The document describes the design and operation of a buck-boost converter. The buck-boost converter is a type of DC-DC converter that can produce an output voltage either greater than or less than the input voltage, depending on the duty cycle. It has two operating modes - in mode 1, the switch is on and current flows through the inductor and switch; in mode 2, the switch is off and current from the inductor flows through other components to the load. This converter provides advantages like high output voltage with low voltage across switches, making it useful for applications like self-regulating power supplies and battery systems.

DESIGN AND OPERATION OF BUCK-BOOST

CONVERTER

ABSTRACT:
The proposed Buck-Boost converter is a type of DC-DC Converter. This proposed converter has
an output voltage is either greater than (or) less than the input voltage magnitude. The output
voltage of this converter depends on the duty cycle .This advantages make the converter used in
self regulating power supplies, battery power systems and adaptive control system applications
.This proposed converter gives high output voltage with low voltage across the mosfet switch
.This converter has two different topologies are called buck-boost converter.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE:
The circuit operations can be divided into two modes

Mode 1:

During this mode, the switch s1 is turned ON and the diode D is reverse biased. In this mode, the
input current rises flow through inductor L and switch S1

MODE 2:

During this mode, the switch s1 is off and the current, which was flowing through the
inductor, would flow through L, C, D and load. In this mode the energy stored in the inductor is
transferred to the load and the inductor current falls until the switch s1 is turned on again in the
next cycle
