A. Constant Weighing of Empty Crucible Crucible 1 Crucible 2
This document describes the process and results of a gravimetric analysis to determine the percentage of SO3 in an unknown soluble sulfate sample. The analysis involved weighing crucibles empty and after addition of the sulfate sample, BaCl2 solution, and barium sulfate precipitate. Constant weights were obtained after multiple heatings. Calculations using the weights determined the percentage of SO3 was 43.68% on average for the two trials, with a relative standard deviation of 3.367%.
