Why y Bus Is More Prefer in Calculation For Load Flow Problems?

Y bus is preferred over Z bus for load flow calculations because admittance is additive in parallel and most power system loads are connected in parallel, simplifying calculations. Admittance matrices (Y bus) are used in load flow analysis to calculate real and reactive power, voltage magnitude, and phase angle at each bus. Impedance matrices (Z bus) are used in fault analysis to calculate fault currents.

Why y bus is more prefer in calculation for load flow problems?

Z denotes impedance and its reciprocal is admittance and denoted by Y. Z adds in series but not
in parallel. On the other hand, Y is additive is parallel and we know that in power systems mostly
loads are connected in parallel, that's why power system calculation are done in admittance
matrix form Y rather than Z because it helps to simplify calculations. Once you have calculated
Y, take inverse it you will find Z matrix.
What are the uses of Y bus n Z bus?
Y bus is bus admittance matrix which is used (generally) in Load flow analysis. This matrix
helps in finding values of P, Q, |V| & delta. The elements of matrix are the admittances of
transmission lines between buses.

Z bus is bus impedance matrix which is used in Fault analysis. This matrix helps in finding the
values of fault current. The elements of matrix are the impedances of transmission line
connected between two buses.
