Understand the rules of adding quotation marks to
sentences
Objectives Identify what words indicate that someone is talking
Know why we use quotation marks

Learning Target I can correctly use quotation marks in a sentence.

Key Vocabulary or Quotation marks

Concepts
Promethean board, pencils, quotation mark
worksheet, posters with quotation mark rules, a book
Materials for each student, listening ears, open eyes, closed
mouths, and ready to learn students.

Introduction/ Look over and explain the white poster with the quotation
Hook mark rules to the students.
1. Introduce the green poster with the dialogue word
web on it have them go through their books and circle
all the words that appear on the poster.
2. Work through the quotation mark worksheet on their
Instructional papers as I do it on the board with them. (Copy the
words from the chart and circled words from the
Activities book in the box at the top of the page for a refresher.
Creating a word bank of sorts.)
Working as a group, offering visuals, repeating the rules of
Accommodations quotation marks.
Say a sentence using one of the dialogue words.
