Executive Summary:
We are working with three different companies. Among them two are knitting companies. They
are Chittagong Fashion LTD and Rose Garden Apparels Ltd. These companies produce garments
products. VLCC Health Care is a light cosmetics company. There are more than 1000 workers
in Chittagong Fashion LTD and Rose Garden Apparels Ltd, and 25 to 99 workers in Rose
Garden Apparels Ltd. These company’s main aim is to produce good quality product to satisfy
their customers. Through this report we discuss about the implementation status of “Lean
Manufacturing” in different types of industries of Bangladesh. For the survey we have visited
two garments factories, one cosmetic industry and collected our data from there. By collecting
this data we have done a data analysis where we calculated average values and percentages of the
main questions. We gave a description about the percentage of the respondent who are familiar
or unfamiliar with each of the lean elements. We also included a description of the percentages
of our surveyed factories who already implemented lean tools and the percentages of factories
not planned to implement lean systems. We also provided a conclusion regarding this report.
Introduction

Here is the introduction of all the garments which we have visited.

ROSE GARDEN APPARELS LTD. is directed by Jubaer Hossain Asif. We visited this factory by
Jubaer Hossain Asif. His positioning is Director, Managing director (Sales & Marketing). Jubaer
Hossain Asif is not also an employee he is an owner of this company. He introduced with the
MD of the industry and he gave overall idea of this factory. It is a Knitting production garment.
Approximately it has 25 to 1000 factory workers and employees currently working in this
garment.

It situated at Nayamati Road, Kutubpur,Opposite Fatullah Stadium, Fattullah,


Narayanganj,Dhaka,Bangladesh. They are familiar with all the lean practices Lean thinking, Lean
Manufacturing and Just in Time but they are not familiar with Toyota Production System (TPS).
They are familiar and already implemented lean tools and techniques.

Background of the Survey
By doing this survey we can analyze or investigate the awareness and implementation efforts of
lean manufacturing system in the business. We can know so many terms of every FACTORY as
like lean practices, potential for productivity improvement in the different industry sector in
Bangladesh. We can know about the whole system of companies. How it works, how they face
their buyers, how they manage all problems, how they maintain their workers, how they affect
on our economy.

In this survey we have a great experience to have a huge knowledge on different types of
industry sector of Bangladesh. We think that it will help us on our future. On this survey we
found that they don’t know about some of the terms which are included in the questionnaire,
but actually they use those terms as their own system.

According to our survey, Lean Management, Lean Production, Just in time and Toyota
syestem are all familiar to only Chittagong Fashion Ltd .Vlcc Health care is known or
familiar to lean production and just in system and the another organization Rose garden
apparels ltd known three system without Toyota system .

Here we can see that lean management 67% familiar and 33 % is not familiar ,lean production 100%
familiar and 0% is not familiar ,just is time is 67% familiar and 33 % is not familiar and toyota production
is 67 % not familiar and 33 % is familiar in based of our survey .
Value stream mapping (VSM): According to our survey,value stream mapping is having
44% for chittagon fashon house , and .14 % for the rose garden and 29% for the vlcc health
care .
