How To Recovery ACONIS Server


1. General Description

This Chapter explains how to recover your ACONIS server.


There are 4 steps to recover system.
1). Reinstallation of OS
2). Assigning IP address on each server
3). Correcting SYSINFO.INI file
4). Setting Printer
Make sure to back up important data, before Recovery Process to initialize ACONIS
server.
Now, follow each step, and you can complete recovering your server without any mistake.
Norton Ghost is used for recovering your ACONIS server.
Symantec and Norton Ghost are registered trademarks of Symantec Co.

NOTE: Try DB folder Copy following attached procedure before Recovery


Process. Most of times, Copying DB folder is enough to recover system.

2. Preparation

1). Reinstallation of OS

STEP.1
- Unplug the 2 Lan cables behind the server to be recovered.
- Insert ACONIS2000 Recovery CD #1 into CD-ROM.
- Reboot your OWS.

NOTE : Make sure that the system is configured to boot first from the CD-ROM drive, then from the hard disk. You can

verify or change device boot order using Computer Setup(F10) utility. After rebooting computer, when the Computer Setup

message appears in the lower-right corner of the screen, press the F10 key. Press Enter to bypass the title screen, if

necessary. If you do not press the F10 key while the message is displayed, you must turn the computer off, then on again,

to access the utility. Select File > Storage > Boot Order.

(When your computer model name is Hp vectra Vl420, Press F2 to enter the setup mode. You can check it in front of

computer case)

- OWS will be booted by recovery CD with the following message.

- If you are asked to boot on CD, then press any key.

STEP.2
- If the OWS is successfully booted by recovery CD, you can see the Startup Menu as
below.
- Press Enter key to select choice 1.

STEP.3
- Then youll see several messages about preparing Recovery process. Just wait till
the next screen comes up.

Emergency Recovery (Using Norton ghost)

STEP.1
- Youll be asked to agree to License agreement of Symantec Co.
- Press OK to proceed.

STEP.2
- Youll be asked whether partition size is correct or not.
- Press OK to proceed.

STEP.3
- Youll be asked to whether proceed with disk restore.
- Press OK if you dont have any data to back up on your server.

STEP.4
- Now youll see the proceeding status with bar graph.
- Wait till a pop-up window asks you to replace CD 1 with CD 2.

STEP.5
- When it reaches about 75%, youll be asked to insert CD 2.
- After replacing CD 1 with CD 2, press OK to proceed.

STEP.6
- When it reaches 100%, youll be asked to whether continue or reset computer.
- Remove CD from your CD-ROM, then press Reset computer

2). IP Setting and Each Work Station IP.

After automatic rebooting by Recovery CD, you will see two error messages generated by
OS and ACONIS system due to the unplugged LAN cables. Ignore two messages and
follow below procedure.

A. Change the network IP as follows;


1) Right click on My Network Place as bellows.

2) In Properties Window, Click Right button on Local Connection 1

3) In Properties window, select the Internet Protocal(TCP/IP)

4) Enter IP, Subnet mask and Gateway Address (see the table on page 15)
ex) ACONIS2 : 10.8.1.202 , 255.255.255.0, 10.8.1.1
ACONIS3 : 10.8.1.203, 255.255.255.0, 10.8.1.1

5) If you see rebooting message window, ignore it. Just close the window.

6) In Properties Window, Right Click on Local Connection 2

And then repeat (3), (4) (see the table on page 15)
Caution: You must set the IP Address, start 11..
ex) ACONIS2 : 11.8.1.202
ACONIS3 : 11.8.1.203

7) If you see rebooting message window, ignore it. Just close the window.

B. Change the Computer Name


1) Right click on My Computer icon

2) Select Network Identification tab, click the Properties button

3) Change the Computer Name (see the table on page 15)


ex) In case of No.2 CRT , The name should be ACONIS2
In case of No.4 CRT , The name should be ACONIS4

4) If you see rebooting message window, ignore it. Just close the window.

4) Open SYSINFO.INI(D:\ACONIS2000\INI) as below


- Check the servers name and which side abnormal CRT belongs to between ECR
and CCR and Find out your case among case 1 to case 4.

Situation Correction
Case 1 Abnormal CRT is server 1 in ECR side. Dont change anything.

Case 2 Abnormal CRT is server # in ECR side, [PRINTER_INFO]

Case 3 Abnormal CRT is server 3 in CCR side. [PRINTER_INFO]

- Save and close the window

C. Open Printer Setting Window as below (Start -> Setting -> Printers)

- If your CRT is ACONIS1, maintain current status. Dont change anything.

- If your CRT is ACONIS2, ACONIS3 . Delete alarm printer as following step.


- Right Click on alarm printer icon and choose delete with Left Click

- Click the Yes Button

- ACONIS2, ACONIS3CRT should have only one printer, log printer

D. Plug the 2 LAN cables again as below

E. Restart the computer
