Dual Language Programme (DLP) in Malaysia

The Dual Language Programme (DLP) is a voluntary government initiative in Malaysia to strengthen English language skills while maintaining proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia. It was introduced in 300 primary and secondary schools in 2016 to enable students to compete globally and increase career opportunities by teaching subjects like science, math, and IT in English. Schools must have adequate resources and support from teachers, parents, and principals to implement the program, and students' Bahasa Malaysia performance must meet or exceed national averages. The DLP aims to provide high quality international education and ensure proficiency in both languages according to Malaysia's education blueprint.
