read for enjoyment and develop general reading skills; identify the
main ideas;
comprehend the text/reading material;
learn vocabulary as adjectives and
use adjectives based on context

Structure: Grammar: Adjectives


Identifying adjectives or describing words in sentences.

Target The First Day of School:


Vocab: nervous, strange, ready, cheerful, unfriendly, naughty, tired, sad,
beautiful, happy, hopeful
Sports Day:
favourite, warm, sunny, great, cooler, hot, big, wonderful

Lesson Overview:

I. Introduction, greetings and reminder for classroom courtesy or rules


Warm-up II. Presentation of the song, “First Day in School,” of which, the students
Maintenance
watch the video and if they know the song they can also sing along

I. Introduction of the lesson about extensive reading and why it is important


II. Before presenting the reading text, unlocking of difficulties is done thru an
activity: act out or show thru facial expression the words/target vocabulary
III. Reading of the texts found on pages 116 and 117 of their Class Book.
IV. Answer the activities found after each reading texts.
New Learning
and Practice V. Discuss the texts thru giving comprehension questions.
VI. Discuss Grammar lesson by going back to the target words and define
Adjectives.
VII. Present the Grammar writing activity either thru printed copy which they
can answer individually or thru a projector which they can answer as a class.
