TI-84 Step-byStep Guide

To Find Measures of Central Tendency

1. Press S T. The word EDIT should be highlighted. Press e.

2. To clear your list

a. ↑ arrow to highlight L1

b. Press CLEAR (Do NOT

hit d for delete)

c. ↓ arrow

3. Type data into L1

4. To find the MODE, press S, ↓ arrow to 2:SortA and e

Next press 2nd L1 to tell the calculator to sort L1(number 1 key) in order. e

Go back to S , and then press e. Your data is now in order making it easier
to spot the mode.

5. To find the MEAN and the MEDIAN, from L1 press S → arrow to CALC

Press e to choose 1: 1 – Vars Stat


and e again to get requested data

x = mean, it is listed first, ↓ arrow to view Med (median)
