The document discusses three questions and answers about data communication cables and standards. Q1 asks about the standardization of UTP cable configurations, which are standardized by TIA and EIA. Q2 describes the RJ-11 telephone cable connector and its six wire configuration used for one or two telephone lines. Q3 explains that straight cables transmit and receive data on pins 1, 2, and 3 at both ends, while crossover cables transmit data on pin 1 and receive it on pin 3 on the other end, and vice versa for pins 2 and 6.

HOME ASSIGNMENTS:
Q1: Which standard organization has standardized the cable configuration of UTP cable?

Ans: TIA (Telecommunications Industry Association) and EIA (Electronic Industries Alliance)

Q2: Find out the configuration for Telephone cable?

Ans: In Telephone cable, RJ-11 connector is used. It is a six wired connector. The 6 wires in
a RJ11 connector are divided into 3 pairs: the first is striped blue and white, the second is
orange and white, and the third pair is green and white. The combination of these wires usually
carries data or voice. A single-phone line uses only one pair of wires. A two-telephone line uses
two pairs, and the third pair of wires could be used for a third line. Most dial-up computer
modems are typically plugged into a RJ11 jack, whether for Internet connection or a local area
network. RJ11 jacks are typically used for fax, modem, and telephone. A RJ11 plug can also be
plugged into a RJ45 jack.

Q3: On which pins Cross cable and straight cable the signals can be receive and transmit.
Explain through an example and figure? What is the usage of that signal in computer
communication?

Ans: In straight cable data can be transmitted and received at pins 1,2 and 3 from both ends,
while in crossover data that is transmitted from pin 1 from one side is received at the pin 3 of
the other side and, data transmitted from pin 2 of one side is received at the pin 6 of the other
side.
