6 Station: Ref - No.cHN/Poc - Rripping/c-4"00

The document summarizes a unit trip event that occurred at Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station Unit 6. Key details include: 1) The 500 MW unit tripped manually due to a sudden trip of Unit Board-6A caused by a heavy jerk on the 400KV Bus-1, which was determined to be a system problem. 2) Observations noted the unit was running at 360 MW load when the trip occurred. 3) The root cause was identified as the heavy jerk on the 400KV Bus-1 that caused the under voltage trip of Unit Board-6A.

3. Nature of Event :
Unit tripped manually due to sudden tripping of Unit Board-6A on under voltage because of heavy jerk on 400KV
Bus-I (System Problem)

4. Name of First Up, Main Protections & protection on which GCB tripped:
Boiler hand tripped, Turbine tripped on interlock, Generator tripped on reverse power protection,

5 A) Obseruations :-
Unit was running at 360 MW load with coal mill A,B,D,F,H. CEP- A & B, in service. At 18:23 Hrs Heavy jerk noticed
causing tripping of Unit board-6A on under voltage. Due to this auxilliaries on Unit board-6A such as FD-6A, BCW-
6A, CEP-6A & 68, Coal Mill 6A & 6E tripped. Due to this load variation observed and unit withdrawn by Boiler manual
tripping.

5 B) Remedial Action/work done :-

On Inspection Unit board-6A found charged and voltages were normal. SE-13 board through which Unit Board-6A &
6D was charged checked and found normal. SAT-4A & 48 transformers and all station boards found checked found
charged and voltages found normal,
