A researcher conducts a survey to find out the perception and satisfaction level of university
students on the newly implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST). The population is from
five well known universities students in Kedah. In the survey, 500 students were selected at
random from this five various universities in Kedah. The students were identified by their
hand phone numbers and students identification numbers. Among the questions asked are
the students ethnicity, age (in years), and their ratings (1 to 5) of the perception and
satisfaction level on the implementation of GST.
a) Identify the population and sample for the above study. (1 mark)
c) What is the most suitable sampling technique that can be used by the researcher? Give
a reason to support your answer.

d) Based on the sampling technique stated in c), determine the number of respondents to
be selected from each of university.

at Company Z for a period of 9.00 am to 9.30 am.
a) Calculate the mean and standard deviation of the calling time (in minutes).

b) Construct a less than ogive for the above data. Hence, using the ogive to estimate the
median of calling time (in minutes). Note: Please perform you answer using graph
paper.

d) The mean and standard deviation of time taken (in minutes) for each caller to a
customer service center at Company Y are 4.5 minutes and 2 minutes respectively.
