OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE


In general the course objectives are:

i) Demonstrate a breadth and depth of knowledge in the discipline of


computer science.
ii) Demonstrate the ability to produce a technical document.
iii) Demonstrate the ability to give an effective presentation using visual aids
and/or software demonstrations.
iv) Graduates able to analyze the local and global impact of computing on
individuals, organizations and society.
v) Demonstrate current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing
practice.
vi) Demonstrate mathematical foundations, arithmetical principles, and
computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer-based
systems
vii) Graduates will have an aptitude and desire to engage in lifelong learning,
and will adapt to new technologies tools and methodologies of computer
sciences.
viii) Demonstrate design and implement systems involving hardware, software,
and the interaction between the two through challenging projects.
ix) Demonstrate proficiency in at least two high-level programming languages
and two operating systems

LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Graduates will have the ability to evaluate, verify, trouble-shoot, test and analyze an
existing computer-based system, process, component or program.
2. Student will design and write computer programs that are correct, efficient, and well
documented.
3. Students will design solutions utilizing computer systems. This will include defining
the problem clearly, specifying a design, as well as testing, and documenting the
solution.
4. Students will assess the hardware and software aspects of computer systems as well as
the application of software development.
5. Students will analyze and discuss the professional, legal, security, and social issues and
responsibilities with computing systems.

TEACHING METHOD
The course will run for 16 weeks and comprises of 3 lecture of one hour each 3 days a
week.

ASSESSMENT MECHANISM

Assessment and evaluation of students will be according to the “Assessment and


Evaluation Regulations” of University of Education Lahore.
Course grade are based on following components and weightings (Out of 100)

Mid Term Exams 20%


Home work /Assignment/quiz/class participation / attendance 20%
Final Term Exam (45+15)%
