have experienced good times and not so good times. Maybe we didn’t get

the grade that we wanted on that one test, maybe we didn’t perform quite
as well as we would have liked in that game, or maybe we had a fallout
with friends. No matter what things happened to make your days long or
your life stressed, I can guarantee that your dedication towards the
betterment of others was one of your greatest moments. From our library
book drive to the toys collected for Toys for Tots, you stood tall
representing the best in people. Your impact on our community continues
growing. As your friends and family ask about what you are doing in Key
Club, you should stand tall and explain to them the impact that you are
having on your community. Tell them about how serving others makes
your life and the community a better place to live.
Second semester is also a time of growth. We will be looking forward to
the future of Key Club at LCC. We have a wonderful advisor with a
growing club. Key Club not only supports LCC and the surrounding
community. We also support events such as decorating a float for the
Rose Parade, providing beach cleanup opportunities, supporting troops
overseas and at home. More importantly we are teaching people to serve.
They are being exposed to a wealth of opportunities to serve others and
seeing the direct impact they can have on the community.
As we grow, I encourage you to look forward in your path of service. What
is your next step? How are you going to make an impact? What is service
going to look like for you in the next year? Whether you stay here at LCC
or you are going off to college, please think about what you can do to
improve the conditions of people around you and the world at large.
Maybe you would like to run for Key Club office and have your turn in
leading people that want to have an impact. Maybe you will set a
volunteer goal for next year. Maybe you will just encourage a friend to
take this service path with you. Whatever your impact next year will be,
remember that as always… We are Better Together…
SERVING TOGETHER…

Key Club Corner: The Power of
Showing Up
The 73rd annual DCON is occurring April 13th- 15th, 2018. DCON is an event to celebrate the
accomplishments of the district over this 2017-2018 term. This year, DCON will be held at the
Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. If you are interested in joining us at the Service Safari,
please contact your President or Vice President for more details. Payment is due by
February 28, 2018, so we would like to be notified as soon as possible, preferably by
February 17, 2018.
DCON is a meeting of Key Clubbers from across California, Nevada, and Hawaii. It is a
celebration of the success of Key Clubs individually and internationally. It is a time to learn
about the impact that you can have with Key Club and about leadership guided by mentors
with extensive experience with leadership and teens. There will be motivational speakers
and entertainment. The governors ball will feature A.J. Rafael, an American musician. There
will be a vote for all next year’s district officers, as well as the opportunity to celebrate the
spirit of Key Club. DCON will be sure to be the best weekend you have had all year. Come
and celebrate with us….
Because, as always…. We are better together.
