Graphene Oxide Reinforced Concrete

Monash researchers have developed a novel method for reinforcing concrete using graphene oxide (GO). By adding just 0.05% GO to ordinary Portland cement, they were able to improve the flexural strength by 41-59% and compressive strength by 15-33%. The addition of GO also improves ductility and reduces sudden failure. GO makes the cement matrix denser, improving pore structure and decreasing porosity for increased strength and durability.
