Finite Element Methods and Domain Decomposition

This document provides information about the "Finite Element Methods and Domain Decomposition" postgraduate course offered at the University of Bergen. The 10 ECTS credit course will be taught in the autumn semester and cover formulating boundary value problems, discretizing using finite element methods, developing MATLAB programs, and applying domain decomposition techniques. Students will learn to formulate elliptic equations, discretize using Galerkin approximation, prove convergence of finite element methods, and use multigrid and domain decomposition methods. Assessment will be via a written exam, which may become an oral exam if fewer than 20 students enroll.
