MANUAL ON HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK IN


READY-MIXED CONCRETE PLANTS

UNION MEETING- MORE TRAINING AND PREVENTION

Within the national programme on health and safety training for delegates, we have
presented a manual on health and safety at work in ready-mixed concrete plants at
UOCRA headquarters.
The content of this manual is the result of team work carried out together with UOCRA
sections and Delegates from mixed-ready concrete plants located in the different
districts of our country. We made technical visits in these plants, which allowed us to
reveal and know the job processes and positions including the conditions of each of
them.
The opening of the meeting was held by UOCRA Organization Secretary who
highlighted the importance of union work at plants and the strengthening of labour
rights. Afterwards, as part of the UOCRA Department on Health and Safety at work
meeting, the presentation of the summary and contents of the manual were carried
out, as well as the different work risks which are run in the elaboration process were
described seeking to propose protection measures and prevention which we
recommend to be applied, focusing on the health care of workers. More than 65
UOCRA delegates from the City of Buenos Aires and Geater Buenos Aires took part in
the meeting.
The closing of the meeting was held by our General Secretary Gerardo Martínez who
highlighted the strategic importance of this specific branch of the building industry and
its high impact on the activity. Also, he highlighted the union work of our organization
and the importance of the training in health and safety for the delegate team to
improve work conditions.
Finally, Martínez invited the present delegates to keep demanding and working on
decent working conditions and on the rights of building workers.
At the Argentine Building Workers Union (UOCRA), we believe and stand for the concept of
decent work as a valid tool to improve the quality of life of building workers and their families.
