Read What Each of The Children Thinks About Why We Get Day and Night. Do You Agree With Anyone? Why Do You Think We Get Day and Night?

Three children provide their explanations for why we experience day and night: Joanne believes the sun revolves around the earth and causes night when it's on the opposite side; Jason correctly explains that the earth revolves around the sun and it's night when that location faces away from the sun; Matthew incorrectly thinks the moon covers up the sun to create night.

Read what each of the children thinks about why

we get day and night. Do you agree with

anyone? Why do you think we get day and night?

Joanne:
“I think the Sun goes
around the Earth. When
it’s at the other side it’s
dark – night.”

Jason:
“No, the Earth goes around
the Sun every 24 hours.
When your side of the
Earth faces away from the
Sun, it’s night.”

Matthew:
“You’re both wrong.
It’s the Moon that
covers the Sun up.”
