The document discusses a monostable multivibrator circuit using the LF411 op amp or uA741 op amp. It asks the reader to: 1. Design the circuit to produce a 25 microsecond output pulse triggered by a 10 microsecond input pulse. 2. Investigate how narrow the trigger pulse can be and still trigger the circuit. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 replacing the LF411 with a uA741 op amp. The uA741 produces a slower rise and fall time on the output pulse.

Discussion Problem #13

EE3115 Spring 2006

Not to be turned in

The circuit shown below is a monstable multivibrator. Use Pspice to answer the questions posed
below.

1. Design the circuit for a 25 P microsecond output pulse. Trigger the monostable with a 5v 10
µsec positive pulse applied at the input. Use the LF411 op amp and use Vpulse for the trigger
source. Attach a printout of your output pulse and trigger pulse on the same graph.

2. Investigate how narrow (in time) the trigger pulse can be and still trigger the circuit.

3. Replace the LF411 with an uA741 and repeat steps 1 and 2.

Solutions to Discussion Problem #13

1. Pspice circuit shown below. Values of R1 not critical but should be in the 1kΩ to 100 kΩ
range. Either analyze circuit to determine value of R for a 25 microsecond pulse width or use
trial and error with Pspice.
