DP-Hardning: Boot Up DP Failure handling

Description

Symptom:
A wireless LAN controller, after powering up, may be in a continuous reboot loop. The WLC console shows
Customer Visible
messages similar to the following:

broffu broffu_fp_helpers.c:398 SIOCGIFINDEX failed

Task Name: fp_main_task
User Crash: The system has encountered a fatal condition at broffu_fp_helpers.c:542

(at which point the WLC reboots, then encounters the "could not bring data plane 0 up" error again.)

Conditions:
WLC initial bootup. This problem may be seen especially with heavy traffic on the WLC's DS ports.
Seen with all WLC models.

Workaround:
It may help to disconnect the DS ports (shutdown the switchports to the WLC.)
