Power Electronics, Uncontrolled Rectifier.

The document is a lecture on uncontrolled rectifiers from a Power Electronics course. It contains 3 main points: 1) It introduces uncontrolled or phase-controlled rectifiers, including their applications in power systems and typical efficiency above 95%. 2) It covers various single phase uncontrolled rectifier circuits including half wave and full wave configurations with resistive and inductive loads. Calculation of output voltage and current ripple are demonstrated. 3) It discusses multiphase uncontrolled rectifiers including 3 phase star and bridge configurations. The operation and output voltage calculation of a 3 phase bridge rectifier is shown.

 Phase controlled rectifiers are simple and less expensive
 Efficiency of these rectifiers are, in general, above 95%
 These controlled rectifiers are also called ac-dc
converters
 These are extensively used in industrial applications,
specially in variable-speed drives, ranging from fractional
horse power to mega power level
