IEEE 9 Experiment PDF

This document provides instructions for an experiment in a power systems lab to design and simulate the IEEE 9 Bus power system in Matlab Simulink. Students are asked to build the system using standard blocks and data sheets, and plot the bus voltages, currents, and active and reactive power at the generator and load buses to analyze the system performance.

BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY PATNA

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS

POWER SYSTEM 1 LAB (EE7204)

Experiment : To design IEEE 9 Bus system in Matlab SIMULINK using standard data
sheet and plot the waveforms.

Description: The IEEE 9 Bus system is the most basic standard system in which various power
system based analysis is possible. This system has standard datasheet i.e. rating and parameter
details of every generators, transformers, transmission lines, and loads. You need to build this
system in SIMULINK using various simpower system blocks and see the waveforms in scope.

System Diagram:

PROCEDURE:-

1. Use “Three-Phase Source” as generator, “Three-Phase Transformer (Two Windings)” as

transformer, “Three-Phase PI Section Line” as transmission line, and RL load.
2. Connect all blocks as per figure and datasheet.
3. In Scope1 plot all Bus voltages
4. In Scope2 Plot all bus current
5. In Scope 3 Plot Active and reactive power of all three generator Bus (1,2,3) and all three
load connected bus (5,6,8)
