Course Outline

This document outlines the course Engineering Mathematics II at Universiti Malaysia Perlis. The course covers topics including differential equations, Laplace transforms, and Fourier series over 14 weeks. Students will learn to solve first and second order ordinary and partial differential equations. Assessment includes three quizzes, a midterm exam, and a final exam. The goal is for students to be able to solve and analyze differential equations, apply Laplace transforms, and use Fourier series expansions. The course is taught by Dr. Zainab Yahya and uses the textbook "An Introduction to Differential Equations for Engineering Mathematics Students."

Lecture Hours 3 Hours x 14 weeks

Synopsis In this course, students will be exposed to differential equations. Firstly,

number of analytical methods will be introduced to solve the first and
second order ordinary differential equations and also partial differential
equations. The theory of Laplace transforms and it applications to solve
ordinary differential equation will be taught and then Fourier series of
periodic function will be covered in this course

Course At the end of this course the student should be able to:
Outcomes 1. solve differential equations which covered first and second order
ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations (CO1)
2. apply the Laplace transforms method and able to solve and analyze
certain differential equations. (CO2)
3. apply the fundamental understanding of Fourier series and able to
express Fourier series and Fourier series expansions of any given
function. (CO3)
4. analyze certain physical problems and able to relate the problems with
differential equations. (CO4)
