EE Splice Define
PIG TAIL - is basically used when you have than just one wire that needs to be connected to a
component or device.
FIXTURE JOINT – when conductors of different sizes are to be spliced, such as fixture wires to a
branch circuit, the fixture joint is used.
AERIAL TAP – this is used as temporary tap usually done in construction sites.
SMALL AERIAL TAP - is used mostly on outside work, or in locations where wires are subjected
to considerate movement.
PLAIN TAP – this is used when the tap wire is under considerable tensile stress circuit.
WESTERN UNION SHORT TIE – this is the most widely used splice or joint in interior wiring
installation to extend the length of wire from one point to another.
WESTERN UNION LONG TIE – this is used extensively for outside wiring to extend the length
of wire from one end to another.
ORDINARY CROSS - this used where two tap conductors need to extend away from the branch
conductor in the opposite direction.
DOUBLE WRAPPED CROSS - is just like an ordinary cross joint but double wrapped with
electrical tape. This used where two tap conductors need to extend away from the branch
conductor in the opposite direction.
STRANDED TAP JOINT – this is used when a frequently stranded wire are tap to a conductor.
