Exercise 8 Flow Improvement
Exercise 8 Flow Improvement
Flow Improvement
A multiphase 12” flowline has recently been brought on stream and carries crude oil from 5
wells through a manifold to the main processing plant which is over 25 km distant. The 12”
flowline is designed to handle up to 10000 bpd liquids.
Question: How could you ensure there are no capacity issues during the first 5 years?
Additional Questions
Q1: Why do we add drag reducer downstream of a pump/valve rather than upstream?
The operator will have the option to bring two additional wells on stream in the same area in Y4-
Y5. The additional wells are predicted to run at a total of 2000 - 4000 bopd oil and minimum
water for about 2 years and then with increasing water cut thereafter
Q2: What other options should the operator explore to ensure optimum production of oil?
