Procurement of Work Up To Rs. 50 Million From Regional Contractors

The National Construction Association of Sri Lanka supports the government's circular limiting bids for construction contracts valued up to Rs. 50 million to regional contractors only. This policy will help develop regional contractors, especially in the Northern Province, which suffered for 30 years without construction activities due to the civil war. Limiting bids regionally will boost local contractor capacities and create more jobs in the province as its construction sector grows.

Procurement of Work up to Rs. 50 Million from Regional contractors.

With considering all our contractors request, The Government had Decided
to limit the invitation of bids for construction contract with a value up to Rs
50 Million within regional contractors under circular No 04/2016 effect from
01-04-2016.

It is very good idea to develop the regional contractors as mentioned in the


circular, particularly, for Northern Province, we suffered last 30 years
without any construction activities. Now only construction activities are
booming. So, this circular will help to our contractors to develop their
capacities and create more employment opportunities in the province.
