Installing IBM iSeries ODBC Drivers

The following instructions will tell you how to install and set up the IBM iSeries ODBC
drivers necessary to query the Phoenix system using Microsoft® Access® and Excel®.

Installation
To install the drivers:

1. From the Windows start menu, click Run.


2. Type in:
\\bear1\apps\iSeries Access Install Image\setup.exe
The Welcome dialog box appears.

3. Click the Next button.


The iSeries Access for Windows License Information dialog box appears.
4. Click the Yes button to begin installing.
The Type of Installation dialog box appears.
5. Click the button to select Custom installation.

6. Click the Next button.


The Select Destination Directory dialog box appears.
7. Click the Next button.
The Component Selection dialog box appears.

8. Click to uncheck all marks except the following:
Required Programs, Data Access, ODBC, OLE DB Provider (these should
still be checked).
9. Click the Next button.
The Specify Programs Menu Shortcut dialog box appears.
10. Click the Next button.
The Start Copying Files dialog box appears.
11. Click the Next button.
The Install Completed dialog box appears.

12. Click to uncheck all the boxes, then click the Next button.
The Setup Completed button appears.
13. Click the Finish button.
Your computer will restart.

Setup
To setup the drivers:

1. From the Windows start menu, Click Control Panel.


2. Double-click Administrative Tools, then double-click Data Sources (ODBC)
The ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog box appears.

3. Click the System DSN tab.

4. Click the Add button.


The Create New Data Source dialog box appears.

5. Click to select iSeries Access ODBC Driver, then click the Finish button.
The iSeries Access for Windows ODBC Setup dialog box appears.

6. In the Data source name field, type in:


Phoenix
7. From the System drop-down menu, click to select
PHOENIX.MISSOURISTATE.EDU.
8. Select the Server tab.

9. In the SQL default library and Library list fields, type in:
datacoll
10. Click the Advanced button.
The Advanced server options dialog box appears.

11. From the Date Format drop-down menu, click to select mm/dd/yy (*USA), then
click the OK button.
12. Select the Packages tab. In the Package usage box, check to make sure Use is
selected.

13. Click the OK button.


The ODBC driver setup is complete.
