o Motivating Strategy
The teacher give a greeting to the student
Teacher : Good morning, class. How are you today?
Student : I’m fine thank, you.
Teacher call the student’s name
The teacher asking to the students
Teacher : Have you ever felt in hard situation? Such as you can’t do something by
yourself.
Student : Yes, I have.
Teacher : What did you do?
Student : I’m annoyed.
Teacher : The others?
Student : I’ll ask someone to help me.
Teacher : How did you do?
Student : I asked them politely.
Teacher : Tell me how it be.
Student : Could you help me?
Teacher : Nice. If you are in hard situation or may be you really people help you
should ask someone to help you using polite request.
o Presentation
- Teacher telling the objective of the lesson today.
Teacher : Class, we are going to learn about “Asking Polite Request”. Asking
polite request is the situation that you asking someone help or getting
their permission to do something. Our objective for learning this lesson
in order to you can express polite request when you need someone help
you or getting their permission to do something.For the example, when
you were forget to bring your pen, you need to ask your pens’ friend, is
it right so you can imply it in this situation by using this expression :
Could you borrrow me your pen? I forget to bring it. Polite request is
followed by modal verb that what your friend have told us the verb is
‘could’. Other modal verb are may, will, would, can and could.
- Teacher telling formal and informal using asking polite request
Teacher : In, polite request case, you can asking permission (asking for something)
or making a request (asking to do something) . Asking permission
mean that “you” want to do something or you need someone give
something to you and you need to get people permission whereas
making a request mean that youn want “people’ to do something for
you. Asking polite request is divided into two situation, they are formal
and informal. Do you know what’s the differences between them?
Student : We don’t know.
Teacher : Okay, the differences is formal is more polite than informal. You can use
formal form in order to make it more polite, when you talk to the older
people whereas formal form, you can use it in casual conversation or
when you with your friend.
Teacher : There’re step to express “asking polite request”
1. The first one is, you write the modal auxiliary verb. For the
example you need your friend’s help to accompany you to go to
library. But you should take attention which one you want use
formal or informal situation. If you want to use formal express it
you can use “would, could, or would you mind. If you want to use
would you mind in asking to do something, you can use this pattern
: would you mind + gerund (Ving).
2. The second one, you should need the pattern in introgative because
in this case we use introgative so, after modal auxiliary you use
“you” to call the person that you need a help
3. The third, you tell your aim . For the example “go to the library”
4. You can add “please” in the end of sentence”
This is two case formal and informal form :
1. Asking Permission
- Formal :
 Could I borrow your laptop to do assignment?
 May I turn on the television?
 Would you mind if I borrowed your pen, please?
- Informal :
 Can I have the salt?
2. Asking to Do Something
- Formal :
 Would you accompany me to go to the library?
 Would you mind collecting my assginment?
 Do you think you could help me to do this assignment?
- Informal:
 Will you open the window?
 Can you turn of the music, please?
The teacher telling to the student the response of asking polite request and
write in on the whiteboard .
Teacher :Not only you can asking someone’s permission or asking someone to
do something, but it can happen to you, also. when someone ask you, you can
answer the respon in two possible they are positive and negative response.
Positive it means thay you want do it, whereas negative, you won’t.
1. Positive Response :
 Okay
 Sure
 Yes, certainly!
 Yes, of course!
 My pleasure
 Certainly
 I’d be glad / happy to ...
2. Negative Response :
 No
 Sorry
 I’d like to, but I can’t.
 I’m sorry, I can’t.
 I’d love to, but I’m busy right now.
 Not now, I’m using it sorry
After teacher write the material on the whiteboard, teacher ask student to
pronounce the expression by repeated after the teacher.
Teacher : Now, repeat after me Could I borrow your laptop to do assignment?
Student : Could I borrow your laptop to do assignment?
It continue till all the expression are pronounced

Teacher asking student to be somebody else
Teacher : Now, you work together with friend beside you, only two person in a
group. You are pretend to be others whatever the name it’s base on
your creation and then you make a conversation base on this situation :
1. You don’t have any money, but you want to go homeso you tell
your friend to borrow his/ her money.
2. The weather is so hot, so you ask your sister or brother to turn of Air
conditioner or fan or open the window.
Teacher drilling the students and call the student’s name base on the date of
today or base on the year to be the first one who practice.

Teaacher : After this lesson you can imply the expression when you want
someone’s permission and when you need a help also the response
both of them. What type of the response?
Student : Two response. Positive and negative

The teacher give some situation to be student’s assesment at that time.
