RF Interview Question

The document discusses resolving signal quality problems caused by improper parameter settings through various methods: 1) Optimizing frequencies by changing and optimizing frequencies based on drive test and performance measurement data. 2) Adjusting the antenna system by adjusting antenna azimuths and tilts to change the signal distribution in interfered areas. 3) Adding dominant coverage by increasing the power of a cell and decreasing power of other cells to form a dominant cell. Power adjustment and antenna system adjustment can be used together.

Resolving Signal Quality Problems Caused by Improper Parameter Settings

Optimizing frequencies:-

Change and optimize frequencies based on drive test and performance measurement data.

Adjusting the antenna system:-

Adjust antenna azimuths and tilts to change the distribution of signals in an interfered area by
increasing the level of a dominant sector and decreasing levels of other sectors.

Adding dominant coverage :-

Increase power of a cell and decrease power of other cells to form a dominant cell.

adjusting power

Decrease RS power to reduce coverage if the antenna pattern is distorted because of a large
antenna tilt.

Power adjustment and antenna system adjustment can be used together.

E-UTRAN COUNTER TYPES

The counter types supported by the E-UTRAN are listed below:

 Peg counter (PEG)

 Gauge (GAUGE)
 Accumulator counter (ACC)
 Scan counter (SCAN)
 Probability Density Function (PDF)
 PEG COUNTER
 A Peg counter is a counter that is increased by 1 at each occurrence of a specific activity.
 GAUGE COUNTER
 A Gauge counter is a counter that can be increased or decreased depending on the activity
in the system.
 ACCUMULATOR AND SCAN COUNTERS
 An Accumulator counter is increased by the value of a sample. It indicates the total sum
of all sample values taken during a certain time.
 A Scan counter is a counter that is increased by 1 each time the corresponding
Accumulator counter is increased. It indicates how many samples have been read, and
added to the related Accumulator counter.
 PROBABILITY DENSITY FUNCTION (PDF)
 A Probability Density Function (PDF) counter is a list of range values. A value is read
periodically. If the value falls within a certain range, the range counter for that range is
increased. All range counter values are collected and stored in a ROP file at the end of
each reporting period.
