How Inclusive is Your

Classroom?
Teacher Mindset
I believe SWIN can learn what I teach I talk to my SWIN proportionately to all my students
I want to see SWIN in my class each day I believe SWIN are entitled to a "more than minimum"
I believe SWIN have something to contribute to my classroom education
I believe I am capable of teaching SWIN I understand ableism as a system of oppression and
I believe SWIN should be included as much as possible consciously work to subvert it
I think of my SWIN as "my" students, not somebody else's I keep up with educational law as it pertains to my SWIN,
students their families, and all students/families

Classroom Environment
The whole classroom is labeled with words and Students work areas are free of clutter
pictures/symbols Flexible seating is available for all students
VCOP supports are in an accessible location for all students Options are available to meet student sensory needs
The classroom is well-lit with options for softer lighting Left-handed resources are available
SWIN are mixed in with all students
The classroom is a comfortable temperature Classroom rules are displayed with visuals

Instruction
Daily agenda is all day with words and visuals Visual timers are utilized for classroom tasks
Goal & why are displayed with words and visuals Tasks are modeled by teacher and students before
All students have access to the same materials in class working independently
Microphone is available and utilized by both teachers and Important vocabulary is taught in advance using visuals
