Coxs Bazar is a famous tourists destination of Bangladesh.

There are many things to do in

Coxs Bazar. Besides seeing Coxs Bazar Sea beach, you can move around the other
tourists spots near Coxs Bazar. Ramu is one of them. Ramu is a famous Buddhist village,
approximately 16 km from Coxs Bazar on the way to Chittagong. Here you will find
Buddhist Monasteries, Khayangs and pagodas etc. In Ramu, you will find plenty of statues
made by gold, bronze and other metals.

Ramu is an Upazela of Coxs Bazar and one of the major sights seeing attraction in
Bangladesh. Ramu is a must see spot for anyone who making a trip to Coxs Bazar.
Historians said that, Coxs Bazar got its name from the Ramu dynasty of the Arakan. Ramu
was reined under the Mughals when Chittagong division was conquered by them. At that
time a thirteen feet high Buddha statue was found. This is the biggest of the Buddha
images hitherto discovered in Bangladesh. It is said that Ramachandra met Sita at Ramkot
after her abduction by Ravana and that the stone-grinder used by Sita had once been
preserved at Ramkot.

Buddhists Temple of Ramu:

The most eye-catching spot of Ramu is its Buddhists Temple near Baakkhali River on Tiger
Canal. The name of this Temple is "Rankut Bonasram Buddha Bihar". In the temple there
are a number of statues of Gautam Buddha. You will find different sized and diverse
colored statues of Goutam Buddha. Of them white colored statue is most attractive.
Everyday lots of Buddhists visit the Rankut Bonasram Buddha Bihar for praying.

Thousands of tourists visit Coxs Bazar Sea Beach and its nearer area everyday. But I can
say for sure that very few of them visit Ramu! Because the name, Ramu, is not well known
to all the visitors, though Ramu has the ability to attract the visitors. The Temple named
Rankut Bonasram Buddha Bihar is a historical and old structure. The Ramu Mondir or
Temple was built in 308 BC (Before Christ)! This news just amazed me. I was so bewildered
to see this magnificent edifice. If you have a plan to make a journey to Coxs Bazar, I
recommend you to go Ramu to see this ancient Temple or Rankut Bonasram Buddha Bihar.
There are some other Temple and Pagoda also. So dont miss to go Ramu while visiting
Coxs Bazar. Remember Ramu is only about 16 km from Coxs Bazar.
Ramu Shima Bihar:
Ramu Shima Bihar is located at Fateh Khan Kuli Union in Ramu. The original Bihar was built
about 400 years ago. After three times renovation, present Bihar or Temple has changed its
location. Present Bihars age is about 200 years. Ramu Shima Bihar was built by traditional
Burmese wood frame shape. There are two Bihar, it is the big one. Buddhist Statues in the
Sheema Bihar are so attractive. There is also a very rich library in which the script is written
in Burmese language. There are books on tripithak, history, literature and philosophy.

Lama Para Bihar:

There are another Bihar named Lama Para Bihar sited few minutes walking distance from
Ramu Sheema Bihar. Arakan King Ali Khan (1580-1665) ordered to make it when he was
ruled over Chittagong. One of the main attractions of this Bihar is its metal ring Bell. There
are some inscriptions in this Bell, till now no one could read it.

Besides Temples and Pagodas, There are other tourists attractions too. Especially I
recommend Ramu Coconut garden and Ramu Rubber Garden.
Ramu Coconut Garden:
Ramu is well-known for its huge coconut garden, which is sited at the 3-4 Km far away
from Ramu Upazela in natural surroundings. Unquestionably it is the largest coconut
garden in Bangladesh. After visiting this garden I find the information that not only our
country, Ramu has the largest coconut garden in entire south Asia. The garden was
inaugurated planting only 34 coconut plants but now it put up with about 1 million
Coconut tree. The coconut garden of Ramu contains about 200 acres of land.

Ramu Rubber Garden:

Ramu Rubber Garden is another attractive spots for the tourists. This Rubber Garden is
famous for its hugeness. Almost 2130 acres of land is used for cultivate Rubber. But in
earlier period Ramu Rubber Garden was started to plant about 52800 plants on 330 acre of
lands. But today this Ramu Rubber Garden encloses 1 lack and 40 thousand of plants. The
calmness of the garden and the sweet chirping of mysterious birds allow you to enter in a
heavenly atmosphere. Different sized hill and huge greenery magnetize you without any
doubt.
