Reviewer - Solid Mensuration

This document provides formulas and concepts for solid mensuration of basic shapes including triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, and circles. It defines key terms like perimeter, area, radius, diameter, circumference, and sector area. Formulas are given for calculating these values for specific shapes like right triangles, equilateral triangles, parallelograms, rectangles, squares, rhombuses, trapezoids, regular polygons including hexagons, and relationships between radii, diameters, and circumferences of circles. Examples of problems and solutions are included for finding areas of combinations of these shapes.

6. Find the area contained between the circles of radius 20, each of which is externally
tangent to the other two.

Solution:

h/40 = sin 60
h = 34. 6410
area of triangle = (1/2)(40)(34.6410)
area of triangle = 692.8203
area of sector = (/360) pir^2
= (60/360) pi 400
= 209.4395
area of shaded region = area of triangle
3(area of sector)
Given: r = 20 = 692.8203 3(209.4395)
Area of shaded region = 65.5018 units

7. C is he center of the circle and rectangle ABCD is a rectangle with BC = 4 and AB =3. Find
the area of the shaded region.

Radius = AC
Using: c2 = a2 + b2 ; AC2=BC2+AB2 ; AC=5
Area of the shaded region = (1/4) area of the circle area of
the rectangle
= (1/4) R2 bh
= (1/4) 25 (4)(3)
= 7.6350 units
