PILOT IN INDIA
Intheoryit isquitesimpletoenterapilottrainingprograminIndia-orevenworldwide.

Youneedtobeminimum18inage.

MusthaveMathsandPhysicsinhighschool(ThisisaDGCArequirement) withatleast 60%passingmarks.

Mustbecapabletoholdclass1medicalcertificatefromaDGCAapprovedaviationdoctor/ institute.

AndyoumustbebackedwithmoneybetweenRs 40to50lacs( about70,000 USD)if yourealywantagoodATPLfromawestEuropeancountry-sayGermany-UKmightbebutmoreexpensive.

It isimportantthat youget anATPlicensealthoughyoucanbecomeanairlinepilot withaCPL- alesserlicensewhichwillonlylet youflyascopilot.

OnlyfewEuropeanandsomeothernationslikeNewZealandorAustraliawouldget youaFrozenATPlicenseinyour200hrstrainingtime. InUSyouwouldhavetofly1500hrstoget anATPlicense.

Duringtrainingyouwouldreceiveabout785hoursofclassroominstructionand100hoursCBT(ComputerBasedTraining)includingrevisions,progresschecks,exercisesandexampreparation

Thetrainingwilltakeabout18- 24months.

Thereisnoupperagelimit assuchbutit isadvisablethat yougetyourpilot licenseby25tomakethemaximumoutof yourcareerasanairlinepilot.

I wouldrecommendthat youget yourlicensefromWesternEurope( say-Germanyforexample)toget anedgeonotherapplicantsapplyingforanairlinejobinyourcountry. AnATPlicensewouldget youjoboffersfromfoerignairlineslikeEmirates,Etihadinadditiontoyourownairlines.

Onemorethingyoushouldkeepinmindthat accordingtoyourDGCA,thecivil aviationauthority,thereare4000employedpilots,4000unemployedpilotsand4000QuackpilotsinIndia.Arethemostunemployedpilotsquacks?Thesefiguresarenotknown.

It isagreatcareerforIndiansasAirbusandBoeinghavepredictedthat inthenext 15years, Indianaviationgrowthisimpressiveasyourcountrywouldbuyabout 1500commercialjetsandthat wouldrequireabout15000additionalpilots.India,today,makesjustabout300pilotsinayearwithmostof itsdefunctflyingschools.
