With warm greetings Course Coordinator started the 1 st Course Instructor meeting for the Course
MEC312 INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES. Detailed discussion held with the following

Following are the Course outcome for MEC 312 – INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES

CO1: Distinguish various components of IC engines and analyzing the key


factors influencing engine performance
CO2: Analyze the performance of compression ignition engine using fuel
injection characteristics.
CO3: Identify the sources and types of pollutants in IC engines.
CO4: Elaborate the methods and measurement of emission controls
CO5: Evaluate the suitability of alternate fuels for IC engines and
measurement techniques
Course outcome and program outcome mapping are verified for CO and PO / PSO assessment
process. The CO – PO / PSO mapping for the course content is given below.

 Course coordinator has taken a time to analyze and discuss the results of previous year
MEC312 result in micro analysis in detail.

 The Bench – mark score fixed for CO attainment was 50% arrived from the average mark
of the batch 2017 – 2018. Hence the faculty has decided to fix the bench mark score for
the present batch as 50%. It has been discussed and approved by Department Program
Advisory Committee.
 It was instructed that the Course teacher should be clear with the course outcome. With
reference to the course outcome; instructor should focus on content delivery, guest
lecture, workshops / conferences, theory with practical components.
 Most of the CO’s are highly correlated with PO / PSO. Therefore to maintain the quality,
the course instructors are requested to organize / support the course through
1. To use lab facilities for easy understanding.
2. Laboratory models / Videos
3. Just – a – minute (JAM) talk on advance topic.
4. Highlight topics beyond the syllabus.
5. At-least one Guest Lecture – expert from reputed Industry.
6. Motivate students to participate in Workshops and Conferences.

 The discussion was made to prepare flipped classes for all the topics and provide the
question bank with answer key students.

 It has decided to prepare question paper for SE-I with 60% from CO1 and 40% from
CO2.

 Guest lecture for MEC402 has planned to be conducted in the month of January.
