Lesson Reflection Science

1) The lesson aimed to teach students to classify, identify, and label features of the natural and built environment. The teacher felt the students understood the lesson and could successfully distinguish between natural and built environments by using examples from their everyday lives. 2) However, the flashcards used to label "Natural" and "built" were difficult for the students to handle. For the next lesson, the teacher plans to use more engaging materials that are easier for the students to interact with. 3) The teacher's goal for the next lesson is to create materials that more creatively engage the students in classifying natural and built environments.

MST Ms. Wendy School AlAsimah School

Class 1D Date Thursday, October 19, 2017

Overall aim and context of the lesson: 1ES3 Classify, identify and label features of the natural and
the built environment.

Choose two aspects from the competency areas to evaluate and discuss (one paragraph
each) according to following:

1. discuss one aspect that you feel you did very well. Try to analyse why you
think it worked well and what hints you would share with other teachers
about the successful strategy/ resource/activity/management style etc.

Positive aspect of the lesson:

I really have fun when I teach the students about the environment because they showed that they understood
what is the aim of the lesson. It was about natural and built environment and I demonstrated familiar things
that are around us and they can see it all day at the school. For example, I explained to them what the built
environment means then I asked them where they can find something that the man make it. Some of them
respond a school and some of them said my home. I demonstrated to them pictures which some are natural
and some are built environment. I asked them what do think about this picture, is it natural or built and why?.
When I asked them , I used flash cards represent the word "Natural" and "built". Overall, I think they can
classify and identify between natural and built environment because I demonstrated the idea and provide the
explanation between them using real examples and translated some unfamiliar words in Arabic.

2. elaborate on the aspect identified by you that requires attention. Discuss

what the problem was, why it occurred and what action you intend to take to
be more successful in the next lesson.

Requires Attention:

My problem was using words flashcard that can't handle easily. I used then when I asked the students to identify
about the pictures (Natural or built environment).

3. outline the personal focus and goal of the next lesson

Personal focus for the next lesson:

I think I will use materials that can use it easily when I teach the students. I would like to make the
materials more creative to engage the students.
