SSC CGL 2018 Exam Pattern - Overview

SSC CGL consists of 4 stages as shown below. If you clear the Tier I cut off, then only you will
be eligible to sit for SSC CGL Tier II exam. The final merit list is prepared by adding marks of
the tiers. Therefore, you should aim for higher score. However, don't neglect the negative
marking in the exam.

The SSC CGL Tier IV Exam consists of Data Entry skill & Computer Proficiency Test. The
exam is qualifying in nature. The SSC CGL Tier IV stage is only for selected posts like TA (Tax
Assistant), CSS, MEA, and inspector.

⇒ SSC CGL Tier 4 Exam Pattern

The exam is qualifying in nature. You have to complete the following tasks:

• Word Processing Test on MS Word: 2000 Key Depressions


• Test in Microsoft Excel or Spreadsheets: 15 minutes
• Test in Microsoft PowerPoint: 15 Minutes

1. DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): If you have applied for the post of Tax assistant (Cen-
tral Excise and income Tax), then you will have to give DEST examination. This will
test your typing speed. You will be given an English article and you have to type 2000
words in 15 minutes.
2. CPT (Computer Proficiency Test): The exam tests your proficiency in Work processing,
spread Sheets and generation of slides for the post of CSS, MEA, Inspector (Central Ex-
cise), Inspector (Preventive Officer), Inspector (Examiner).
