RESUME FILM “DEEPWATER HORIZON”

This film is a story of oil drilling off the coast of Louisiana in 2010. The result is making
oil spills on the sea off the Gulf of Mexico. This is the worst oil spill in American and World
history.

The Deepwater Horizon is an oil drilling rig - is an equipment installation to drill into an
underground reservoir to obtain water, oil or natural gas, or underground mineral deposits.
Drilling rigs can be on land (on shore) or on the sea / off shore depending on their use
requirements - which are owned by the Transocean company.

In mid-2010, the Deepwater Horizon was leased by BP (British Petrolium) which


obtained a concession to drill oil off the coast of Louisiana. Which is more precisely in the Gulf
of Mexico. Mike Williams (Mark Walhberg) is one of the supervisors working on the Deepwater
Horizon. so did his boss Jimmy Harrel (Kurt Russell), as well as several other colleagues. In
April 2010, Deepwater Horizon, which searched the exact location for drilling oil, had passed 40
days from the specified deadline. For British Petrolium this is a big loss. Because of that, the
party from Britih Petrolium wants the soonest Deepwater Horizon to drill the right target.

The procedure-compliant Jimmy Harrell had sniffed some irregularities in the oil drilling
process. However, the British Petrolium insisted on passing several tests because they had passed
the deadline and did not want to spend more money. So when one of the drilling processes was
carried out, the disaster occurred. When the load of pressure that the Deepwater Horizon was
unable to accept became turned to attack the oil drilling rig. Instead of successfully gaining oil,
hundreds of lives on the Deepwater Horizon were trapped and fought with death. Both Mike
Williams and Jimmy Harrell tried their best to save all the men so they could get out of the
Deepwater Horizon which had become a time bomb.

The story of the failure of oil drilling which spilled millions of barrels of oil in the Gulf
of Mexico in April 2010 is indeed becoming big news throughout the world. The oil spill in the
Gulf of Mexico was the worst in the history of the United States.
