Revolution For Development

”Gembong River actually causes many diseases, when people

around that place throws everything away. Like garbage, rubbish, and

everywhere. Because as we know, if river contains much materials, it

means flood maybe easy to come. Not only flood, some people has been

sick because of the dirtiness of the river. Like they use the water of river

to wash, to bath, and many more. But, on the contrary other people their

feces into the water of river. We think that’s all. One of the problems of

Pasuruan. So, are there questions?” After waiting for a moment, just

having one question. That’s the reflection of English class in science class

of SMASA.

We state that the students are passive in presenting their ability of

speaking English. It will give them worth. Because as we think together a

language can be effective and efficient, if it is used as often as possible.

We can imagine if it’s used in some moment. The language can be

improved as well as the own language. Because we know English is not

our language, it means the frequency of using English is less than our own

language or daily language. Like Indonesian and Java, in general language

we admit and welcome that we are less in speaking English. Moreover, the
condition supports not to speak English. Our school is not SBI school. It

means we have no chance as much as international school to use English.

That’s why, this very difficult to make culture speaking English. The

impact of those condition are very clear happen at use. Most of the

student feel difficulty in reading, doing the task, and they have no

encourage enough to speak. Not only the student but also. The most

important people in school that have responsibility and concern about this

case, like teachers except English teachers. They should realize, because

they are leader of the student. So they should give an example speak

English. Sa that they are called one of failure unsure in make culture

English.

Actually we can’t close our eyes that ourselves have important rule

in choosing whether we want speak or smart on it or just flow on the

water, it means we just wait for the material. From above, we can’t judge

only the teacher but we should intrepreet our self whether there are other

alternative we can use or get without teacher. The student can use other

medias that provide English unsure. So they are still much ways to get

what they want. That’s one of why if we don’t want to depend on our

teacher.

Back to our case….. Many problems that appears in surface when

we have English class especially in Science Three SMASA. We can’t said it,

because it’s very shine the eyes. One of case that have been explained

above, it’s the dead of the class. We want concern about it more. The

dead class is a condition when the class is very silent, there is no voice to
speak. There is no ideas come up. But on other hand, the teacher change

other topic or answering his/her own answer. It’s the bad condition is

studying because our knowledge will be difficulty to improve if each

English, class was silent. Whereas we know English is a language that

need to speak.

In this condition I am as writer remember when difficult moment in

searching one, two new vocabs. When I was at course formerly. My

English not only put themselves as a teacher but also the motivator.

That’s necessary in SMASA now. The teacher should burn the spirit of

student. The impact of it is very huge. Remembering, the experience can

imitate an as motivator.

Now the contradictive in SMASA the teachers don’t care enough of

the development of the students. As we discuss the problem between

friends. We conclude that one of problem cause the teacher feel that the

student of SMASA can improve by themselves. It’s really totally wrong on

our eyes. We can take a simple example, when Yohannes Surya, the

professor of physics and teacher in Olympic. He takes some students of

Papua and the fact they are really stupid, but when there is a training and

giving new knowledge by Yohannes. Now, that students are ready fight in

Olympic. From this occurance, we can take a lesson that as long as time

the student study by themselves, it will be difficult to get maximal

achievement without experience of the teacher.

I am as student of SMASA fell very much, how the school can get

many achievement without training and regular program. I still


remembered when there way a competition of english, like debate

competition. When at the time, the participant taken by their capability

and mastering on it. It’s good but only for the searching, for the preparing

is very bad. I can say like that because in the English class, we as a

participant that have to fight and bring the name of SMASA, in out of

school and also fight against weak and strong school, we don’t know how

to have good debate. It’s ironical when we will fight there is no

preparation on it. If there is, it’s only all of sudden a week before the

competition. It’s good but strange thing why the school especially teacher

don’t give an example how to have debate, the rule, and how to win.

As we predict, if there is no well preparation. The result is also

disappointing. Because the first thing we have been used to have debate

because of little information on it. Moreover, the important thing that have

to be lesson and more pay attention. How the school solve the problem

saying that we can’t say it’s not enough information. But the component

on it, like if debate contest there are many condition that we have to have

so that we can be the winner such as ability in speaking, velocity in

thinking in a short time, many vocabs so that fluence our speaking and

many more. That’s the basic thing that needed. But on the contrary school

don’t care about it. Whereas so that a good winner and it can be

responsible. The student should master on debate fully, not a half.

Talking about debate can be reflection. How the system in our

school so… Because if we only fight our competitor that have enough

ability on debate, it’s common we can win and be the winner. But if we
have to fight against strong school and we loss. It’s also usual. But we

must know that we are SMASA who has good tradition on academic

achievement. And after all the school still don’t care about it. Whereas we

have thought that needed very much about extracurricular. So that if

there is competition. The student have been ready without studying in all

of a sudden.

….

We also find out that to get new vocabularies as many as possible in

English class is so difficult. It can be caused by the system of teaching.

The teacher should have to show, the new vocabularies but it will be easy

to memorize. How the way, if we given a chance to speak. We will give an

alternative that can be used to increase our vocabularies.

One of the problems that still have corellation of our utterance

above is lack of creativity of English teacher. We say like that because we

need revolution and we hope, the teacher make new variations. I am sure

that it’s difficult but as a teacher that have experience, I also believe that

they can make new creativity in teaching.

And also how come until now only some students can speak English

and other can’t. we have observed, it caused by less of speaking. As we

said before that our school is not international school but there is other

responsible people on this condition when student lazy using English, they

are English teacher. We say like that because if english teacher is good to
motivate in speaking and always try hard to support so that their all

student can speak english. I am sure that SMASA students can be

compared as same as international school.

But on the contrary, english class is dead class. It means the

students can’t efford to show their ability in speaking. But we hope this

problems don’t continue. The first solution is on the teacher.

The third problem is sometimes, when English class begin, some

students are not ready enough to receive new lesson from the teacher.

Because of this condition, other students that is fully having

concentration will be disturbed. So the teacher who is the leader of the

students should take an act. That control the class. After this, all students

will be easy to get the point of the lesson. Let’s we think how difficult if

the class is noisy, like if one of student come forward to the class to

answer the question. Other students must pay attention not make noise.

And also we concern about the late of the student, after having sport. It

will cause other problems, like lack of campactness. Why we need it, it

can be unity in studying together.

Back to the problems that happen during the class. We think all the

problems should be a lesson for English teacher. How they solve it so that

our school in general will get affectivity and good result from studying

English.
So, for this thesis. We hope that SMASA change especially in English

class. The students will be more active and also teacher who has

important role and handle the central role. The teacher should have care

enough and be motivator so that the students would follow and be fun on

studying English.
