Sampling Distribution (Assignment 2)

The document provides examples and questions about sampling distributions of means for samples of size 2 and 3 drawn from given populations both with and without replacement. For samples of size 2, it gives examples calculating the mean and variance of samples and populations. For samples of size 3, it asks the reader to find sampling distributions, means, standard deviations, and standard errors. It demonstrates that the mean of the sampling distribution equals the population mean and the standard error equals the population standard deviation divided by the sample size.

Ans : μ=6 , σ2=8

2. Assume that a population consists of 7 similar containers having the following

weights (kilograms) :
9.8 , 10.2 , 10.4 , 9.8 , 10.0 , 10.2 , and 9.6

b) Calculate the mean and the standard deviation of X ,and verify that

Ans : μ=6 , σ2 = 18
μX=6 , σX=1.732 ,Verification of result

4. A finite population consists of the numbers 2, 4 and 6
