MCT and MST Placement Feedback Form Semester 3

Student Name: Jamila School: Asma

MCT: Ms. Liz Date: 29.10.17

Directions: The MCT will use this to formally observe your performance during the Internship, offering
you feedback based on the selected competencies for this semester.

Commitment to the Profession

Demonstrates consistent attendance and punctuality
Accepts and respects school based authority structures, and complete reasonable request from
school MST and leadership
Is prepared and ready for each lesson
Develops relationships across the school
Comments:
100 % Attendance
Attends taboor
Resouces are prepared and ready to use. Jamila made the visuals and resources.

Planning for Learning

Has completed lesson plan for every lesson, printed and available to MST and MCT upon request
Ensures lesson plans have sufficient detail to secure effective delivery
Comments:
Plan presented. Planning is mostly detailed (although say clearly what each group is doing e.g.LA
what are they doing in the worksheet?) and shows the speaking and listening activities clearly,
including pre/while/post. Differentiation is shown on the plan. Can you explain this. Good attempt
but link to the LOs.

Managing Learning
Establishes behaviour expectations with consistent follow up
Comments:
Transition to the carpet was done quickly using a card.
Song to sit in a circle.
Use positive reinforcement to achieve the behaviour you want to see e.g. if children are calling out
or on their knees tell tham you will only coose someone sitting quietly.
You mentioned that you would give stickers if doing the right thing- actively use these to model the
behaviour you want.
Implementing Learning
Presents material which is accurate, meaningful and accessible to support student engagement
and learning
Uses a range of strategies to engage students
Provides clear, accurate & concise explanations
Models tasks to support learning
Encourages student independence through more complex cooperative learning tasks
Comments:
When looking at letters of the alphabet use lowercase rather than uppercase.(visual to circle the
letter) and in later visuals when looking at words beginning with d. Well done for including
culturally relevant dad in his kandora.
Really reinforced the letter sound in haleka through songs and visuals
Make sure your letter formation is correct for both upper and lowercase. Pencil stays on until
letter is finished- also children were writing these is different ways. Do air formation so all children
can participate.
When doing the while-listening activity the audio needed to be louder as it was difficult to hear.
Also it took a little time to check the worksheets so childrenbecame distracted. Think how this
might have been done more quickly e.g. using picture cards for children to hold up when they hear
the word.
Giving instructions to students before they start the activity through a video but you needed to
explain the activity clearly. Students did not know what to do when they got the sticks. Explain and
model the activity using children if necessary. Tell them what you expect-want you want them to
say/do. Are they supposed to show each other the cards?
You have tried very hard to use a variety of activities. Not all children are covering all of the LOs in
the activities that are in the planning e.g one group is just doing the letter formation.not all
children are engaged in speaking (only gap fill group)
The cutting and sticking activity was a reading activity- make sure to match activiites to Los.
Make time for the closing.

Assessment
Uses questioning as an assessment tool, with appropriate follow up
Keeps appropriate assessment data
Comments:

You have put assessment in the plan but focus on one area and assess the children while they are
working on te activities.
Reflection on Practice
Reflects on teaching to anticipate potential problem ad attempts appropriate action
Reflects on aspects of a lesson while teaching and makes changes, as appropriate
Reflects on classroom managements issues and develops a plan of action, as required
Comments:
