KOPPs CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

Be Responsible
Attend regularly (you will do poorly or fail if you skip classes)
Use class time productively and try to remain focused
Let me know if you have questions or issues about to your learning in this class (I can help
before school, at lunch and after school)
Have all interim reports signed and returned as requested

Be Respectful
Demonstrate respect and courtesy
o Name-calling, swearing, put-downs of any kind will not be tolerated
o The general volume in the classroom will be quiet and conducive to learning
Treat all personal and classroom property with respect
o No food or drink in the classroom (water is OK)
o Do not write on or damage classroom property (including textbooks)
No electronic devices (smartphones, music devices, etc.) are allowed during class time
o Technology is a powerful tool, but an extremely tempting distraction.
o The most secure place for your device is in your locker
o A classroom cubby is available for short-term storage, but please be aware that the
safety of your device cannot be guaranteed
o Be warned: if you use your device in my class, it will be taken and may be picked up
at the office at the end of the school day
Remain on-task and productive throughout the class

Be Prepared
Arrive to class with what you need (pens, paper, textbooks, etc.)
Prepare for all quizzes and unit tests
Keep up with class work when you are away

Be Punctual
Come to class on time, every day
Complete and hand in all required work before due dates

CONSEQUENCES

1. Private Verbal Warning


2. Lunchtime detention during the double block
3. Call/email home to parent(s)/guardian(s)
4. Office referral (to see Mr. Danyluk, Mr. Sage or Mrs. Tenta)

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

ENTERING THE CLASSROOM


1. Walk in quietly and take a seat
2. Read agenda on whiteboard
3. Open your book and begin the warm-up activity
4. All students must be working quietly when the second bell rings

ARRIVING LATE (EXCUSED)


1. Enter the room quietly
2. Sit down and put your note at the top of your desk (I will collect it)
3. Begin the warm-up activity

ARRIVING LATE (UNEXCUSED)


1. Enter the room quietly
2. Sign in with your name, the date and your reason for being late
3. Sit down and begin the warm-up activity

CONTRIBUTING TO CLASSROOM DISCUSSIONS/GETTING THE TEACHERs ATTENTION


1. Raise your hand and wait your turn to speak
2. Do not shout out or interrupt others
3. Ask appropriate questions at an appropriate time

SUBMITTING YOUR WORK (ON TIME)


1. Place papers in a stack at the end of your row (I will pick up your work)

SUBMITTING YOUR WORK (LATE)


1. Put your work in the bin at the front of the classroom room
2. Although there are no marks taken off for late work, your assignment will not be accepted
after work is marked and returned to the class
3. If you need more time to complete a task or prepare for a unit test, please see me

FINISHING YOUR WORK IN CLASS EARLY


1. Quietly do another task (read, homework for another class)

ARRIVING WITHOUT SUPPLIES


1. Quietly go to the back of the room and take a pen, pencil and/or paper
2. Please return pens and pencils when you leave the room
3. Come to class with the required materials next time

ARRIVING WITH FOOD OR DRINK


1. Water is OK, but other beverages and food are not allowed in this class (Food and drink have
stained the carpet in the past). Put food and drink on the back windowsill on your way in.
You can pick these up on your way out at the end of class.

GOING TO THE WASHROOM
1. There is no need to ask, just flip the washroom pass over & sign out-be quick and sign back in
2. Try to make bathroom trips during scheduled breaks, between classes and at lunch
3. If you abuse this system (frequently going/wandering), you will not be allowed to leave

IF MR. KOPP IS OUT OF THE CLASSROOM


1. Remain at your desk and keep working quietly (do not leave the classroom without
permission)

WHEN MR. KOPP IS AWAY FROM SCHOOL


1. Follow all established procedures
2. Always treat the replacement teacher with respect and courtesy

AT THE END OF THE CLASS PERIOD


1. Remain seated and working (do not pack up and never line up at the door before the bell)
2. Wait to be dismissed and push your chair under the desk
3. The last class each day will tidy the room

IF YOU ARE ABSENT


1. If possible, let Mr. Kopp know in advance
2. CHECK MY WEBSITE for notes and missing tasks (www.koppsclass.weebly.com)
3. Call a friend in class to see what you missed
4. Pick up missing handouts from the folder at the back of the room
5. Make up all missing work ASAP
6. See Mr. Kopp if you need help or extra time to complete an assignment

IF YOU MISS A TEST


1. See Mr. Kopp immediately after you return to school
2. Tests are always written during lunch

AFTER YOU GET INTERIM REPORTS


1. Interim reports will be issued after every unit test. Your parents need to see and sign this
report
2. If you do not get your interim signed, you will serve a lunchtime detention and I will contact
your parent(s) with your grade

IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE DRILL OR LOCKDOWN PRACTICE


1. We will follow established school routines
2. Expect at least two fire drills per semester
