Notes

1) Task constraints include date restrictions that can make tasks start or finish earlier or later, such as as soon as possible, finish no earlier than, etc. 2) Over allocation of resources occurs when work assigned to a resource exceeds their maximum units of time available. 3) Tracking a project involves using a baseline copy of the original plan to measure progress against a status date, and a progress line shows if tasks are ahead or behind schedule.

types
1 as late as posible
2 as soon as posible(default)
3 finish no earlier than
4 finish no later than
5 must finish on…
6 must start on…
7 start no earlier than
8 start no later then…

over allocated resourcce occurs when the work assigned to a resource exceeds his max units

duration, works and units

duration amount of time it takes to finish a task

work amount of effort needed to carry out a task (hrs,days, week)
units is the % of work resource's time assigned to a task (hrs/day,day/week)
this can represent:
a. full time or part time work og a resource
b. multiples of resource
ex. % working time assigned units
100 8hrs/day 8hrs /day
50 8hrs/day 4hrs/day
200 8hrs/day 16hrs/day

formula d=w/u

1 ex. A painting job requires 80 hrs to finish if a painter can works 8 hrs/ day how long can he finish the job
d= ? 10
w= 80
u= 8

2 if he works half day

d= ? 20
w= 80
u= 4

3 if there are 2 painters

d= ? 5
w= 80
u= 16

TASK TYPES
1. Fixed UNITS(DEFAULT) D=W/VF
2. Fixed Duration Df=W/U

3. Fixed Work D=Wf/U

Fixed Cost- a cost that is not associated with resources

Tasked Cost-variable cost(resources)+fixed cost

Custom Fields- used to customize data in the task table

ex. cost 10% contingency net cost

10000 1000 11000

cash flow-is the movement of cash in/out of the project

S-curve-is the graphical representation of cum. Cash flow plotted against time

TRACKING PROJECT

BASE LINE- IS A COPY OF "ORIGINAL PLAN" USED AS REFERENCE TO TRACK PROGRESS OF PROJECT
STATUS DATE- THE DATE WHEN THE PROJECT IS UPDATED
PROGRESS LINE- IS A TOOL THAT SHOWS WHETHER THE TASK IS AHEAD OR BEHIND SCHEDULE
eds his max units
