Course objectives:
To understand the concept of dynamic model of synchronous machine.
To study the multi-machine simulation of dynamic models.
To understand the concepts of the small signal stability.
To investigate the physical and mathematical aspect of energy function methods.

Dynamic Model of synchronous machine: Concept of synchronously rotating reference
frame, two axis model, Elimination of stator/network transients, one axis model (flux-
decay model), steady state equivalent from dynamic model, electromagnetic and damping
torque, accounting the effect of main flux and cross flux saturation, Frequency during
transients.
Course outcome:
The understanding of dynamic model of synchronous machine will be developed.
Simulation study of multi-machine dynamic model will be delivered.
The concepts of small signal stability will be understood.
