Tree topology combines characteristics of star and bus topologies by connecting multiple star networks to a linear backbone cable. This allows networks to be expanded while meeting individual school needs. Logically, it is a star-bus topology where central nodes of stars are connected. Physically, it uses point-to-point wiring for segments. Advantages include point-to-point wiring and vendor support, while disadvantages are limited segment length, loss of entire segment if backbone breaks, and more difficult configuration than other topologies.

Assignment in TLE
1. What is TREE TOPOLOGY?
 tree topology combines characteristics of linear bus and star topologies. It consists of groups of star-
configured workstations connected to a linear bus backbone cable (See fig. 3). Tree topologies allow for
the expansion of an existing network, and enable schools to configure a network to meet their needs.

2. Physical and Logical topology of TREE.

 Logical
- In computer networks, a tree topology is also known as a star bus topology. It incorporates elements
of both a bus topology and a star topology. Below is an example network diagram of a tree topology,
in which the central nodes of two-star networks are connected to one another. In the picture above, if
the main cable or trunk between each of the two-star topology networks were to fail, those networks
would be unable to communicate with each other. However, computers on the same star topology
would still be able to communicate.

 Physical

3. Give the ff:

 Advantages
- Point-to-point wiring for individual segments.
- Supported by several hardware and software venders.

 Disadvantages
- Overall length of each segment is limited by the type of cabling used.
- If the backbone line breaks, the entire segment goes down.
- More difficult to configure and wire than other topologies.
