, when you're satisfied, that it's completely safe. I'd like you to move
it over to a cabinet, get onto the stool and get something out of the cabinet. The
stool is as safe as can be. You feel a freedom of overcoming your fear of
heights. It's a really good feeling. You feel very excited that you're overcoming
this fear. You can crawl up on that kitchen stool anytime you want and get
things out of the cabinet.

Now, I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself in a garage. There's a ladder in
the garage. I want you to check the ladder and make sure it's solid and safe.
Now, take the ladder outside. beside the house. I'd like you to climb up on the
ladder and either rescue a kitten from the roof or get a limb out of the gutter.
reel the confidence in your ability to do things on your own, without fear. It's a
really good feeling ... knowing that you are in control. That old fear no longer
controls you.

Now, I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself in a park. It's a beautiful park
with rolling hills. Now, I want you to locate the tallest hill in that park and
climb to the top of that highest hill. Now stand there looking out over the park.
lt's a beautiful day and standing on, top of that hill makes you feel that you're
the king of the mountain. What a wonderful feeling ... a feeling of freedom and
power ... power in overcoming your fears. It's a beautiful feeling ... a wondrous
feeling of freedom and' excitement.

Now, I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself atop the highest building you
know. You're standing on the roof looking out over the city. You feel safe and
comfortable and there's a smile on your face. Your heartbeat is steady. You
have the feeling that your feet are rooted, locked almost nailed to the floor.
There's a wondrous feeling of freedom and excitement as you gaze out over the
sprawling city beneath you.

Now I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself face to face with your fear.
Actually make it something that you can see. Now look at it and notice how

weak it really is. It's very very weak indeed. You are much stronger than it is.
As a matter of fact it is actually afraid of you because it knows that you are
much stronger than it is. You're poised, at ease relaxed and confident. And
you're smiling because you know that your fear has lost its strength and
importance. You no longer need it ...you no longer want it. .

If at any time in the future those old feelings of fear and apprehension should
try to reassert, themselves here's what I’d like you to do, At those times you just
stop close your eyes and take a deep, lung-filling breath hold it for a moment
and then exhale. You then let your mind drift back to this time and this place, in
that chair feeling so very very calm comfortable and relaxed. You then say or
think to yourself the word "calm" for a total of five times. You then take another
deep breath exhale open your eyes and go about your business. And as you do,
all fear nervousness, anxiety or apprehension is immediately replaced by
feelings of calm, confidence peace serenity and control.

Now and in the future, whenever you are in a position where you are up high,
you feel calm and relaxed, with an inner knowing and an inner peace. You feel
the freedom and the excitement because you have conquered your fear.

FEAR OF WATER
And as you continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I'm
going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind ... suggestions
which it will find reasonable, acceptable and in .

You're realizing now that you can choose to be fearful of water or not. Now
this may sound silly to you: but it's actually very, very true. So I want you now
to make the choice not to be afraid of water. Water is essential to our existence.
You also have the choice of whether you want to like playing or swimming in
water, or having water all around you or not. So you now choose to make the
enjoyment of water a permanent part of your life.

In order to help make this a permanent reality, I'd like to start by asking you to
picture and imagine yourself in a bathroom. And I'd like you to, in your mind's
eye, fill the bathroom sink with lukewarm water. Now, look at the water and.
put your hands in it. It really feels good and, of course, a sink full of water is
certainly no threat. Now, I want you to just wiggle your fingers in the water.
Notice how the water ripples. You're playing with the water just like when you
were a kid ... wiggling your fingers and making the water ripple. Feel the water
on the palms and backs of your hands as you put your hands in the water, .past
your wrists. Now, I want you to take that water and just flick it off your
fingertips. But your hands are still wet. Smooth that water over your face and
notice how refreshing that feels. There's a glass sitting by the sink. I'd like you
to pick up the glass and fill it with cold water. Now drink some of that water.
How refreshing it tastes. You appreciate water, more and more, for its life-
giving qualities.

Now, I'd like you to turn around and fill the bathtub with water. Just a soothing
warm water. Fill up that tub with water. Now get into the bathtub of water. And
as you step in, the feeling of water on your skin feels really good. Now, sit
down in the water, take a deep breath and begin to feel totally relaxed. The feel
of water on your skin is a really good feeling. Swish the water over your arms
and shoulders. It's a nice warm water and it feels so good. You're really
enjoying swishing that water around. Go ahead ... wiggle your toes ... splash
your legs around. It's a good feeling..!f you want to, you can cup your hand and
squirt the water just like you used to do when you were a kid. Besides its life-
giving qualities water can be a lot of fun. It also cleanses and refreshes.

Now, step out of the bathtub of water and there is a whirlpool bath there in the
bath-room. Go get into the whirlpool. The water is massaging you and makes

you feel comfortable and relaxed. It works out any sore places that you have. So
now, the water is healing. The muscles in your back and shoulders are relaxing.
What a good feeling. Now, get out of the whirlpool and go outside.

As you go outside you notice that there's a pool of water. This pool of water is
just chest high at the deepest point. You walk into the water and it feels like
liquid velvet on your skin. This water has miraculous cleansing and healing
powers. So, as you feel this water washing over you ... as it caresses your skin
like liquid velvet ... it washes away all of the apprehension.. all the
apprehension that you have ever felt about water. It just washes it away. You
thoroughly enjoy the water. It's your friend and not your enemy. Water has life
giving properties... water cleanses and refreshes ... water heals. And water is a
lot of fun to play in. So, I want you to splash the water all around you and have
a really good time. See and feel yourself laughing and playing and having a
good time in the water and know and realize, both consciously and
subconsciously that you have' conquered your fear of water. You feel
absolutely marvellous. Now, I want you to walk out of the water and notice that
you're completely dry.

If for any reason, in the future, you feel that apprehension or fear returning,
here's what I'd like you to do. I'd like you to just stop, close your eyes, take a
deep lung-filling breath then let it out slowly. You then let your mind drift back
to this time and this place, in that chair feeling so calm, comfortable, relaxed,
peaceful and serene. You then say or think to yourself the word "calm" for a
total of five times. You then take another deep breath. exhale, open your eyes
and go about your business. And as you do, all fear, nervousness or
apprehension is immediately replaced by feelings of calm, peace, tranquility,
serenity and control. Now and in the future, every time you wash your hands,
every time you wash your face, every time you take a bath, you feel absolutely
marvellous and you enjoy the water, knowing and realizing that you have
conquered your fear of water.

FOCUS & CONCENTRATION
And as you continue to drift on down. so calm ... so comfortable ... so relaxed,
I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself with a pair of binoculars. Only this
is a very special pair of binoculars. Indeed. they seem to be endowed with
magical. even mystical properties.

Now, as you gaze through these binoculars what you see is very blurry. So you
reach up with one hand and adjust them. And now the picture begins to clear
and you can see the entire scene. And as you concentrate on the entire picture
you realize that what you’re; actually looking at is a time in the future when
you've finally realized all the rewards of developing exceptional skills of focus
and concentration. Now these rewards are uniquely yours. They're nobody
else’s. So nobody else can see them in quite the same way as you do. These
rewards may be personal or professional. They may be a new home or car or the
dream vacation of a lifetime. Whatever they happen to be. they're yours and
they're all very real and very vivid to you as you gaze through these special
binoculars.

Now, I'd like you to readjust those binoculars so that they zero in and focus on
one particularly special reward. And you now see this very sharply, crisply and
vividly. (PAUSE) Now, I'd like you to draw back and take a few moments to
see, as vividly as you can. all those special rewards - the payoffs- for developing
exceptional habits of focus and concentration. You won't hear my voice for a
few moments as you do this. (PAUSE)

Now then, I'd like you to picture and imagine that you're listening to a radio.
And this is a very special radio, endowed with the marvelous ability to play the
sounds of the future .. your future ...a future that's bright and shiny... filled with
limitless possibilities. But at this moment there's only static coming from the
radio. So you reach for the dial and begin to tune the radio. And now you're
listening to the rewards for developing exceptional skills of focus and
concentration. You're hearing the sounds of success ... sounds that are special to
you ... sounds that are uniquely yours. It could be a special person
congratulating you on a job well done or someone presenting you with a reward
for a superbly executed job or project or any other sound that reflects your
success ... your accomplishments. (PAUSE).

There's another dial or knob on this special radio and this one allows you to fine
tune the reception. It eliminates everything else "and focuses on something
unique about the sound of your success. It might be the sound of the seashore as

heard from that beautiful- beachfront home you've always dreamed about or it
might be the sound of a car's engine revving ... that special car you've always
wanted. Whatever it is, it's uniquely yours and you focus intently on it. So go
ahead and take a few moments to hear, as clearly and vividly as you can, that
extra special reward ... that extra special pay-off for developing exceptional
habits of focus and concentration. Take a few moments to do this until you hear
my voice again. (PAUSE)

Now then, I'd like you to picture and imagine that you're standing in a fog.
You're surrounded by a deep, dense fog. And this is a numbing fog and although
you suffer no discomfort you're devoid of all feeling ... all sensation. You're
numb. Now you consciously will this fog to lift and it does so. And you find
yourself in a place, a situation that perfectly represents all the rewards of
developing powerful habits of focus and concentration. The rewards are
uniquely yours and you're experiencing and feeling them "as if" they were a
reality. And, indeed, for you they are along with the physical feelings and
sensations there arc also emotional feelings of success ... feelings of joy,
contentment,' pride, accomplishment, deep satisfaction and whatever else would
be appropriate for you to feel in that situation. So, go ahead and concentrate on
this whole range of physical and emotional feelings and sensations
representative of your success. (PAUSE) Now, I'd like you to choose one
particular physical or emotional sensation and focus on that. Vividly experience
that extra special reward ... that magnificent pay-off. Do this until you hear my
voice again. (PAUSE)

Now then, I'm going to present to your subconscious mind some suggestions ...
suggestions which it will find reasonable ... acceptable ... and in your best
interests. Now and in the future you are developing an ability to concentrate
your attention on a specifically defined area of interest or range of experiences.
Your control is so great that you're able to widen or narrow this area at will.
This allows your subconscious mind to draw upon an the stored, related
information on the subject at hand. It then synthesizes this information for you
to use as needed.

I'm going to teach you a simple yet powerfully effective technique that will
enable you to concentrate completely and totally on whatever you wish ...
whenever you wish. From now on. whenever you wish to concentrate on any
activity, whether it be reading, writing, studying, listening or observing, all you
have to do is to close your eyes, take a deep, lung-filling breath. hold it for a
moment .and then exhale. You then place the palms of your hands over your

eyelids and say or think to yourself the word "concentrate" for a total of five
times. You 'then take another deep breath, exhale, drop your hands from your
eyes, open your eyes and begin working. If it's reading, then start reading. If it's
listening, then start listening. Whatever the task is, start doing it. And as you do,
you begin to concentrate.

You're simultaneously developing an ability to narrow your concentration by


focusing your attention on a precisely defined point of interest. You do this with
surgical, even laser-like precision, accurately targeting whatever you choose.
Focusing allows you to do such things as fine tune ideas and solve problems
more efficiently and effectively. And the way you attain this state of focus is
very similar to the way in which you attain the state of concentration. Again,
you close your eyes, take a deep breath, exhale, place the palms of your hands
gently over your eyelids ... only this time you say or think to yourself the word
"focus" for a total of five times. You then take another deep breath, exhale, drop
your hands, open your eyes and begin working. And as you do, you
immediately begin to focus.

Whenever you employ either of these techniques, you automatically find that
your thoughts start to narrow down to the task at hand to the degree appropriate
for the technique you chose to use. And your senses become attuned to and
vitally absorbed in the task you are performing. Within the next few moments,
the rest of the world just seems to fade away. so that for you there exists only
that which you are attending to. Your concentration rapidly becomes perfect and
stays that way for as long as necessary to complete the task. Your concentration
is unbroken unless there is some real and necessary reason for you to attend to
other things. And in the event that your concentration or focus is, temporarily
broken, you find that you quickly regain it as you return to your task.

All those things that used to be distractions to you in the past no longer disturb
you in the least. As a matter of fact, they now serve as a trigger to help you
focus or concentrate even more intently. Your focus or concentration is
continuous and perfect from a few moments after you start working until you
have completed the task. Until then, all your thoughts are totally directed to the
job at hand. Each and every time you use these techniques you find it easier
than the time before. Each and every time you use these techniques your powers
of focus and concentration become even greater.

GASTROINTESTINAL PROBLEMS
And as you continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I'd
like you to picture a healing white light surrounding your entire body. Feel it
penetrating and soothing. I want you now to picture, imagine and feel this
healing white light penetrating and permeating your entire gastrointestinal
tract... through the stomach, the intestines and the colon.

I'd like you now to center this healing light in the abdominal area and know and
realize that your subconscious mind knows exactly what to tell your body to do.
and it's telling your body to no longer produce excess acid. Feel the soothing
and healing light heal your stomach ... helping the body neutralize the stress and
tension that causes the production of excess acid in the stomach. I'd like you to
inhale slowly and deeply and feel your stomach relax. Relax all the muscles
around your stomach area. With every breath you take feel your stomach relax
more and more. Your subconscious mind will now keep this area stress-free.
Your stomach will now digest food properly and maintain perfect function.

Now, I'd like you to imagine taking all of your worries and problems and
placing them in a shoebox. You put the lid on the box' and you take the box to
your closet and place it on the top shelf. You can always retrieve it later if you
need to, but for now those worries are put away and you enjoy being free of
them. Now just release all the stress from your body, mind and emotions. Feel a
sense of peace and calm wrap around your body forming a protective shield,
shielding you from any excessive stress at work, home or any situation that may
be stressful to you. You are now protected and stress just bounces off and away
from you. You feel a calm flow throughout your body. It's pleasant, warm
sensation permeates your entire gastrointestinal tract, healing everything within.

And you realize that you can help your body in the healing process by eating the
proper foods. From this point on you automatically want and eat only those
foods that will help in the healing process. You no longer have any interest in
any foods or beverages that will interfere with the healing process. Foods and
beverages that soothe and heal taste the best to you and you're now drawn to
them.

Your body now produces the proper balance of digestive fluids so that your
stomach digests the food properly. You no longer have any problem with the
digestive system. Now that you're able to remain calm and centered in even the
most trying situations, your body can do its job better and it now produces the
proper balance of digestive fluids to digest the food properly. You do not

experience the nausea, bloating or heartburn that you may have had in the past
because you are remaining calm and centered so your stomach only produces

you simply stop, take a deep breath and imagine the soothing, healing white
light permeating your stomach and your entire gastrointestinal tract, calming it,
soothing it and filling you with peace and tranquility. Your body is in a constant
healing process. The natural state of your body is perfect health and you're now
doing everything that you can to aid the body in the healing process. And you
can now think of your entire gastrointestinal tract as new... completely new and
healthy... and working perfectly, calmly and slowly.

going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind ... suggestions
which it will find reasonable, acceptable and in your best interests. .

I'd like you to picture and imagine a healing white light at the top of your head.
It spreads out and surrounds/your entire body. See and feel it on the surface of
your skin and now feel it circulate throughout your entire body, healing and
cleansing every organ, muscle, nerve, fibre, bone and cell of your body. Now
feel its gentle warmth flow through your head and across your eyes. Feel it melt
down your shoulders, circulating around your neck and down your back. Now
up your back again into your shoulders and down your chest. Feel it circulating
around your heart, through your lungs and into your stomach, through your
intestines ... cleansing and healing ... healing and cleansing your entire body.

You now recognize and realize that your body is in a constant healing process.
The natural state of your body is perfect health. You now do everything in your
power to attain and then maintain perfect health in every way. You no longer do
anything that would slow down the healing process. Disease, injury and illness
are not a natural part of your being. Perfect health, physically. mentally.
emotionally and spiritually is your natural state of being. The mind and body are
in a constant healing process. Your body, mind and spirit now reject all
imperfections. expecting perfect health in every way. The healing light scans
your entire body and sets up rapid healing throughout the entire physical body.
This light also heals mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

You automatically set up proper-conditions to allow your body, mind and spirit
to attain and maintain perfect health in every way... every day. You no longer
eat or drink anything that will interfere with your perfect health. You're
automatically attracted to the nutritious foods; the things that 'viii aid in the
natural healing processes of the body. You get proper and sufficient rest and
you exercise your body and stay in tune with your body so that it can attain and
maintain a healthy you in every way.

If your thoughts and feelings and actions have made you sick, if you've allowed

maintain perfect health. You can and you are making yourself well. You now
take the time and make the time that your body needs to set up conditions to
attain and maintain perfect health in every way. You now take the time and

walking down a sparkling white sand beach. Or maybe it's a lovely, mountain
path or a beautiful country lane. .But as you walk there you're striding briskly
freely easily naturally, energetically. You're the picture of health, strength and
vitality. You're vibrant and strong and there's a smile on your face. You feel
wonderful, healthy strong, vibrant and vital. And your subconscious mind will
help make this picture a reality as you grow stronger and stronger... healthier
and healthier... with each and every passing day.

going to present suggestions to your subconscious mind ... suggestions which it

I'd like for you to think about the problem we're working on today. Concentrate
on the area of your body or condition that you want to be healed. And as you
concentrate, you gradually feel healing warmth flowing through the tissues of
your skin. The healing processes of your body are working right now and will
continue functioning properly and heal your body completely and perfectly.
Every muscle, nerve, fibre and bone is relaxing more and more.

Your body is responding to the normal, natural healing energies that are
working to restore, rejuvenate and strengthen your body. The cells of your body
are alive and know how to perform their tasks of sending nourishment to every
part of your body where it is needed. The cells of your body know how to
cooperate with each other and conduct their activities properly and restore your
... body to normal, healthy functions. So your subconscious mind is directing
the mind of each cell to cooperate in harmony and unison with all other cells to
heal your body completely. Your mind is now being renewed with good
thoughts and ideas that are causing you to become healthier and stronger with
each and every passing day.

You're realizing that your body was created with the ability to function
properly. If your skin gets cut, the cells of your body know exactly what to do to
cause the skin to grow back together again and heal perfectly. If you get a
bruise, the cells of your body function properly and heal the area that was
bruised. If you break a bone, the cells of your body do what needs to be done to
cause the bone to mend itself and heal completely. The energies that produce
healing in your body are already there. You have tremendous healing powers in
your body and you're letting yourself experience that healing power right now.

Your subconscious mind understands that your body was created to be healthy
and that it is only unhealthy because of a misunderstanding in your mind. Your
mind is reviewing that misunderstood information, assessing it and realizing
that there is no reason you need to continue experiencing that problem. And
you're feeling the healing processes of your body working. You're realizing that
you have the healing energy and power in your own body. You're letting that
healing energy flow freely now and it will continue to do so that you will be
healed completely.

out of life. You have the self-discipline to stick with your goals until they are
accomplished. You allow only positive and winning thoughts to flow through

goals to fruition. You are a goal-oriented winner. You accomplish all of your
goals. You feel an intense inner drive to reach your goals, to accomplish and to
win.

GRIEF AND RECOVERY
Someone you have dearly loved has died. You feel a sense of emptiness and
void. You have flashing ideas that at any moment your loved one will walk
through the door or call on the telephone. You bounce like a rubber ball
between shock and denial. There is an ache and terror of loneliness. Activity
seems to evolve around you and you're not participating. You feel numb. You
think you may not be able to carry on. You feel a mixture of anger, guilt, or
even depression. You feel sad. All of these ideas and feelings you are
experiencing is the beginning of a process known as grief. It is important to
understand that what you are experiencing is a process something you must live
and work through. The process of grief will include many expressions including
shock, denial; fear, anxiety, despair, sadness, and even disorganization. As you
proceed through grief, you will begin to notice yourself reorganizing and
recovering slowly. There is no set time or schedule for recovery. It can take
from six months to as much as two or three years, or even more. Each situation
is unique and the manner in which you handle your own situation is unique.
This is another fact of reality, which must be stated. Grief will not just go away.
You have to live and go through it.

Let's pause for a moment and examine some procedures, which will assist you
in your journey toward recovery from grief. You will feel a definite need to talk
with friends closest to you. Too often those closest to you assume that the less
spoken about the deceased, the less you can be hurt or think about your loss.
Just the opposite is true. The more you speak about your loved one and vent
your feelings, the sooner you recovery from grief and pain. You can sooner go
forward and reorganize doing what needs to be done in your new life
experience. So the more you talk, the sooner you will heal.

A second helpful procedure may be to write down your experiences and


feelings. Record everything from beginning to end. Vent your emotions, feeling
and frustrations. Be certain that your ideas are all there even if they are
confusing and frightening. After you have recorded everything you may want to
write a last letter to your loved one. Tell your loved one how you feel; how
much they meant to you; how much you will miss them; that you forgive
anything that needs forgiveness for whatever needs forgiving. Then when you
have it all out gently loving tell them good-bye.

Another helpful activity is to join a support group. Many churches and social
organizations such as hospice have regular meeting sessions in grief therapy.

Always remember that no matter how deep your loss and sorrow, you are not
alone. There are others who have been in your shoes. They can help ease your
burden. .

A powerful resource in the process of recovery is Faith. No matter what your


religious affiliation or participation has been, you would do well to approach a
member of the clergy and allow him or her to assist you in your search for hope,
comfort and understanding of God's total meaning of life. God gave us life to
share himself with us. He calls us back to Himself to share life with us more
abundantly. That life he shares is an expression of how much He loves us.
Emmet Fox in his book, The Sermon on the Mount wrote: "There is no
difficulty that enough love will not conquer; no disease that enough love will
not heal; no door that enough love will not open; no gulf enough love will not
bridge; no. wall that enough love will not throw down; no sin that enough love
will not redeem... It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble;
how hopeless the outlook; how muddled the tangle; how great the mistake. A
sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all. If only you could love enough,
you would be the happiest and most powerful being in the world."

God our Father knows our sorrows and joys. He longs to comfort us. He longs
to hold us in his arms and give us peace.

Finally begin to organize patterns for yourself that really take care of you. I
don't mean to be overly simplistic.

Just want to ask you to focus on your own health and happiness. Here's are few
hints to help you along:

Try to keep busy - do things that are really meaningful to you.

Eat well... Your mind and body have been racked with hurt and pain. Search out
foods that provide you with the vitamins, minerals and nutrients your body
needs.

Exercise on a daily basis. You will feel better and sleep better. A good walk
each day can really be helpful.

Don't forget your old friends. You need them and they need you.

Get more involved with church and social activities

If you think some of this is really grinding away on you and you can't seem to
handle it, seek professional assistance.

You are surrounded by a divine blue healing light, which is flowing through all
of your cells, healing you quickly and completely. You have the power and
ability to accelerate the healing of your body. Your body is filled with positive
healing energy and your healing is now accelerated.

Each breath of air that you take into your body contains the divine healing
prana. Your mind is all powerful and you now use it to heal yourself of all
imperfections which are now in your body (, such as......). You are now healed
and your body has returned to a perfect state.

From this moment forward you choose only perfect health, mentally, physically
and spiritually. Perfect health is your divine right and you now manifest perfect
health. Each moment, each second, and each hour you move rapidly toward
total healing of yourself. You are healed.

You now focus upon the healing power of the universe mentally, physically and
spiritually.

HEALING TEMPLE
At the count of 3, see yourself projected back in time to the most famous
healing temple known. I - 2 -3. You are now standing outside the most famous
healing temple of all time.

(Pause 1 'minute after each of the following suggestions)

Enter the temple and meet the physicians and priests who will be working with
you. You are now going through all of the diagnostic tests.

Now the diagnosis has been completed and you can see yourself being perfectly
healed, participating with the priest and physicians in the healing process.

See yourself perfectly healed, leaving the ancient healing temple; being
projected back to the present time bringing with you the feelings and the
energies, which you have created.

Take a deep breath, open your eyes and stretch comfortably feeling the healing
energy flow throughout your body.

ENHANCING THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
As you continue to relax (Name), I am going to remind you of something you've
always known. You may not always consciously been aware of this knowledge.
However, your subconscious has never forgotten the strength and intensity of
your ability to heal yourself. You've been taught long ago that God created
within each of us an immune system. A system that protects us from disease and
injury. We've so taken this system for granted that long ago we began to forget
about it and even turned over our power to develop it and enhance it to
medications and drugs. Sometimes these assist our immune system, but they are
never a substitute or a replacement for what God had created within us.

I'm sure you remember now how you were taught that there were cells within us
that sort of patrolled our bodies to protect us. Whenever these cells encountered
a foreign agent or disease in our body, they would attack and destroy. Sometime
these foreign agents or diseases attacked our bodies with such intensity that we
had a great deal of discomfort or pain. Perhaps you took a medication, went to
bed and slowly recovered. Over the years we've taken so many drugs that we've
ignored our real immune system. Remember how it was before! Remember how
it was when-you cut your finger. You cleansed the cut, applied a band-aid and
allowed your body to heal itself, slowly it did by forming a scab over the cut
and when it was totally healed the scab fell away and your finger looked as
good as new. Even if YOU ever broke a bone in your arm or leg, it was really
your own body that did the healing, not the “cast that surrounded it so it's really
important to pay close attention to what your body is doing. It's important to
understand that your body is capable of healing itself in any respect no matter
how "great the damage or how great the disease.

So relax even more deeply now and as you do begin to focus on allowing the
cells to become more powerful. With each breath you take now empower the
cells in your body, which are protecting you. Send a message down through
your central nervous system to release these powerful cells to any place in your
body that is in need. These cells are helpers, protectors and healers. They are
your friends. Take a deep breath and feel them becoming more powerful.
Encourage them to battle any discomfort or disease within you; If you know the
exact location within your-body, direct these helpers and healers there. Feel
them destroying anything that is harmful to you. Direct then as a general would
to destroy that disease. Imagine these cells doing just that. Imagine them killing
the agents that can cause you harm... Direct them to crush every harmful cell in
your body so that none of them are left. Now make sure they clean up their

mess by forcing the destroyed cells out of your body. Take all the time you
need. Breathe them out, or let them pass out through your urine or stool. Pause.

Now take another deep breath and direct your immune system by your thinking
to manufacture more helpers and protectors for you. Make them stronger and
even stronger. Again take your time. Produce as many of the helper and
protector cells that you need. Pause.

Now imagine you're giving instructions to your helpers and protectors to again
patrol your entire body. Keeping you safe and secure and your mind and body at
their natural and healthy best. Take a moment to accept yourself. Love yourself
more deeply than you ever have before; be very proud of the healing work that's
being done within you. You're very special and very precious. Know that you
have only one mind and one body on this plane of existence. Treat it
wonderfully so that you may protect it from any harm or disease. You have a
right to believe and trust in yourself. Now as I count from the number one to the
number five, return to full awareness at the number five. One, feeling
wonderfully relaxed and calm. Two, feeling alert with your surroundings.
Three, feeling fantastically good inside and out. Four, more aware and five,
open your eyes and return to full awareness...

INSOMNIA
The purpose of this tape is to assist you to relax to the point where you can let
the cares of the day take care of themselves and enter into a peaceful,
comfortable night long sleep. Sleep is a natural state for the body and the mind
in order to re-energize, revitalize and heal. It is a natural gift that you give to
yourself. Because of these suggestions for deep relaxation, this tape is never to
be played while operating a motor vehicle. First of all it is important not to TRY
TO GO TO SLEEP. Trying involves effort and effort, being a conscious
process, tends to keep one awake. I'm certain you have heard many times that
the harder you try to go to sleep, the wider awake you become. Sleep is such a
natural state; all living beings sleep, but only man has trouble sleeping. That's
because he is the only animal who tries to go to sleep. As long as a person is
quietly resting, his body does obtain the rest and rejuvenation that it needs. So
rest assured that everything will turn out all right.

To begin, assume a comfortable position lying down where you will not be
disturbed, a peaceful and quiet place. Take a deep breath all the way down to
your stomach and as you gently let it out give your eyes permission to relax and
close. Focus your awareness on your eyes - allow them to relax even more.
Relax them to a point that you are certain they won't open even if you wanted
them to, because they are so relaxed and you want them to remain closed. Now
allow that relaxation in your eyes to spread to your entire body, covering it like
a soft, warm, fluffy blanket. Each time you listen to this tape you find it
progressively easier to relax deeply allowing your subconscious mind to make
new positive associations each time and make relaxing and restful sleep an
automatic and natural process for you. Now place your awareness on the
relaxation of your breathing, causing you to go deeper and even deeper into
relaxation. Focus on your abdomen and as you breathe in let your stomach
expand and contract. Notice how it relaxes you more and more letting loose of
any points of tightness or tension. Now imagine your breathing sending
oxygenated blood flowing down two inches below your navel. Feel and imagine
this oxygenated blood flowing now throughout your body and moving to the
base of your spine. Then moving up the spine like mercury rises in a
thermometer. Up the spine it moves to the neck, then to the top of your head and
then flowing down your forehead and back out through your nose. Picture and
feel this oxygen and blood moving this way margined as though it were water
flowing down a creek washing away parts of the creek banks, like the points of
tension in your body being washed away. With each breath you take, with each

beat of your heart, with each blink-of your eyes feel yourself relaxing more
deeply - feeling loose, limp and restful. As you continue to inhale feel the
comfort and peacefulness of your body and as you exhale notice the absence of
tension. Your body and your mind reach an intimacy of relaxation, calming
harmonizing. Your confidence in your ability is strengthening. You're feeling
wonderfully good in each and every way. Each and every time you take a deep
cleansing breath. as you are now this feeling of peace, serenity and calm fills
your mind and body. All negative thoughts subside as if they too are being
washed away with each breath you take? Imagine your breathing dissolving all
unwanted thoughts and tensions like a cube of sugar being dissolved in a cup of
hot tea. Watch it disappear. Feel it disappear. As you continue to go deeper and
deeper with each gentle breath say to yourself that as a natural, healthy sleeper,
"I fall asleep quickly. I sleep deeply and I awaken refreshed in the morning. I
fall asleep quickly. I sleep deeply and I awaken refreshed in the morning. Want
it to happen. Expect it to happen. And watch it happen. Your powerful
subconscious mind quickly healing and releasing the conflicts of the day in
order to release yourself from the stream of unwanted thoughts that prevent you
from sleeping. See yourself having a good day. Having all the resources both
inside you and outside you to accomplish what you need to accomplish realizing
that life is a journey not a destination. Each moment relaxing making the next
moment all that much easier- feeling good about yourself - choosing a time to
awaken tomorrow morning and waking and enjoying the new found energy you
feel. Now continue to follow your breathing deeper and deeper into relaxation
until you enter a gentle, sound state of sleep. Follow your breathing and let it
carry you into a deep restful sleep from which you will awaken in the morning
totally refreshed. Rest now (pause) Sleep (pause) Sleeping (pause) Deep Sleep

MEMORY & RECALL #1
Realizing now that the true art of memory is the art of attention. In order to
remember something, you must first have paid attention to it. People who don't
remember things arc people who haven't paid attention to things. And so, each
and every day you now find yourself paying more attention to that which you
wish to remember. You're becoming much more observant of things that happen
around you. Those things that formerly escaped your attention are now more
and more being noticed and closely attended to by you.

In order to remember something you must first have properly stored the
information in your mind. By paying close attention and by observing, you
properly store the information in that marvellous computer we call the human
brain. And in that way the information is readily available to you ... whenever
you need it... whenever you want it.

So, from this moment on, each and every day, in every conceivable way you
find yourself utilizing your good memory. You always and in every way pay
close attention and you observe exactly what's going on around you... to exactly
what you see, feel, hear, taste and smell. You use all of your senses that are
appropriate .and applicable to the situation in which you find yourself. In this
way you assure yourself that the information you want and need is properly
stored and ready for you ... whenever you want it ... whenever you need it..

And when you do need any information that you have stored you never rely on-
force because force only leads to frustration. Instead, you simply relax,
concentrate your mind, request the information and then let it drift up to your
conscious awareness ... easily and naturally. In order to recall and remember
any information you want to, you simply let your subconscious mind know
exactly what you want. Let it know clearly and specifically. Actually form the
thoughts or. If possible, say it aloud. Think it clearly then forget about it. Forget
about the process of remembering it. Don't force it Above all, don't try to
remember. Trying will not hurry the memory and it may prevent it from coming
at all. When you've requested the information you wait patiently and the
memory is soon delivered..... sometimes when you least expect it.

You find yourself applying daily, both consciously and unconsciously, all the
facts, theories, principles and techniques you learned. You constantly apply the
principles of Motivation Association, Distribution, Repetition, over learning,
Concentration and Sensation in all learning situations in which you find
yourself. You retain a perfect conscious memory of the material you acquire in

this way. You find your ability to remember names, faces, facts, principles,
theories and details increasing daily. It's important for you to remember. You
want to remember and you will remember, easily and naturally. With no stress

You do have an excellent memory and you're beginning to realize this. You're
developing confidence in both your intelligence and in your ability to
remember. When you listen. you listen intently, and you remember what you
hear. When you observe, you observe closely, paying close attention to details
and you remember what you observe. When you read, you read with total and
absolute absorption in the material, and you remember what you read. .

You do have an excellent memory. And as the days pass, and as you properly
utilize. consciously and unconsciously, all that you've learned about the process
of remembering, you become surprised and amazed at how accurate and
effective your memory really is.

Each and every day your memory improves in every conceivable way and.
because of the power of your subconscious mind, you can and you will
remember and recall anything you choose.

MEMORY & RECALL #2
As you drift on down deeper and deeper relaxed, you're receptive to and accept
suggestions about memory and recall. The art of memory is the art of attention
and retention. You must pay attention to anything in order to remember it.
People who do not pay attention, do not remember. To remember something
you must pay attention. For instance, to remember a man's name you think of
the name, you look at the man, you associate them. Thus you automatically file
that name in your subconscious mind for further recall. You want to know the
man's name. You really want to remember. This is the process that you use to
remember anything: you concentrate your mind; you think, look, listen.
Associate and remember. .

In being able to recall something you have to have stored the information
properly, you have to have put the facts in your memory bank before you can
recall them. You have an excellent memory, you're going to use it; you're going
to pay attention. You must very literally pay close attention. That way you store
the facts properly in your memory bank and they're ready for you when you
want or need them.

From this moment on, every day, you utilize your good memory. You use your
good memory every day. You always pay attention. You pay attention to
exactly to what's going on around you; to exactly what is being said, to exactly
what you hear and to exactly what you see so that when you' need to go into
your memory bank to make a withdrawal you've already deposited something to
withdraw. The facts are properly stored and they're ready for you. They're ready
for you whenever you want or need them.

Your memory bank is just like any other bank. When you go into a bank to
withdraw some of your money, you don't hold them up with a pistol. You fill
out a withdrawal slip or write a check and have it cashed. You do the same
thing with your memory bank. It's not necessary to force your memory bank to
give you the information. You simply concentrate your mind, request the
information. relax and let it drift up to your conscious awareness. .

You have a good memory, an excellent memory. This is true for every single
living human being. Its part of the way we're made. You need only to use your
memory properly. Force only leads to frustration. In order to recall anything,
you simply let your subconscious mind know what you want. Anything you
want to know then comes into your conscious awareness naturally and easily. If
it doesn't come immediately, forget about it forget about the process of

remembering it. Don't try to force it. The information that you want washes up
on the sands of your conscious awareness in a few moments ... sometimes when
you least expect it. Any information that you want comes into your conscious

and thorough effect upon your mind, emotions, body and spirit as they seat
themselves in the deepest parts of your subconscious mind and they're available
for your use whenever you need them ... whenever you want

PAIN MANAGEMENT (GLOVE ANESTHESIA)
And as you continue to drift on down deeper and deeper to sleep, I'd like you to
picture and imagine yourself walking down a mountain path. Its midnight and
the middle of winter. You are bundled up in a coat, gloves, cap and boots.
Picture and imagine yourself outside in the cold winter air. and as you do just
take a big, deep, breath of fresh, pure mountain air. That's it. It feels so good to
breathe. Your entire: rib cage collapses in total. utter relaxation. The moon is
full and silvery and it's 20 degrees below zero, a bitter cold; and you can see
your breath in white puffs, and as you walk down that beautiful mountain path,
on either side of the path you can see tall, deep, green pine trees laden with
snow. The snow is knee deep and everything has a bluish tinge to it. Even the
snow looks blue. Ten minutes pass, twenty minutes, thirty minutes. Now you
can stop.

You take the glove off your right hand and you thrust your warm hand into the
snow. making a fist compressing the snow into an- ice ball in the palm of your
hand. And as you do, you can feel a numb, wooden, leather like sensation
beginning in your right palm. spreading-throughout your hand. And as you sit
there in your chair, I'd like you now to picture and imagine and feel this numb,
wooden, leather like sensation. You won't hear my voice for the next few
moments as you do this.

Very good. I'd like you now to place your right hand upon your right cheek.
Begin rubbing that right cheek very gently, and as you do, just let all that
numbness drain from your hand into your cheek. Your cheek becomes numb,
leathery and wooden - just as if Novocain has been injected into it. Take a few
moments now to do this.

You can also feel your hand becoming warm, alive. The blood is rushing back
into it. And all the numbness has drained from your hand into your cheek. You
can place your hand once again at your side... Now, once again, place your hand
on your cheek. Now let all the numbness in your cheek drain back into your
hand. Take a few moments now to do this. .

Notice how your hand is becoming once again leathery and wooden like, just
take a block of wood with nails in it, and your cheek is becoming hot and
flushed. The blood is rushing to the surface of the skin on your cheek, and when
all that- numbness has drained from. Your cheek back into your hand, once
again you can place your hand at your side. Take a few moments now to do this.

Your hand is now returned to its normal feeling. As you now return to this time,
and this place, in that chair, deep-asleep and drifting even deeper. And in the
future when you wish to rid yourself of any discomfort anywhere in your body,
all you have to do is close your eyes, take a deep breath, and as you do, I'd like
you to picture and imagine yourself just as calm and deeply relaxed as you are
now. Just. Let your mind drift back to this time and this place, so relaxed. You
can reinforce and strengthen this relaxation by saying to yourself five: times the
word; "RELAX."

And after you've done that, I'd like you to picture and imagine the hand of your
choice to grow very numb, wooden-like and leathery, just as it did a few
moments ago. You then place that hand on the part of your body that is causing
you discomfort, and allow this numb and heavy and wooden feeling to transfer
from -your hand into that part of your body. Within just a few moments you
find that part of your body growing very warm, restful and relaxed, free from all
pain, discomfort and unease. And that feeling remains with you for a very long
time afterwards. And each and every time you use this: technique you find it
easier than the time before, and it leaves you feeling even more free from pain,
discomfort and unease. Your subconscious mind helps you in every way to be
free from all unnecessary discomfort now and in the future.

PAIN MANAGEMENT (PAIN AS OBJECT IMAGERY)
And as you go deeper and even deeper down, relaxed, comfortable, so very
relaxed now, you are recognizing and realizing how many of us experience
sensations that we would regard as unpleasant... pain, discomfort, tension, stress
and strain...

Symptoms' are all very subjective experiences and sensations. We feel them, but
as we only know too well, it is often difficult to consciously modify feelings. It
is much easier to modify objects. So what we will do is change our unpleasant
sensations into an object.

If you now have a pain or discomfort just take that unpleasant sensation, the
pain or discomfort; and picture and imagine it as an object. And give it a shape.
It can be an abstract shape, without numbered sides or a top or bottom, or it can
be a concrete shape with easy to see lines. It can be a shape with geometric
design or a loose irregular circle like a puffy cloud floating in the sky, fluttering,
and changing, just a pretty bit of white fluff in a refreshing breeze. Whatever
shape comes into your mind is the right shape for you, the shape you want your
discomfort to be.

Now just continue to drift deeper down and you are realizing that the first shape
that comes into your mind is the best shape for you. Now concentrate on the
first shape. The best shape that is right for you and let it linger in your
subconscious and as you drift down even deeper you are giving that shape a
colour. And you are giving the shape a size. Picture and imagine that shape next
to some~ object you know. Or you can give it a size just by knowing its size and
you are realizing this is a symbol of your pain or discomfort. And you know the
larger the shape is" the more your discomfort is and the smaller the shape the
less your discomfort is. You are also realizing that the less vivid the colour is.
The weaker the colour is the less severe and significant it is.

I want you to practice now, changing the size of that shape or object. First make
it a little bigger and then take a deep relaxing breath and make it smaller. And if
you have any difficulty making it smaller just by picturing and imagining it to
be smaller, try a few techniques or tricks I am going to suggest to you now. If
the shape is a balloon put a needle into it or kick it away or throw it away. Put it
on a boat or truck or tie it to the tail of an airplane or a bird and let it go away.
And watching it becoming smaller and disappearing you are realizing that this
symbol now smaller and smaller is associated with your pain and it is becoming
less intense. All the discomfort just floating away like a tiny twig or leaf

floating down' a sparkling bubbly mountain stream or autumn leaves drifting
down from a tree in a lazy breeze.

And you are realizing and remembering now that you can make this symbol as
small and as comfortable as you want it to be. And you are making it smaller
and even smaller anytime you desire to do so, just buy closing your eyes and
taking a few deep lung filling, relaxing breaths.

And you are making it smaller by practicing making it bigger and then smaller,
because every time you do this you are developing skills, and with any skill, the
more you practice, the, more powerful the skill becomes. And you are making
this symbol smaller and smaller any time you desire to do so. Just by closing
your eyes and taking a few deep breaths and as you exhale feeling all the
tension leaving the chest area and the shape becoming smaller. The shape
smaller and smaller, drifting away, floating away and making the shape even
smaller anytime you want to.

When I awaken you, you can make the shape or symbol smaller and even
smaller anytime you close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and picture and
imagine in your mind's eye the best shape for you. Your shape becoming
smaller and then just drifting or floating away. Now whatever the discomfort
may be, see it smaller and smaller and just drifting away.

PROCRASTINATING I
Each time you listen to this tape, you are going to be more receptive
subconsciously to the suggestions that I will share with you. They will begin to
build like a fortress, block by block, stone by stone, as you build your life now
to be the greatest success, to earn the most money that you are possibly able to
earn.

You are going to find that beginning now you are success oriented and there is
nothing and no one who can keep you from becoming the success that you
desire to be. You expect to succeed now and you feel a sense of enthusiasm and
confidence in living your new attitudes every day.

First of all you are going to overcome procrastinating because you want to. You
are going to take a great deal of pride in the fact that you have matured and you
are taking control of your life and beginning to do the things that you put off in
the past. There will be no more nervousness or struggles as you leave behind the
old habits. You are getting yourself more organized and it becomes easy and
natural for you. And you feel a new healthier sense of accomplishment as you
cross the responsibilities and chores off your list.

You procrastinated sometimes when you faced something that you didn't want
to do. Until now you put those jobs off, but no more. You feel a sense of
urgency to complete and succeed at the things that need to be done. You realize
that to become the person that you want to be and know that you can be, you
have got to take care of some of those unpleasant things and you have got to
tackle them like the adult that you really are. You won't let jobs or tasks nag you
or pile up on you anymore.

You feel a sense of satisfaction as you accomplish more and more every day.
You go for it! And you will have no more immature resistance to yourself. You
are an honest adult and a responsible person and you want to get your life
progressing on the roc to success. You are going to leave procrastination behind
and enjoy a sense of maturing stronger emotionally and mentally every day.

Every day your work gets easier and easier to accomplish. You feel better every
day. You are going to start by getting those little things out of the way, the kind
of things that use to sidetrack you or divert your attention. Get the little things
out of the way. You will bring yourself up to date on busy work, whether they
be errands or paperwork or just simply doing or writing down those things for
you to do today. None of that will be there to bother you anymore.

You complete your tasks easily and comfortably and you will have confidence
in yourself and your abilities as you approach your new tasks. You will know
that you can get the job done well. Efficiently and properly. A lack of

there to bother you anymore as you feel as though you have grown out of that
feeling. You will know because you will have the right attitude. You are bound
to succeed. You apply yourself to everything that you set out to do and the work
and the success will come easily and effortlessly. You will enjoy the mature
feelings that come with solid accomplishment day after day and you will realize
that you are doing more than you ever thought you could. And that realization
will please you and give you the confidence to accomplish the next task that
needs to be done.

You are going to stop worrying when jobs come up and you are going to sense
the kind of person that is within you that enjoys the chance to produce. You will
delight in taking action right now doing it now! Your motto becomes "do it
now". There will be no more procrastinating trying to think of the best way or
the perfect way to do the job before you. You are going to become a doer rather
than a worrier. You will know that the only way to solve problems is to get
moving and that's what you will do.

SUGGESTIONS TO OVERCOME RESISTANCE
Isn't that interesting? That reveals how delicate those changes may be.
Sometimes they're almost unnoticeable when they first begin. And it's not really
necessary for you to consciously know what changes you are experiencing right
now. It's comparable to the way it is with other feelings of your body. Most of
the time you're unaware of the feelings you're experiencing in different parts of
your body. For example, I want you to notice your left foot now. If you have a
shoe on, notice the feeling of the shoe. Notice that you can feel the pressure of
the shoe on your foot. You weren't noticing those feelings in your left foot until
I called your attention to them. And as you are relaxing in that comfortable
chair, you have not been noticing a lot of other feelings that you're
experiencing. And the sexual changes you're experiencing may not be
noticeable at first, as your hormones begin their work and your nerves become
more alert. You may not be aware of those changes now. However, as they keep
increasing you will begin to sense them more and more.

And now I want you to notice the button that controls the lights that increases
your sexual desires and feelings. Turn that button to cause another light to come
on. You may or may not notice the physical changes associated with the
hormones that are being set free. And I'm not sure when you win- begin to
notice the difference. Your subconscious mind can cause you to experience that
awareness as soon as you are ready. It may happen slowly or you may become
aware of those enjoyable feelings and sensations quite quickly. You may merely
experience a growing sense of progressive changes, sort of a natural evolution: I
don't know if you will be aware of those changes tomorrow or sunday or eight
days from now. But you will be pleasantly surprised when you notice that you
are changing. And you'll be able to turn more and more of those lights on as
soon as you are ready. .

And as you continue to drift on down, deeper and deeper, you're realizing
perhaps for the very first time, that you are a grown person with the strengths
and abilities that have come with your years. You are acquiring confidence in
yourself. You feel growing within you the realization of the fact that you have
the ability to handle any situation you a may meet. You have confidence in your
ability to make decisions wisely. You make these decisions after considering the
consequences of your decisions. Once you've made a decision you rest content
in the knowledge that you've made a wise decision. You dismiss it from your
mind. You are acquiring confidence in your ability to make decisions wisely.
You're becoming flexible in your decisions. You make each decision-in .Light
of your best present knowledge. You're content with that decision when you
make it and if you acquire new knowledge you have the ability to make a new
decision in light of the new knowledge.

You have now, and shall continue to make new friends. These friends are
attracted to you because of your personality. You look upon each new
acquaintance as a possible friend. You like people, and people like you. It's easy
for you to make friends. You have confidence in your ability to meet and make
friends. You have many social assets. In meeting new people you're confident
that they will be interested in you. You're interested in the new people you meet.
You're confident in any social situation. You're confident of your ability to join
a group and become a part of that group. You're confident of your ability to
contribute something to that group, and to accept and enjoy the contributions of
others. You have confidence in your ability to enjoy yourself at a party. You're
confident in entering the room. You're confident in your own appearance, you're
confident and poised. You know that you're going to have a good time. You're
confident in joining activities and participating in games, confident in dancing,
and in asking for a dance. You have the ability to mix with the group easily and
freely. You talk easily and freely with absolutely no self-consciousness to those
about you. You listen with genuine interest when they talk. You're genuinely
interested in the people you meet. You're interested in their personalities, their
viewpoints. You're interested in people. You have confidence in your ability to
join a party, have fun, and thoroughly enjoy yourself.

Now I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself at a party, surrounded by many
of your friends, greeting your friends, also notice that some people with whom
you are unacquainted come up to you and introduce themselves to you. Picture
and imagine yourself mixing nicely and easily with all of the people, feeling

marvellously poised, exceptionally self-confident in the situation, totally at ease.
It's quite obvious that people like you, that people enjoy your company that they
like to listen to you. And as you mix with the crowd you're filled with feelings
of friendliness toward them. You feel their friendliness toward you. Feeling a
personal sense of friendship with everyone you speak to. In this situation you
are perfectly poised, self-possessed, free in your expression, at ease, having a
very enjoyable time, having fun, lots of fun. So much at ease, having so much
fun that automatically you are relaxed, calm, at case, exuding self-confidence,
self-assuredness, feeling so very, very good about yourself, and about your
ability to handle any situation, social, personal, or professional. Thoroughly
enjoying yourself in this situation.

And as you continue to drift on down you're also realizing some other things;
That if shyness is a problem in your life you're recognizing that your shyness is
an attitude that you've learned, which has nothing to do with your true worth as
a person, constantly reminding yourself that you perpetuate your problem every
time you hold back from a conversation, or turn down & party, every time you
concentrate on negative thoughts about yourself, every time you predict failure.
You're beginning to take on the challenge of testing the realty' of these
perceptions. You're determined to make a plan to do this and to reverse your
self-defeating attitude.

Day by day you're becoming increasingly more successful in feeding happy,


positive thoughts into your life. And as each day, passes you find yourself
making definite attempts to become vitally absorbed in some persons or things
outside yourself. You no longer think nearly so much about yourself, no longer
dwell nearly so much upon yourself and your difficulties and you become much
less conscious of yourself, much less preoccupied with yourself with your real
or imagined short-comings, with your feelings. And everyday you feel a greater
feeling of personal well-being, a greater feeling of personal safety and security
than you've felt for a long, long time. Each and every day feeling more and
more independent, more and more able to stick up for yourself, more and more
able to stand upon your own two feet; to hold your own no matter how difficult
or trying things may be. And all of these things begin to happen exactly as I tell
you they'll happen, beginning the very moment I awaken you. From that very
moment on you begin to feel much happier, much more contented, much more
optimistic, much more self-confident and much more self-assured. These
feelings continue to grow with each and every passing day.

And as you continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I'd
like you to picture and imagine yourself walking along a path in the woods. As
you walk along the path the sun is just beginning to filter down through the
trees and you feel the warmth of the sun on your face. A gentle breeze is
blowing and you can feel the gentle breeze playing in your hair. Up ahead is a
little pool of water with a waterfall. The path opens into a clearing by the pool
of water. The sound of the waterfall is£ extremely tranquilizing to you. The
water in the pool is crystal clear. It's a rather shallow pool and at the deep point
it's only shoulder high. I'd like you to walk into the water now and as you do
you notice that the water is like liquid velvet on your skin. The water has
miraculous healing and cleansing power. As it cleanses the body it also cleanses
away all of the old, ugly thoughts and feelings about yourself. All of the
thoughts and feelings that eat away at your self-confidence and self-
assuredness.

I'd like you to play in the water. Splash the water all around you. Submerge
yourself in the water, if you like. As you play and splash in the water, the water
washes away all of the old, negative programming and feelings of self-doubt,
fear, insecurity and inadequacy. AU these old, negative thoughts and feelings
are washed away in the healing water. I'd like you now to walk out of the water
and notice that you're completely dry. And you feel refreshed. You feel
refreshed, energized and renewed because all of those old, negative thoughts,
feelings and programming have been cleansed away and you can now see your
own abilities, potentials and priorities. You recognize now that the self-
confidence has always been there. It's simply been buried. And now you .can
see it and feel it. It becomes clearer and clearer to you with each and every
passing day. . .

Now I'd like you to let your mind drift back to a time and a place when you felt
self-confident, self-assured and in control of your life. Just let yourself drift
back to that time, that place and that situation. Take a few moments to do this
until you hear my voice again. (PAUSE) Now, your memory and your
imagination is very, very vivid and I'd like you to experience this situation as it
if were actually happening now. I want you to see, hear, feel, taste and smell, as
appropriate and applicable, everything you saw, heard, felt, tasted and smelled
then. (PAUSE) Now I’d like you to focus on your feelings and emotions ...
those feelings of abundant confidence, assuredness, poise, determination and
pride. That winning feeling. Experience these feelings completely and totally

slowly. You then let your mind drift back to that particular time, place and
situation. And as you do those same wonderful and marvellous feelings flood
through you once more. The only difference is that they're a hundred times
stronger.

Day by day you are becoming increasingly more successful in feeding happy,
positive thoughts into four life. And everyday you feel a greater feeling of
personal well-being, a greater feeling of personal safety and security than you've
felt for a long, long time. Each and every day feeling more and more
independent, more and more able to stick up for yourself, more and more able to
stand upon your own

two feet; to hold your own no rt:1atter how difficult or trying things may be. .

And all of these things begin to happen exactly as I say they will happen
beginning with the very moment I awaken you. From that very moment on you
begin to feel much happier, much more contented, much more optimistic, much
more self-confident and much more self-assured. These feelings continue to
grow with each and every passing moment of each and every passing day, as
you become and as you remain the person you want to be ... will be ... deserve
to be.

TAPE SCRIPT

Hello! M y n a m e i s - - - - - - - The purpose of this tape is to assist you in


creating the kind of life you have always desired - a more complete life, a very
fulfilling life. a peaceful and beautiful life. A life in which you choose to be in
complete control of your own destiny, by accepting yourself, - by approving of
yourself, by appreciating yourself, by respecting yourself and by loving yourself
far more now then you ever have before.

I'm now going to ask that you give yourself permission to enter into a
comfortable relaxed state of hypnosis. Find a place where you will not be
distracted or disturbed. Assume a relaxed, comfortable body position which
gives you a firm spinal support. Take a deep breath all the way down to the pit
of your stomach, and as you slowly release that breath, give yourself
pem1ission to close your eyes. Gently roll your eyes slightly up under your
eyelids and allow your entire body to relax completely. Take a second deep
breath and as you slowly and gently exhale imagine any remaining tension or
tightness leaving your body. With each breath you take, with each beat of your
heart, with each blink of your eyes, you simply allow .yourself to go deeper
and-deeper, and still deeper - and even deeper into relaxation. You're totally
releasing and completely letting go now. And as you relax and go deeper and
deeper within yourself, you understand that you have no conscious
responsibilities whatsoever. You have nothing to do at all. Just freely flow and
drift in your own pleasant thoughts. (PAUSE) and as I speak to your
subconscious mind now imagine that you're standing at the top of a stairway of
five beautifully carpeted steps. At the bottom of that stairway is a huge walk-in
vault with a large metal door on it. As you begin to walk down that stairway
you become aware that you're going deeper and deeper into relaxation and you
realize that that vault represents the inner most recesses of your subconscious
mind. As you reach the bottom step you notice that there is a combination lock
and a handle on that metal door. You reach out and turn the combination to the
right and it stops on the right number. You can feel the tumblers falling into
place. You turn it to the left and stop precisely where it's supposed to stop. Once
again you turn the combination to the right and it stops on the exact number.
The door slightly opens. You reach for the handle and pull the metal door open.
You notice a brightly lit vault with shelves of books on the right and the back of
the vault. There's a large trash can to the left. You walk inside and look at the
books to your right. There are titles and labels on these books. You read them

and they startle you for just a second. These titles and labels represent all the
negative ideas the negative feelings, and the negative behaviours you have ever
associated with yourself. You realize that these titles and labels are from the-
past which are affecting you today. You decide enough is enough. You reach
for the book that contains all the negative thoughts and ideas you ever had about
yourself. You take it down and without realizing it you tear the pages out so
rapidly that in a moment all you have left is the cover in your hand. You realize
that even the cover is unworthy of you so you throw it into the trash. You then
reach for the book that contains all the negative feelings you've had about those
thoughts. You take it frown and rip it to shreds and also trash it. Finally, feeling
courageous, you reach for the book which contains all the negative behaviours
which have been associated with those negative ideas and feelings. And with all
your strength and power you tear it apart and dump it in the trash. Satisfied now
you walk to the back of the vault and discover that the books on the shelves
there also have titles and labels that depict the real you. These titles and labels
reflect the wonderful, talented, capable and good qualities you accept as the real
you. You read these titles and they say: confident, talented, valuable,
remarkable, worthwhile, important, worthy, capable, horrific, skilled,
intelligent, social, and precious. You look at these books and you understand
them they describe you at your very natural best. You stand there feeling good
about yourself. You feel a warm swelling of pride deep within you, you accept
the fact, that the way you think, the way you feel and the way you act are
wonderfully good. They are the whole you and contribute in making you the
beautiful person you are. You feel a newness of energy and vitality. You think
of yourself positively. You believe in yourself. You feel poised. You feel
intelligent. You' feel talented, valuable and worthwhile in each and every way.
You know your friends love your warm and generous personality. You like
them and they like you. You now have more confidence in your talents and
abilities. You notice people noticing you and you are delighted. You think, feel
and act in positive ways. You feel assertive and secure. You have appeal. You
feel a special kindness toward yourself. You accept yourself as you truly know
yourself to be. You approve of yourself, and you love yourself f now far more
than before. If these ideas and feelings are acceptable to you let them be as
second nature to you as you’re breathing in and of itself, as the beating of your
heart. You turn now and walk to the door of the vault, knowing you can always
return to the vault to reinforce the real you. You close the metal door and walk
up the beautifully carpeted steps feeling fantastically refreshed. Now as I count
from the number 1 to the number 5, you return to full awareness at the number

five feeling positively refreshed. 1 - You feel calm peaceful and relaxed. 2 -
with each breath you take you're feeling wonderful good and confident all over.
3 from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. You accept all the positive
ideas and feelings about yourself. Every cell and fiber, muscle and tissue of
your body feels renewed. 4 - You feel as though you've been washed clean by
cool refreshing spring water - only new ideas, feelings and behaviours remain.
And 5 - take a deep breath and as you slowly release it give yourself permission
to open your eyes and return to full awareness.

SELF HYPNOSIS TRAINING PROGRAM
I. Place yourself in a semi-comfortable position. Do not lie down completely for
you may fall asleep.

2. Take three breathes and exhale slowly.

3. Two laws that govern self-hypnosis are:

a. Laws of repetition: by doing it over and over, you become better at it.

b. The law of association: the idea of associating to the state and to the keys that
you use.

4. Self-hypnosis is used to vent, release, and come back out of the hypnosis
state.

5. When in hypnosis, time distortion can take place it may manifest as either
expansion or contraction. Twenty minutes may seem as short as five or as long
as an hour.

Focus now on your toes to your ankles to your calf, knees and your thighs.

I am going to give you some words. These are the physical key words that relate
to the physical state. These are words that you relate to that will work the best
for you to trigger the self-hypnosis state. As you focus from your toes to your
thighs, I want you to listen to the words I am about to give you and I want you
to pick the word that you find yourself relating to most physically.

Heavy Feel the heaviness from the toes to your thighs

Floating Feel the floating feeling

Relaxation You know how that feels....

Lightness Feel the lightness of the area you are concentrating on.

Loose Feel the muscles all loose

Tingling Feel the tingling. Sensation

Now pick the physical key work that you relate to the most physically that have
the most physical affect on your physical state. Become aware of that feeling
and apply to your physical feeling as you focus from your toes to your thighs.

As you do, give yourself a general positive suggestion that applies to your
physical body.....

That is... My physical body continues to function -at peak efficiency each day,
every day. in every way imagine or visualize yourself doing things where your
physical body is functioning at its peak efficiency, getting the best out of your
body.

Now move your focus to your stomach and chest area,

Now I am going to give you some words that you respond or relate to
emotionally.

The word you choose is going to be the emotional key word that you are going
respond or relate to most comfortably and effectively.

Calmness Feel the calm feeling spreading in that part of your body as
you become more relaxed.

Confidence Feel yourself feeling confident

Success Feel the feeling of success

Happy You know what that feels like....

Joy Feel yourself feeling the joy, whatever that may be.

Contentment Feel the feeling of contentment...You know what that feels

Peace See what it feels like to feel peaceful when you say peace to

While focusing, give yourself a general positive emotional suggestion and say",

Now, see, imagine, or visualize yourself being where you're not emotionally
stable. Where you may feel anxious, nervous, out of control. But instead, see
yourself in this situation with a calm and stable

This is the conditioning process that you can master after a while which will
have a profound effect on your life once you do master this association ability. .

Once you developed this technique, you will be able to simply take a deep
breath and reach this state of relaxed, calm, emotional state instantly at will.

Now I am going to give you the intellectual key word... A universal keyword
for everyone...

That is... Deep sleep.

You are going to use this word to allow yourself to go into the hypnotic state of
deep sleep. By saying this word, you will find yourself going into a deep
hypnotic deep sleep state where you become most suggestible to the suggestions
you will give yourself.

Now feel yourself feeling very relaxed physically, emotionally, and mentally
using the keywords that you have chosen.

Say these words to yourself and say that

I am now physically, emotionally and mentally relaxed.

Allow yourself to feel your eye balls rolling upward as you become more
saturated with the feeling of deep relaxation and then rest your eyes as you
become more comfortable with relaxation.

Know this feeling. Know that you're there. Feel it....... Know it

Now imagine yourself standing on top of a staircase with 20 steps Feeling


very safe and secure.

You can imagine or visualize yourself holding on to the railing to feel secure
and safe and happy.....

Tell yourself that with each step you come down, you're positive emotions will
be reinforced... Feelings such as being more confident, more in control...

Now, say to yourself...

My physical body continues to function at peak efficiency each day, every day,
in every way...

My emotions remain calm, stable each day, every day and in every way. Feel
your eyes, let your eyes go up, and relax. As you relax, tell yourself what ever I
read, see, hear, or do come into consciousness by desire. See yourself in that
situation where you are reading, studying, hearing, taking an exam, see the
information you have in your sub consciousness coming right up to your
consciousness. See yourself sending a message to your sub consciousness and it
is coming right up for you at will-each time and every time I use my formula
and my key words, I will enter the hypnotic state soundly, deeply, and
completely and I will be able to control the depts.

Each time and every time I count from 0 to 5, 5 representing wide awake, I will
awake at five and my mind will be clear and alert. I will feel.

STAGE FRIGHT
And as you continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I'm
going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind... suggestions
which it will find reasonable, acceptable and in your best interests.

You like people. You enjoy the company of other people. You enjoy doing
things for other people. You enjoy making people happy, and other people sense
this feeling in you. People are aware that you like them and they return the
feeling and you find that people like you. You are at ease when you are with
people. And when you stand before a group or audience you're filled with
feelings of friendliness for them. You feel their friendliness to you. You
experience a feeling of warmth and fellowship radiating from the members of
the group or audience to you. And you have a feeling that they are on your side.
And you in turn feel friendly to them. You are interested in them. You wish to
do things for them. You are so interested in them that you feel a personal sense
of friendship with every member of the audience. Your sense of friendship is so
great that (talking, singing, acting, performing) to these people is just like
(talking, singing, acting, performing) to the one who loves you most in the
whole world. In this particular situation you are perfectly poised, self-possessed
and-free in your expression. You feel at ease. You enjoy doing this for your
friends. You're having a very enjoyable time. You're having fun; you're having
lots of fun. You find the same satisfaction in this act that you find in doing a
favour for the one who loves you most. You are so much at ease and you have
so much fun that automatically you are relaxed and poised and calm. Your lips
are flexible, your mouth is moist, your breathing is deep from the diaphragm,
and your hands are poised and calm. Your gestures, words and movements flow
spontaneously and freely. Your legs are strong beneath you. You are peaceful.
You are secure and confident in this situation. Your eyes automatically travel
over the audience with a sparkle, and there is a smile in your heart which comes
to your lips spontaneously at the proper times.

Now, I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself (speaking, singing, acting,
performing) before an audience. You're calm, you're poised. You have full
control of all your faculties, you feel totally confident. There is a rapport with
the audience. Visualize yourself now just the way you want to be. Imagine
yourself as a fully accomplished (speaker, singer. actor. performer). Now
remember. your responsibility is to keep the proper pictures in the mind,
because the subconscious has the ability and the tendency to actualize pictures
held in the mind. If you hold the picture of success long enough the mind will

actualize that picture. So your responsibility is to keep only positive, successful
pictures in your mind, and as you do the subconscious mind will actualize those
pictures and you will be rewarded with gratifying success.

Now I'm going to give you some more suggestions that will enable you to be an
effective public speaker. You are poised, spontaneous, and free in all your
contacts with other human beings. You're especially poised when you're before
.the public, and when you're being introduced you feel a wave of understanding
and friendship for your entire audience. As you're introduced you feel their
friendship radiating toward you. You (perform, sing, speak, act), confidently
and you enjoy the act of (performing, speaking, singing, acting). You're poised
and you're master of the situation at all times. Your lips are flexible and your
mouth is moist. You breathe deeply, from the diaphragm. Your hands are poised
and calm. The gestures flow spontaneously and freely. Your legs are strong
beneath you. You are secure and confident. Your eyes automatically travel over
the audience, searching out your friends in the farthest rows. There is a smile
within you which spontaneously comes to your lips at the proper time. When
your (performance, speech) is concluded you are warmed and gratified by the
applause. You talk graciously with full confidence to those who congratulate
you after the performance. You had a thoroughly enjoyable time. And the whole
idea is symbolized by thought and poise. Stage Fright is no longer a part of your
life.

However, if at any time in the future those old feelings of apprehension or


nervousness should return, what I'd like you to do at those times is close your
eyes, take a deep, lung-filling breath and let it out slowly. You then let your
mind drift back to this time and this place, in that chair, feeling so very calm
comfortable, relaxed, peaceful and serene. You then think or say to yourself the
word "calm" for a total of five times. You then take another deep breath, exhale,
open your eyes and go about your business and as you do, all fear, nervousness
or apprehension is immediately replaced by feelings of calm, relaxation, poise,
peace and tranquility. And this is how it shall be now and in the future, as you
become and as you remain the (speaker, singer, actor, performer) you want to
be... will be... deserved to be.

STRESS MANAGEMENT
Day by day, in every conceivable way, you are becoming increasingly more
able to handle all those situations that previously elicited stress, tension and
anxiety. In doing this, you find yourself following certain guidelines. .

You no longer fall back or resort to irrational behaviour and/or habit forming
substances. You now know that irritability, shouting, fuming and carrying on do
little to alleviate the tension and are often counterproductive when we consider
the potential for harm such irrational behaviour carries for relationships with
friends and family who must bear the brunt of our attacks. In addition, you
resolve not to seek solace in the increased consumption of alcohol, tobacco or
drugs since these only add physical injury to an already strained body and
mind.'

You're also realizing now that the danger is not in the stressful situation or
experience but rather in your individual reaction to it. Stress is precipitated by
any change in the life situation - whether that change be positive or negative.
Since change is an immutable fact of life then it naturally follows that so is
stress. However, we definitely do have a choice in the way we react to these life
situations. The key to handling stress and tension is in recognizing your own
stress signals and then taking some positive steps. Although these signals are
not often as clear as you might wish them to be, they can be recognized if a
close watch is kept. Some common sighs are irritability, increased smoking or
drinking, insomnia, uncharacteristic physical or mental errors - so called "dumb
mistakes" –physical tension and nervous tics. More and more, you are
beginning to be able to recognize your own stress signals and take definite
actions to counteract them. At the first sign of these signals you resolve to
withdraw a bit and take stock of the situation and your reactions to it.

You're also beginning to locate and be aware of the sources that cause stress in
your life. You're making time to take a close and critical look at your personal
relationships with people both important and seemingly unimportant in your
life. You include friends, family employers and employees, neighbours and
even casual acquaintances in your observations. You also find yourself looking
inward and examining yourself. You're asking yourself some hard and searching
questions such as, "Do 1 make unreasonable demands upon myself and those
around me? Am I inflexible in my decisions? Am I too rigid in my philosophy
of life?" You1ealize that you can minimize stress by learning to accept, live
with and take a reasonable view of your limitations.

You're learning to be realistic in your responses to the repeated stress situations
you find yourself in. If you can, you try to change the situation by talking to and
negotiating with the other person or persons causing or contributing to the
stress. If the situation cannot be changed. then you accept that fact. There is no
written or unwritten law of the universe that says that this person should not or
must not do whatever it is that he or she is doing that distresses you. It would be
nice if they didn't but since they are and if they're determined not to change than
you must decide what is more important to you - the advantages of the job,
person relationship or whatever the life situation may be, or the potentially
disadvantageous effects to your physical or emotional well-being - whatever
that may be.

You're also beginning to realize that there is no written or unwritten law of the
universe that says you must or have to react to the situation the way you do.
You do have a choice. The choices may not always be attractive ones and they
may indeed be the lesser of two evils but there is a choice. Depending upon the
situation, you may then feel it more advantageous to leave it if the stress and
tension it causes you are greater than the reasons for staying.

You are also acquiring confidence in your ability to make these decisions. Once
you have made a decision, you rest content in the knowledge that you have
made a wise decision. You dismiss it from your mind. You are acquiring
confidence in your ability to make decisions wisely.

You also resolve to get adequate exercise and recreation. Studies have shown
that people who engage in regular exercise tend to enjoy better health, sleep
better and are generally better able to cope with the stresses and tensions of
everyday living.

Day by day you become more and more successful in feeding positive, happy
relaxing thoughts into your mind. You accept more and more strongly that you
are responsible for your emotions that you decide whether you will be happy or
miserable tense or relaxed. It's not external events that make you happy or sad
relaxed or stressful but the attitude you take to these events.

With ever increasing frequency, you are able to accept people and things as they
are, seeing that compromise and reasonable solutions are both necessary and
possible.

More and more you find yourself substituting the habit of relaxation for the
habit of stress. For it is a fact that the human mind and body cannot be both
stressful and relaxed at the same time.

And should you ever find yourself in a stressful or trying situation, and lets face
it, we all do at times. You'll find it possible to relieve the stress and tension
easily and naturally. And to help you with this I am now going to teach you a
simple but powerful technique.

Should you ever find yourself in a stressful or trying situation all you have to do
is close your eyes, take a deep breath and. as you exhale, picture and imagine
yourself as calm, peaceful and deeply relaxed as you are now. Then to reinforce
this relaxation you say or think to yourself five times the word "CALM". Then
you take another deep breath, exhale, open your eyes and go about your
business. As you do this you will immediately begin to relax. Stress, tension and
anxiety just fade away and are immediately replaced by calmness, confidence,
and relaxation, assured and poised.

STRESS REDUCTION WITH PROTECTIVE SHIELD
And drifting way down relaxed now... and just allowing your entire body to rest
and relax ... and as you go even deeper all distractions just seem to disappear ...

I want you to concentrate on your breathing ... breathing in pure relaxation and
exhaling all the tension in the body... feel all of the tension leaving the chest
area as you exhale ... feel yourself relaxing even deeper with each and every
breath ... and your breathing is so regular ... so easy and effortless and you are
relaxing more and more ... and your entire body is completely and totally
relaxing as you drift even deeper down with each and every breath ... and you
feel a warm wonderful sense of relaxation and going even deeper down...

And you may have noticed that some areas of the body are easier to relax ... and
concentrating on the areas of the body that you find to be (he most comfortable,
very relaxed, and concentrating on these areas now, you are recognizing and
realizing what there is about those areas that makes you so comfortable and so
very relaxed ... and feeling all the sensations in those areas ... the most relaxed
and comfortable parts of your body... .

And allowing ... and feeling the comforting sensations of the most relaxed areas
of the body begin to spread... and as this marvellous warm wonderful feeling of
relaxation spreads to other parts of the body, the feeling of relaxation becomes
stronger and the relaxation spreads out beyond those areas ... and continuing to
spread to all the parts of the body you desire to relax deeper and even deeper ...

Picture and imagine the relaxation spreading like the rays of sun .. gently
warming and relaxing ... like the rings of water spreading from a pebble tossed
into a gentle pond ... and the relaxation spreading to every muscle, cell, fiber
and bone in your body... and you are enjoying this tranquil and peaceful
relaxation in every part of your body... and with every passing moment this
feeling of deep, tranquil and comforting relaxation becomes stronger and every
cell, nerve and part of you body knows and enjoys this wonderful sensation ..,
and this wonderful feeling now goes out beyond the physical confines of your
body... spreading out beyond the skin to form a protective shield around you ...
and you can let this feeling spread far ... far ... beyond your physical body... or
keep it close like a second skin ... .

And since this protective bubble or shield is your own creation you can do with
it what you wish .., you could use this shield in any way you want to ... the uses
of this shield are limitless... it can act as a filter, to filter out those feelings or

things going on around you ... and filtering situations that are uncomfortable
and allowing you to let in those feelings you wish to let in and experience ... and
it can act as an amplifier to help you understand people and to help people

And this protective bubble can be invisible or visible to a few people or as many
people as you want it to be ... and you are using this protective shield any way
you choose to use it... and that is okay... because this shield is your own creation
... and you are using this shield and enjoying comfort in every part of your
body... practicing and using this shield... and allowing it to spread ... and
allowing it to go beyond the confines of your physical body... and you can
experiment with it... making it as large as you like... using it as a transport to
another place or time ... and the more you use it the stronger it becomes. .

And realizing now that then I awaken you ... you can return to this place of
peace tranquility and deep relaxation and use this shield any time you desire to
do so ... and you are using this shield and feeling the relaxation spread to all the
parts of your body...

IMPROVING STUDY HABITS
And as you continue to drift on down, I'm going to present some suggestions to
your subconscious mind. Suggestions which it will find reasonable, acceptable
and in your best interests.

Each and every day, in every conceivable way, your study habits continue to
improve: More and more, you begin to think of yourself as a good student, a
good learner, a fast learner. You're just like an athlete who's about to go into
training. An athlete must learn how to move. He or she must learn the process
of their particular sport before they can accomplish anything. And you are an
athlete who is beginning the process of bettering your study skills so that you
can accomplish your particular goal.

I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself in a place you've chosen as your
study area. You feel comfortable in this place. Before you settle down to study
you always make sure that you have all the books, notes and materials at hand.
As you study your concentration on your books, notes and all your study
material is complete and absolute. And to assist you in your concentration, I'm
now going to teach you a simple yet powerful technique that will enable you to
concentrate completely and totally on your studying.

From now on, whenever you wish to concentrate on your studying all you have
to do is close your eyes, take a deep, lung-filling breath, hold it for a moment
and then exhale. You then place the palms of your hands over your closed
eyelids and say or think to yourself the word "concentrate" for a total of five
times. You then take another deep breath, exhale, drop your hands from your
eyes, open your eyes and begin studying. And as you do, you will begin to
concentrate. Your thoughts start to narrow down to the task at hand. All your
senses become attuned to and vitally absorbed in your studying. Within the next
few moments the rest of the world just seems to fade away so that for you there
exists only your studying. Your concentration rapidly becomes perfect and
remains that way for as long as it takes to complete that particular study session.
Your concentration is unbroken unless there's some real and necessary reason
for you to attend to other things. And in the event your concentration is
temporarily broken, you find that you quickly regain it as you return to your
studying.

As you study you're able to absorb all of the information you need. You retain
all of the information you've absorbed and you can recall all of this information
quickly and easily, whenever you need it ... whenever you want it. You're

confident in your abilities and your intelligence. You learn more quickly now
because of all the learning you've accomplished in the past. You're talented and
eager to reach your goal. And because you're eager to reach your goal you're

you. There's an enormous sense of accomplishment when you complete a study
session ... a sense of knowing that you've done a good job ... a tremendous
feeling of satisfaction that you're doing what you need to do to accomplish your
goals. You're enthusiastic and eager to study because the results will be so very,
very positive for you.

Now, I'd like you to picture and imagine that you've studied, absorbed all the
information that you need and you now feel confident and at ease. You're
completely prepared and I'd now like you to imagine applying what you've
learned and reaching your goal. See and feel... picture and imagine ... your goal
as if it were an accomplished fact. Just imagine how an athlete feels when
they've accomplished their goal... played a perfect game, run the fastest race or
scored the most points. You're just like an accomplished athlete... successful,
happy, motivated and rewarded for your work. Your consistency and dedication
have paid off. You feel absolutely marvellous, wonderful and confident as you
shall continue to feel to an even greater degree each and every day.

Just sit back and close your eyes. That's right. Take a deep breath now and as
you slowly exhale gently roll your eyes up under your eyelids and drift into a
comfortable state of hypnosis. With each breath you take, with each beat of
your heart, with each blink of your eyes you give yourself permission to drift
deeper into relaxation. Let the cares of the world take care of themselves as you
turn inwardly to your memory, your imagination and your feelings. For a
moment simply drift and float in your own pleasant ideas and feelings of calm
relaxation. That's right -Now as you continue to relax you begin to imagine and
feel the power of your subconscious mind. For the more you relax the more
powerful the subconscious becomes. You realize that as you relax your ability
to focus and concentrate are enhanced. You learn that the more you relax the
more easily you retrieve information from your memory. So you now choose to
allow your relaxation to assist you in your learning as well as enhancing your
abilities to recall all that you have learned. Whether you are studying, reading,
or attending a class lecture your subconscious assists you by relaxing you and
enabling you to concentrate and learn completely. Your understanding
amplifies. And the more you understand the more confident and relaxed you
become knowing you know and when tested all will know that you know what
you know. So each and every time you enter into hypnosis and practice your
deep relaxation you enhance you're learning and concentration and know that

And as you continue to drift on down, so calm, so comfortable, so relaxed, I'm
going to present some suggestions to your subconscious mind ... suggestions
which it will find reasonable. Acceptable and in your best interests.

You're understanding now, both consciously and subconsciously, that


everything you are, everything you feel, is a frame of mind. Youth and sexuality
is also a frame of mind. And you feel very young ... very sexual. Feel that
youthful energy and sexual vitality flowing through you. It's a vitalizing,
dynamic energy that draws away any fatigue, any lassitude from you and
replaces it with enthusiasm and vigour... mental, emotional, physical and sexual
energy, vitality and enthusiasm.

Picture and imagine yourself growing younger physically, mentally and


sexually. In order to help your mind and body you now resolve to get sufficient
rest; the rest that you need to maintain abundant energy. Each night as you
prepare to sleep you close your eyes and you take some deep breaths. You allow
your mind and body to completely and totally release and relax and then you
drift very quickly and easily into a beautiful, restful sleep. As you sleep you
have beautiful dreams. Those dreams help you process through any problems
that you've had during the day. So, each morning when you awaken you feel
rested, refreshed and relaxed. You have abundant energy, physically and
sexually... positive flowing energy, not nervous or static energy but positive,
flowing, abundant energy. Each morning when you awaken you look forward to
the day. You feel good about yourself and the whole world around you. You
feel, once again, a youthful flow of energy. The excitement of each day,
whether you are working, playing or staying at home, greets you as you awaken.
Whether you get four hours of sleep or eight hours of sleep, you are completely
rested when you awaken because you process through all of the problems of the
preceding day during the sleep state. You get the rest you need to have abundant
energy.

Feel your mind and body beginning to revitalize itself as you feel young
physically mentally and sexually. In order to help your body, you eat the proper
foods; the nutritious foods, the foods that help replace the vitamins and minerals
in your system. You give your body the fuel it needs to produce the positive,
flowing energy it needs. You eat the foods that help you feel good physically as
well as mentally. You avoid any substances that would make you feel scattered
or that drain your energy.

You no longer worry needlessly. You replace the worry that ages you with
objective and rational thoughts so that you can deal with your problems in a
positive way. If at any time you feel yourself beginning to worry! if at any time

feel calm and relaxed. You then center and see the things that are happening
around you in a cIear and objective way and if there is anything you can do
about a problem in the here and now, you do it. If there is nothing you can do at
this point in time, you release it and let it go.

You also get the proper exercise that you need to help you feel and look
younger and enjoy fulfilling sexual relations. You're helping your body by
exercising, whether it's just taking a few extra steps here and there or organized,
planned exercise. You automatically exercise to help your body in regenerating
itself and in toning and trimming. It's natural to be in perfect health and feel
good physically as well as mentally. It's natural to enjoy sexual activity no
matter what your chronological age may be.

You pay more attention to your personal grooming so you look and feel
younger and arc more sexually attractive to your partner. You look and feel the
way you want to look and feel. Understand that youth is a frame of mind and
you feel young ... physically, mentally, emotionally and sexually.

Your understanding now that chronological age is not a barrier to sex. Your
sexuality, regardless of age, is an affirmation of yourself as a physically vital

WEIGHT CONTROL - THE IDEAL SELF
TAPE SCRIPT

This tape is designed to assist you in changing your image to make it more
positive, healthy, vibrant and to help you to look the way you want to look and
feel. Listen to this tape often. Its effects are compounded with each use. Every
time you listen to this tape the feelings and results for you are different and
more profound. You find it progressively easier to relax deeply with each use,
allowing your subconscious mind to make new associations each time to firm
your convictions your mind and body. The impressions that you make on your
subconscious mind in this relaxed state are like engraved images in stone. They
are permanent. Because of these suggestions for deep relaxation this tape is
never to be played while driving a vehicle.

Find yourself in a comfortable place where you will not be disturbed or


distracted. Assume a comfortable body position with spinal support. Pick out a
spot on the ceiling and stare at that spot. Take a deep breath all the way down to
your stomach. Hold it for a moment or two and then gently and slowly release it
and as you do give yourself permission to close your eyes. Roll your eyes up
under your eyelids and notice the rapid movement of your eyelashes. Focus
your attention on your eyelids and give them permission to relax completely.
Relax them so completely that they feel as-though they will not open. Enjoy that
relaxed feeling. so peaceful that you are certain they will not open. Enjoy and
feel the relaxation in your eyes and begin to feel it .spreading to your entire
body. With each breath you take with each beat of your heart you relax more
deeply, totally releasing, completely letting go. Each time you exhale you
diminish the amounts of tension or tightness in your body. You feel the
relaxation covering your body as though it were being covered by a soft warm
fluffy blanket. Now just drift back in time and remember a time from your
distant past when you were not responsible for providing for your own meals.
Who was responsible for your meals? What do you think this person's attitude
was about food? What was this persons attitude toward body size? (pause) Now
make a choice about how you would like your attitude to be. Surround your
mind completely around this new choice. Take a deep breath and hold this
attitude in place with the breath and as you slowly let it out feel this attitude
being locked in your subconscious mind. And now go very deep, deeper and
deeper within yourself. Feel a letting go within your entire mind and body. Now
bring to mind a place where you feel very comfortable. Feel yourself there.
You're very relaxed, calm and peaceful. (pause) In your mind's eye, set up a

circle of chairs. Six chairs. Seat yourself in one of these chairs. In the other
chairs see yourself at different ages. See yourself at the ages you can imagine
vividly. Notice the similarities. Notice the differences. And the evolution of
yourself from age to age. There are a few chairs vacant. One of these chairs is
for your ideal self. How does this ideal self look? How docs this person feel
about himself or herself? How does this person act? What is this person's
clothing size'? From this group composed of yourself at different ages - what
strengths can each contribute to create the ideal self? What changes does this
group need to make in attitudes, beliefs and behaviours in order to shape and be
the ideal self? See how each of these younger representations of yourself is
reflected in the ideal self.

Commit to one item you are willing to improve on today -just one. Know that
you are the ideal self. Each time you think of the ideal self the image is closer.
Lock you mind firmly in this image and it is your reality. Now imagine yourself
in a library. Find a section in this library with your name on it. Find a book that
has a title "Excuses for' poor eating habits." Take that book off the shelf. Open
it up. Tear out the first page. Rip it into small pieces and throw it in the trash.
Now tear out each and every excuse for eating poorly. Tear them up and throw
them away. You won't need them anymore Throw away the cover also. There is
no further need to make excuses. Now look for a different book with the title
"The Ideal Self. Open that book and find a blank page. What you say to yourself
in private is what you become. Write the following affirmations on this blank
page. Feel their power as you write them down. I give myself permission to
have the healthy, firm, attractive body that is my ideal self. I am enjoying eating
healthy foods. I am the master of my impulses and desires. I am enjoying the
feeling of the movement of my body. I acknowledge myself for whom I really
am. I am comfortably satisfying myself with smaller portions of food. I give
myself permission to have a healthy, firm attractive body that is my ideal self. I
am liking myself for whom I really am. I am comfortably satisfying myself with
smaller portions of food. I am enjoying eating healthy foods. I am the master of
my impulses and desires. I give myself permission to have a healthy, firm,
attractive body that is my ideal self. Consider what you have written. Know that
these affirmations are true for you. Want them to happen. Expect them to
happen. And watch them happen. Make them your reality. Feel the profound
wonderful change within yourself. Now as you hear the count from I to 5 expect

really sharp in perhaps a bathing suit or a pair of shorts or slacks or jeans ...
something you know you look good in now that you've lost the weight. And
right then right there right here, right now you know you'd never trade those
marvellous feelings back for the fattening foods. It's just not worth it. Changing
the desire for all the fattening foods into a tremendous desire for health and
happiness ... a tremendous desire for a slim, trim thin fit more attractive, vital
and energetic you. Finding now that the only foods you really need ... the only
foods you really want...are those foods you know are good for you.

Picture and imagine yourself sitting down to a meal in a restaurant. Notice how
your eyes are automatically drawn to and you find yourself automatically
ordering the lower calorie. less fattening items on the menu. You now find
yourself ordering and thoroughly enjoying such items as fish, fowl, perhaps the
lean meats and salads. These items are so much more appealing and satisfying
to you now.

Picture and imagine yourself sitting down to a meal either home or in a


restaurant it doesn't really matter. Notice how you're eating more slowly, taking
smaller bites, chewing your food more thoroughly. Getting the last ounce of
satisfaction ... the most mileage out of each and every bite. Getting more filling
satisfaction out of less food. finding a full feeling in your stomach much much
sooner than usual. The less you eat the better you feel. The less you eat the
happier you become. The less you the peaceful, relaxed and calm you become.
Eating only enough to sustain your health. That's all you reaIly need - all you
really want - all you really care about.

Picture and imagine yourself the size and shape you want to be. You're standing
in front of your closet looking at all those clothes you wouldn't wear...couldn't
wear when you were overweight but now that you've lost the weight you sure
can wear them again. I'd like you to reach into the closet and take out a
favourite article of clothing. Try it on. Notice how good you look in it. Notice

how well it now fits and notice how wonderful that makes you feel. Realizing
you'd never trade those wonderful feelings back for the fattening foods. It's just

the shower. There's a scale there. Step on it and look down. Notice what it
reads. It's exactly the weight you want it to read. Take a look in the mirror. The
stomach's a lot flatter now, isn't it? Noticing that you've lost the pounds and the
inches exactly where you wanted to lose them in exactly the amounts you
wanted to lose them. Realizing you'd never trade that beautiful feeling back for
the fattening foods.

Because you want to become slim and trim you're appetite is now easily
satisfied by much much smaller amounts of food than you've been used to.
Eating only those foods that are healthful and nutritious to you ... eating them
only in the amounts that are necessary to attain and then maintain your ideal
weight. .

You have no desire for any more than that.

Because you want to become slim and trim any desire you may have or might
have ever had for (name the fattening foods) is now tremendously outweighed
by an overwhelming and continually growing commitment to health, happiness,
slimness, trimness but, above all, a firm commitment towards attaining and
maintaining your ideal weight. That commitment is so strong and so powerful
that it easily and unconsciously controls your appetite. You automatically eat

Each and every day in every conceivable way your attitudes and ideas about
food are changing. Gradually, definitely, your attitudes and beliefs about food
and eating are changing for the better. You're becoming less and less interested
in food in general. All desires to overeat are fading away. Every day in every
way you think less and less about food and eating.

Finding now that you enjoy food in moderate quantities, but anything more than
you absolutely need for good health and nutrition simply doesn't interest you.
You're feeling better and better as you eat less and less. You're eating less
because you want less. You actually want less. Everyday day you want less and
less. The time that you used to spend thinking about food is now being directed
into healthier, more productive channels. Every day, in every way, you're
becoming more and more satisfied with less and less food. .

Finding now that you eat for health and nutrition only. Eating is not a substitute
for anything else. You may have problems, personal or professional, from time
to time but you no longer try to solve or forget about these problems by eating.
If you're upset, disappointed or emotionally distraught about anything, you no
longer think of eating to solve your problems. Eating is for nutrition only. You
can and you will solve your problems without resorting to food.

You likewise do not think of food as a reward. When things are going well for
you now find it easy to resist overeating. Not wanting to overeat makes you feel
even better.

You also do not compensate for disappointments by eating. Realizing now that
food doesn't make you feel any better in times of disappointment. You now find
it easy to resist overeating, even in times of disappointment. .

Realizing also that food is not a substitute for love or attention. You no longer
try to fill any conscious or subconscious need for love and attention by eating.
Food may have been associated with love and attention when you were younger
but you're an adult now. So you no longer associate food with love. Everyday,
in every way, you find it easier and easier to avoid overeating.

You do not eat just because you're bored. When you are bored or apathetic you
instead direct your energy toward other activities besides eating. Any time you
even begin to feel bored, your subconscious mind automatically directs you to
activities that take your mind away from eating.

You now eat only when you're physiologically hungry and your body needs
food. You're subconscious mind knows the difference between real hunger and
fool's appetite. You've heard of fool's old. Inexperienced prospectors used to
find and collect it, travelling many weary miles back to-civilization hoping to
sell it, only to be disappointed and frustrated. Fool's appetite is just like fool's
gold. When you mistake it for real body needs you're always frustrated and
disappointed as a result of eating Boredom is not hunger. Worry is not hunger.
Disappointment is not hunger and frustration is not hunger. These feelings are
fool's appetite and you're certainly not a fool. You were born to be a unique.
one-of-a-kind individual and you are what you were created to be.

Realizing now that energy is both physical and mental you find that you have
more energy as you eat less. More productive, more rewarding activities are
taking the place of eating. Eating is becoming less and less important as an
activity in your life. Because you're eating less, you're becoming more
interested in the quality of your food and drink your subconscious mind directs
you to be more interested in the quality of the food you eat and in the beverages
you drink. When you're hungry, for example, fresh fruit appeals to you more
than anything else. And when you're thirsty water appeals to you more than
anything else. You're becoming more and more interested in the nutritional
qualities of the food you eat. Wanting only those foods that contribute to your
good health and nutrition.

Your subconscious mind is directing your body to make good use of the food
you eat. Because you're becoming more energetic, more of the food you eat is
being used for energy. Your body takes what it needs for energy, good health
and nutrition and passes the rest out of your system. Your subconscious mind is
instructing your body to get rid of excess food. You will not store it as fat. Any
fat that does exist is now being burned for energy.

Now then, for the next few moments I'd like you to think of your body as if it
were an automobile's engine. And your digestive system is like the engine's
carburettor. The purpose of the carburettor is to process the fuel and make sure
that the engine gets the proper amount it needs to operate efficiently. And you
know what happens when the carburettor gets too much fuel. It causes the
engine to run very, very sluggishly... far below its maximum efficiency.

And so the very same thing happens to you when you overeat. You become
very sluggish, very tired, very fatigued and, like the engine, you're unable to
operate at your maximum efficiency. But all that's changing now. As you eat
less, your body is making more effective use of the food you eat and you're
becoming more and more energetic and healthier. You can feel this happening
day by day and you enjoy it. You have more energy and you get more done.
Everyday you're becoming more and more aware of the fullness of life and
you're enjoying life ever so much more ... eating less and becoming less and less
interested in food in general.

Now picture and imagine yourself the size and shape you want to be '" will be -
deserve to be. And know and realize, both consciously and subconsciously, that
this is how you are becoming. See and feel yourself, slim, trim, thin, fit, happy,

I'd like you to go back in time now. Go back in time. Just let the hours, days
weeks, months, even years, just fall away. Drifting back now to a time, place,
situation or event when you were really bored with what you were doing. I want
you to go back to a time, place, situation or event in which you were really
bored with what you were doing. And as you do this I'd like you to actually
recapture and re-experience the feeling of boredom just as strongly as you can.
Recapture the feeling of boredom as strongly as you can.

Now then, I'd like you to hold on to that feeling of boredom but replace the
event that originally bored you with the act of eating. Replace the event that
originally bored you with the act of eating. And as you do this you find that
your subconscious mind is helping you to automatically associate feelings of
tedium and boredom with food and eating.

Now then, I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself seated at a table piled
high with all the fattening foods that would normally be very appealing to you.
These are all the foods that would normally be very appealing and very, very
difficult to resist. And as you begin to eat you find that your interest in eating
these foods wanes very quickly. After just a few bites you find that you're
getting tired of eating and you want to do something else besides eat. You're
really enjoying those first few bites, but apathy toward food and .eating sets in
quickly after those first few enjoyable bites and you find yourself beginning to
feel very indifferent toward food and eating. But you're feeling good about your
lack of concern for food and eating. You feel thrilled about your feelings of
monotony and dullness related to eating, especially overeating.

From this day forward, when it comes to food you feel detached and indifferent.
After you've eaten a small amount you're anxious to get up from the table. You
want to resume or get started on some other activity that's more interesting to
you. This activity can be anything that you find interesting and exciting:
reading, hobbies, conversation, sports, exercise, watching television, anything
that appeals to you but that does not include food.

Now then, I'd like you to picture and imagine yourself standing on a sparkling,
white sand beach. In one hand you have a pad of paper and in the other you
have a pencil. On that pad I'd like you to write the phrase "Interest in food and

piece of paper, reach over and pick up a bottle with a cork in it. You uncork the
bottle, fold the piece of paper, place it into the bottle, recork the bottle, reach

back and throw that bottle into the ocean. A wave takes it and you watch as it
floats far out to sea., over the horizon, disappearing forever. And with it
disappears any abnormal or inappropriate interest in food and eating.

Still standing on that beach, I'd like you to reach over and with your finger you
write that phrase "Interest in food and eating." In the wet, beach sand. You stand
back and watch as the waves obliterate the phrase. Taking with it any abnormal
or inappropriate interest in food and eating.

From this day forward, you're eating only those foods that are healthful and
nutritious to you ... only in the amounts necessary to attain and then maintain
your ideal weight.

FREEDOM FROM WORRY
...and as you continue to drift on down deeper and deeper to sleep, you're
finding that day by day you're becoming increasingly successful in overcoming
worry. Gradually you find less and less need to worry about future problems
and dangers, many of which are quite imaginary. It's been said that 80% of all
things we worry about never happen, I 5% we can't do anything about, so we
really only have 5% to deal with, which really isn't too awful once you stop and
think about it. You're now becoming increasingly more able to determine the
real dangers about the things you fear, and you now see what the possibilities
are of these actually occurring. Knowing that most of the things you worry
about never happen, you now realize that what you are actually doing is making
yourself miserable for nothing. Day by day you find yourself becoming more
and more successful in overcoming such pointless and self-defeating worry.
You now resolve to live in day tight compartments, looking neither forward nor
backward beyond a 24 hour period. You live today as best you can and by doing
this you will also be doing the most within your power to make tomorrow
better. You are becoming more aware to what is happening now in the present
and you respond only to what is happening now, and not to what has happened
in the past or may happen in the future. And as you occupy yourself with only
one thing at a time you concentrate all your awareness, responsiveness and
energy on the immediate task at hand, in a relaxed and peaceful manner, free of
all nervousness and apprehension. Its been said that half the worry in the world
is caused by people trying to make decisions before they have sufficient
knowledge on which to base a decision. With this in mind, you are also
acquiring confidence in your ability to make decisions wisely. You make these
decisions after considering the consequences of your decision. When you've
made a decision you rest content in the knowledge that you've made a wise
decision then you dismiss it from your mind. You no longer worry about or
second-guess your decisions. You are also becoming flexible in your decisions.
You make each decision in the light of your best present knowledge and you're
content with that decision when you make it. If you acquire new knowledge you
have the ability to make a new decision in light of new knowledge. With each
and every passing day you no longer think nearly as mu.ch about yourself. You
no longer dwell nearly so much upon yourself and your difficulties and you
become much less conscious of yourself, much less preoccupied with yourself.
You are now permanently breaking the habit of worry and you're learning in its
place a new habit, that of substituting pleasant, wholesome and positive images.

I'd like you now to choose some one thing or situation that you normally worry
about. You won't hear my voice for several moments as you take the time to do
this. (pause) Now I'd like you to picture and imagine to yourself all the various
negative possible outcomes of this situation or event. Take a few moments to do
this. (pause) Now picture and imagine the worst possible outcome and allow the
appropriate physical and emotional feelings to manifest themselves. Go ahead,
feel hunt be afraid be angry. Take a few moments to do this, (pause) Notice how
that this is how fear and anxiety develop. Now I'd like you to take that same
situation and picture and imagine all the various possible outcomes of the
situation or event. Take a few moments now to do this, (pause) now picture and
imagine the best possible outcome and allow the appropriate physical and
emotional feelings to manifest themselves. Go ahead, be happy, be joyful, be
proud, whatever would be appropriate. Take a few moments now . (pause)

Now notice how good this makes you feel. It makes you feel exuberant. And so
from now on and every time you find yourself in a situation that formerly
eIicited worry you now respond instead by first choosing and imagining all the
possible positive outcomes and then you concentrate on the best possible
outcome both physical and emotionaI. You can do this by first closing your eyes
taking a deep breath and as you exhale just picture and imagine yourself as calm
peaceful and relaxed as you are now. Then proceed with your positive guided
mental imagery. Each and every day. in every conceivable way you are
breaking yourself of the worry habit and are responding in all situations with
calmness, confidence and positiveness. You no longer me a slave to needless
self-destruction and self-defeating worry. You refuse to allow yourself to be
limited by the worry habit. You are now developing instead a positive mental
attitude. All of these suggestions are planted.
